      Bower usually writes about powerful billionaire business men and politicians, who have things to hide. He's written about the then Prince Charles, who's supporters detested the book. But Bower just sets the facts out, and that's why no one has ever successfully sued him. MM is the first women he's written about, so Bower must have sensed something that set him looking into her.

      Meghan's narcissism is apparent yet again in how she "relates" to her kids. I have a narc parent, so I speak from experience. Narcissists don't view their kids as actual people, we are objects, living dolls, props even. We are merely part of the "image" the narc projects to the world in public, but at home, we are ignored. I really fear for how much rage those kids are going to have towards both Haz and Megs when they are older because the emotional abuse, the see-saw of being adored one moment and then the Devil's spawn the next is truly damaging. It takes a lot to survive that. And that's my experience with just one disordered parent. The Harkle kids have 2 highly disordered parents.

      @@heatherbishop9260 1st and foremost you shouldn't speak as if your OPINION is FACT; unless you know the people involved and or were involved you are only speculating as to what happened. 2nd you and I clearly have vastly different ideas of what parents who are doing the best they can look like. The information provided in this video which is what I am basing my OPINION off of is that Thomas Markle Sr. allowed his wife to do drugs in front of his children (which I'm sure didn't help Tom Jr.'s drug problem), allowed a river of shady people in and out of his home potentially endangering his children, and hung up pornographic images on his walls, all the while being an absentee parent because he was also a workaholic. That's not my idea of a parent who did "his best" and honestly it's kind of sad if that sounds to you like a parent who did his best. You are right that parents are human and make mistakes but from the information provided it seems to me like Thomas Markle was a bad father, and while one might have sympathy for any hardships in his life it doesn't change the fact that he wasn't a good parent. Also I wholeheartedly disagree with your characterization that the wife and the spare's wedding was "the most televised event of our time." How exactly did you come to that conclusion when it's been widely reported that Prince William and Katherine's wedding had a larger audience who tuned in to watch. Also I would hazard a guess that King Charles' coronation coming up in a few short weeks will draw in more views then the spare's wedding.

      @wynn1587 In regards to Samantha yes she does have her own health problems and that's why she gave up custody of her children to their paternal grandparents. She made the difficult choice as a mother to do what was best for her children. As to Thomas Markle Sr. I have already stated that I don't think he is/was a good parent. I think his spoiling of Meghan was potentially to try and make up for that fact. That is just speculation on my part however.

Much better you reading it to us! I must say as a Sussex Resident when I first heard H and M had become Duke and Duchess of Sussex how happy and excited I was! I watched their wedding at least three times, I loved it and could see the warm welcome Meghan had received. I loved their Engagement Interview as thought she was wonderful and pleased to see my fav Prince, Harry had found a lovely wife and was happy! I look back and wonder how I could have been so naive! Now I am trying to get their titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex removed having written to my MP and signed Lady C’s Petition. I hate having them being Duke and Duchess of Sussex as you can gather!!

    What an eye-opening chapter. I really like your take on this chapter. I am so happy to see a review from an intellectual lens as opposed to the gossipy lens I have heard it being reviewed or judged. The Duchess of Privacy and Harold wanted to gaslight us all along by telling us how badly the British people were treating them and dramatically saying "I wasn't thrown to the wolves, I was fed to the wolves" (Duchess Difficult, 2022). We were all fooled by her and her puppet. This shows that there are different versions of the truth, Harold's truth, duchess difficult's truth and The truth offered so intelligently by Tom Bowers.

Even though he had a full time job and was married, yet complained behind his back that he did not pay child support. Every time he has an emergency he runs to mommy and dad for money. He is 52yrs old. Who does that sound like? BTW... He is on his 4th marriage. My parent crippled him basically. When we were growing up he was never made to do chores because he was my mother's favorite. I had to do all of the chores. Do not do this to your kids.

      Doria is a typical Narcissist. Also drug user. Drug dealer! Wow! What an example as a mother! Meghan did not get the mothering she needed. What makes it worse is that she is an extrovert. Plus she was out in Hollywood. I had parents,grandparents and great grandparents that were narcissists but I was an introvert. My mother did not smoke pot or cheat on my father and we lived in the conservative south. I wanted to be the opposite of my parents. That is what saved me. I am also an empath. I also decided not to have children. One of the reasons why was because my father emotionally,physically and sexually abused me. The cycle stopped with me. I swear Narcissistic Personality Disorder is Genetic. My brother has it. I also see signs of it in my niece. People need to not have children with these toxic people.

