Very effective yes. I often do something similar with 2-3 different bass sounds as well. I do also enjoy to play the bass in, because then I don't think the groove, but I feel it instead. I do like to change things up and work in different ways though :)
I'll see if I can dig it out for you. My folders are a bunch of samples from different packs I have collected over the years, so I don't have the direct sample pack names. Leave it with me :)

Playing in your bass pattern with a controller is a great option. Multiple bass sounds and Push 2 works great for me :)
