Wow Ollie is a filthy savage, talks us through how it is and just smashes on. That Ollie never turned pro is probably the best for the pro riders, would get nasty fast. Even taking a fall and not dropping his mentality speaks volumes. I would have used that to quit out I am sure. Well to be honest I would be crying before the top of the first climb.
I'd really like to know how many calories you burned Ollie, and did you eat a whole cow or just most of one? Oh and cheers for such a beasting effort, you been hanging out with Hank too much?
Top video, the next GCN presenter that makes an Ollie joke has to do the ride next year. Ollie, what a hero. He deserves everyone's respect. Chapeau Oliver Bridgewood.
As a 57-year-old lockdown newbie to cycling, I think Ollie is amazing. It's largely down to him and the videos you guys produce that have got me from 86kg to 74kg and 300km+ a week in 12 months. Ollie especially is an inspiration because he's never been a pro so is easy to relate to. Top-quality effort. 100% respect.
I love that GCN has diversified and added Ollie to the "to kill" list because Hank is too tough. But seriously, big kudos to Ollie, my man pushed through a crash and that weather and still finished.
To be honest, when I saw the title of this video where 250km and over 8000 meters of elevation, It gonna be Hank again. To my surprise, it was Ollie who is up to this challenge. And I'm pretty excited as we know Ollie is not a pro, but a hardcore enthusiastic cyclist like us, challenging such a gruesome ride. Thing goes pretty well until he had a pretty hard fall which you can see not only from the bruise, but also the torn bib short, and manage to complete top 25 with a ride over 8000 meters. Earned every respect from me and probably every other person watching this video. Thumbs up Ollie, good job, you deserved the best beer they have to offer over there !
I love watching Ollie's videos. He's great with the camera and the ability to joke about himself is great. Combine with not being a pro and someone "like me" makes it better.
I know he bonked, but the fact that he was still talking to the camera up the climbs up until the very end blows my mind. I would have been gasping for air.
100% I couldn’t walk up those climbs and talk at the same time! And yes Ollie job is a presenter, so is used to talking but so’s mine. My respect for Ollie is off the charts. Incredible ride.
Nah the legs just won't work hard enough to get you out of breath when you bonk like that. The legs feel both hollow and heavy at the same time and all you want to do curl up in a ball by the side of the road and have a snooze. But you know you mustn't, it all gets a bit emotional. All you can do is tell yourself that you don't mind that it hurts and to plod on without looking at the numbers.
Yeah, I was biking in Austria now and the climbs totally destroy me, and they are not anywhere near what he does here. I can go long distances on the flat without much trouble, but climbs kill me.
Who would've thought that a man who got dropped once on a gcn challenge then kept getting drop comments, would actually drop "Berty". So happy for u ollie you have finally redeemed yourself.
Ollie is a beast edurance rider. I'm happy to see that he's found his niche so the dropping jokes can stop. I also find it interesting the amount of people that went balls out at the start because he was in the front at the start and then he start passing people. Definitely shows that consistency is key.
Best GCN video in years. Honest, humble and relatable yet still inspirational. GCN, Ollie doesn’t need a raise, he has earned a raise. By this and his steadfast performances on your channel over the years.
Not sure which we will continue to hear more about in years to come, When Dan raced on the Cervelo Test Team or that time Oillie beat Contador. Well played mate!
Watching you get off that bike alone in the rain actually hurt. Lots of us have been there, but I doubt many of us have worked so freaking hard to get there. Well done, sir!
Ollie, Your sense of humor is just awesome. Bravo!! on completing the grueling sportive. You make us PhD chemists proud. Gives me confidence that I will complete my big endurance ride this September to raise funds for cancer research.
You are truly a legged, after a serious crash you still managed to get your things together. You are a beast when it comes to mental toughness and strength. Keep it up
Epic. That was so inspiring. I love that at the end, despite accomplishing such an amazing feat, Ollie is still humble and even self deprecating. A true gentleman and genuine hero!!
25th of 650 lunatics and just 8 more had enough will power wo finish after getting dropped by Ollie As a fellow chemist, i can just say: Kudos to you, Sir! BTW, just build my own DIY-Disc-Wheel this week and it is rapid!