I remember after they moved to US that I noticed on utube various titles with negative connotations towards mm. At first I decided not to look at them thinking it was just sensationalising and didn’t want to go into that gutter.
    Eventually I couldn’t ignore the stories and became educated on who she is. I don’t think I am the only one that sees the truth now. Here in Australia the tv media openly discusses her bad behaviour regularly
    I think it is reaching a point now that everyone knows she is toxic.

I find it amazing that she now claims to be such a humanitarian and has such power through being rewarded for her behaviour. I think she must be amazed herself, looking back over her life, but she seems to believe she’s entitled to it all, she believes her own publicity

    This is fascinating; I am so glad you are following Spare with Bower’s book. I am very interested because I have not read it. Right off the bat I find the explanation of Meghan’s home life very revealing. I had heard her background described as middle class or even upper middle class based on the salary Thomas made as a lighting director. Nothing could be further from the truth! Social class is based on cultural values rather than tax brackets. Meghan’s background was clearly lower middle class. She had none of the social training that she needed to enter the royal family. It’s not an impossible task but it requires humility which she also did not have. She felt that she could reinvent herself rather than being tutored in custom and tradition.

    • @alanamileras2329
      @alanamileras2329 Год назад

      Respectfully disagree. She went to some of the most expensive private schools in the area, was hanging around celebrities on tv show sets and wanted for nothing, i.e.s she was spoiled rotten. She would have learned social decorum accordingly from her exposure and education in these areas. That is hardly the upbringing of someone "clearly lower middle class". That was the case for Thomas Jr. and Samantha, but not for Meghan after she was older than a toddler.

    • @barbararussell9757
      @barbararussell9757 Год назад +5

      @@alanamileras2329 One’s cultural background is set early by one’s parents. Meghan was exposed to girls who came from different backgrounds in the schools she attended but the basic ways of learning social graces and one’s place in the scheme of things is not learned at school, it is learned in the family at home. Celebrities are not the poster children for upper class behavior, nor is being spoiled a hallmark of upper middle class children (the opposite actually). Those venues you named do not teach traditional social graces or what is expected as obligatory behavior. I worked as a bridal consultant for almost 40 years and I saw over and over again that young people learn their sense of decorum from their parents, that the upper middle and middle class are most likely to follow traditional forms and the young people raised without social graces think they can just make it all up, in other words “have it their way”. Reminds me of Meghan.

    I don’t think that’s why she didn’t want her family around. Both her exhusband and Harry made the statement that they were going to give Meghan “family she never had” which surprised her family because they did have family. Even Doria expressed surprise when Trevor said it. I think she didn’t want her self made, did it all on her own, no family charade exposed by having any family around. Doria is willing to say anything Meghan wants her to say. I don’t think Doria’s family or the Markles are as willing to lie. She started cutting her dad off before she met Harry.

My oldest Son was just the sweetest person ever and he would help anybody. My middle Daughter was argumentative but loyal and loving. My youngest Daughter went through a few terrible years as a teenager due to her dad, yet she turned her life around and is the most laid back human being and awesome Mother to her 3 children ( whose dad died when he was in his thirties, they never really knew him yet all 3 children have their own personalities and are devoted to their Mum. All I can say is I wish I had a mum like her) my youngest Son bless him always fell in love with the wrong women.his wife destroyed him, we picked up the heartache of his destroyed life and yes it took about 6years before he found his role in life and he is now in a happy and stable relationship the biggest loss was his children, my Grandchildren that his narcissistic wife deprived us of. Family Dynamics only become an issue if we cannot all pull together to help each other. Sorry for the rant but Family should always come First.

    Thanks for starting another book. I Feel like I gained a witty, insightful entertaining new friend. You don’t have to take it personally or change our “friendship relationship” if I want to support you. Open the tip tab 😉

    Totally agree with you about old style writing as I am currently reading Lady Colin Campbells books that she did in the 90's about the Royal marriages and The Diana ones and her sources are all mentioned like Tom Bowers brilliant book they have real confirmed sources ..They are not biased accounts and are not "allegedly " just a brilliant full picture ..
