If it does not need to come apart you could also do a small weld with a tig (if you have one) which would make pretty solid...great videos! I have my kids new Red Ryder and ill be doing the mods with him...I had never really shot one before because I had a .17 break barrel when I was a kid but Im super into the red ryder now! squirrels run when they hear the lever action cock the spring!
That will work if you have the metal protruding, I've used a center punch and also a very small chisel on several 1894's and it seemed to tighten up the plate.
I take my gun used from eBay. it has inside a very strong spring and a new style plunger. this video save my gun. no I know the problem. thank you very much.
I just purchased a Daisy model 1000 this weekend at the flea market and when I went to shoot it the BB's only went about 3 feet. I took the gun apart except for the plunger and mainspring because I am afraid I wouldn't be able to get it back together. Everything looked fine and worked well but it did the same thing when I shot it again. Am I going to have to bite the bullet and tear the whole thing apart or is there something that I am over looking? thanks again
The Daisy 1000 was a wide body lever action BB gun similar to the Daisy Model 95/96/99. It sounds like your abutment washer is not properly seated and riding up and down the compression cylinder on the air tube or is missing entirely. You'll need to remove bottle cap shot tube and the spring block and pull the plunger assembly to see if that's the case. I've got a few video's on that process like this: ruclips.net/video/rap559k75w0/видео.html If you see and thin piece of rubber on the air tube in front of the compression cup, your abutment washer has become unseated. If not look into the compression cylinder and see if there is a small hole or a large hole present. A large hole means no abutment washer. Fortunately, the wide body Daisy's use the current production small seal sets available from Daisy and other sources if you need to replace them. Let me know what happens!
John, It's a start. If I ever get presentable welding skills I'll mod some of the currently unused plungers by tacking those plates on the backside. Should be interesting to see how the chinesium takes it.
@@RestOModDaisy I have already taken my Daisy apart and then I’ve done the same thing you did except I took that plate and filed a little bit to where they would allow more meat because like you said in your video the one side didn’t have very much I appreciate all the info keep doing what you doing brother
Not sure how to message you other than commenting but I have a situation with a newer rifle that I'm guessing may be preventing loading. A piece of the plastic loading gate (circular sleeve that adds tension) has apparently broken off and sliding up and down the tube. Is it easily removable? Thanks!
Dean, You always use my email in the description for more detailed messages. You can easily remove your plastic front sight assembly by gently tapping it forward with a wood block and a hammer until it clears the detent on the underside of the barrel shroud. Then just pull it off and see if the broken bit will wiggle it's way out. If the loading gate is still working properly then you are good to go. Once you get the debris out of the shroud just slip the front sight assembly back on taking care to get the actual barrel lined up properly and then tap it back into place.

You are aware that a tuned red ryder pushing just a bit over 350fps is making only 1.40ft-lb of energy right? _[Poor tree rats]_
Shane could you weld a little. On both bit side of the plate would that help ?

Would it be okay to place a small blob of weld each side instead?

thanks, now I know what to do if the cobalt327 spring messes with it.
(cue low current tack welding!)
Want a few plungers to experiment on?
Will you weld it If mine explodes? Haha
_[Shipping would be more money than buying two new ones id guess hehe ]_
Great job. As always informational and entertaining az all get out.
Thanks!

Can’t you put a couple of tack welds on it? Just asking
Sure! Just make sure you don't increase the width of the back plate as that will lead to problems trying to remove the spring block.
@@RestOModDaisy ok thank you for your help
Is this problem more apt to happen because of the more powerful spring or because it cocks on closing?
Can you modify a brand new daisy 650, want stiffer spring and trigger?
Love it brother!! I knew you would have a solution

@@RestOModDaisy really appreciate the advice!
Good to know!
Maybe a little weld would be better?
If you use a centre pop you don't need as much metal proud it will mushroom better and there's a lot less chance of hitting the tube....
Good point, I think I have one stashed someplace but I do like the ball peen hammer.
Would you beef-up my plunger assembly for my Red Ryder if I sent it to you?
Dan, If you insist but this mod is certainly doable by the user.