Truly inspiring Ollie. It's this kind of determination that motivates me to become a faster, stronger rider. Ollie is always seen as the weakest, least talented rider but take a good look at what he has done on this Tour. Truly remarkable considering the number of people that entered and how many actually finished the event. Not to mention the celebrities that we're in there. Thank you for taking this painful journey and sharing it with us Ollie. Hopefully this serves as a statement the next time someone tries to look down at your physical abilities. Well done my friend.
Man I must have missed this one somehow, just noticed because of Connors' this year. I truly have no words for what you have accomplished! Hats off Sir 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Need to do this together next year👊🏼I loved it last year, should be on everyone’s bucket list. Super cool footage from the day, did the fabulous scenery more justice than my little GoPro 🤩
Huge congratulations Ollie on completing one savage looking event. To be one of only 33 to complete it, and the way you were suffering at the end, just shows the physical and mental resilience you had, even after your crash. Fantastic video once again GCN.
Absolutely awesome job Dr B. Inspiring, stunning and a true reflection of how totally bonkers we are as cyclists. Pushing your limits to the max with unstoppable determination to complete the route. Chapeau! The only thing dropped is that misplaced reputation. I’m not sure there are many, if any, of the GCN crew who would have come in ahead of you on this epic.
Well done Ollie, looks epic!! You've gotta stop proclaiming that you're an "average" rider....if you turned up at a local race you'd annihilate everyone!
Just watched Connor doing the Tour des Stations in 2022! You both should be so proud of your many achievements! You finished, it was brilliant, your times and you made amazing footage!!!
Congratulations....holy smokes ! I used to run marathons , so bonking is an old friend . Now , if you haven't known before , you are a special person , to push like that , with the world , literally watching ? Rest and recover , Rosti' is the best. Peace
Wow. I am a huge Ollie fan, and just became one of my legend heros!!! Well done Ollie. You are a TRUE inspiration individual. Congrats on this. And big thanks to GCN for another epic video.
Absolutely loved the way Ollie rode and dropping Contodor was the best part 😅 but on a serious note this was such an inspiring video🔥 kudos to Ollie and the team 👍
@@chrisbayliss3532 stopped at St Martin about 180kms. Not the best day on the bike TBH. Recovered from Covid just a few days before the race so was happy just to start!
Preparation and performance, persistence, perseverance, top points for phenomenal job. Ollie has been my GCN hero for some time as a never-PRO enthusiast rider. His dedication to detail and explanations of how and why bike things work as they do are fantastic. Over on Tech his explanation of bike and component selection are fabulous lessons that can help us all better understand what we should look for in a bike best for our type of riding.
Ollie you rode part of the way with my club mate, he came in about 10 seconds ahead of you and said he enjoyed the natter on the way. Great result on a tough Fondo and shame about the weather that day, later on it became much worse with plenty of hail stones... Come back next year and try the WYSAM 333 which is coming up in a week.
Most of us will never ever ever get anywhere near an everesting, but to do it in those conditions, and finishing on such a HUGE bonk, is a stellar effort. Ollie, to us everyday casual riders, YOU are our superhero :-)
Ultra impressive ride! Your power data and average speed is through the roof! I did the Haute Route in Valais this year, and did a few of the beautiful climbs you did there, too. But no match for your effort here!
Well done Ollie, I mean really well done ! I got quite emotional at the end there pal and I know how you must have felt. It's one thing presenting the greatest bike show on the planet but it's another putting your money where your mouth is and you smashed it. Chapeau from the sunny Pennines Ollie.
Give that man a gcn water bottle for cycling inspiration. He's earned it.
And call it a bidon when you do; he's earned the right to be a little pretentious.
It would have to be one of the rarely seen yellow ones. Epic respect for an incredible ride, Ollie.
The ultimate prize!
If Sy and whoever conduct next week show are not giving Ollie his bottle this community is going to get mad lines #ollieEarned #aYellowOneForOllie

Puts it in perspective, only 33 finished out of 600 and Ollie came 27th. Stunning effort. You are the Battlers Prince, Ollie.
No more Ollie jokes, just 100% respect for that. Plus beating the great AC as well. Wow.
Well, okay, no more Ollie jokes for now. But give it a day or two and we can wonder when he will lose that form and get dropped again. :)
Both. Both is good.
