      The greatest on the greatest! I was privileged to have wrestled Andre 5 times and it was terrifying till you spoke with him pre-match, first time was at the Venture Fairgrounds and Andre sitting down was still taller than I standing as he sat there and ate 5 Big Macs combos! Easy to work with.

      Pistol Pete What a great experience those matches must have been. Andre was a true giant. I've heard other wrestlers say that his chest chops were very painful! God Bless Andre.

      gary wagner i HATE dark matches..lolol..because we as viewers and fans are not able to see what the live fans are...same with PPV's, live fans see things we do not and as paying that amount of money, you would think you would get it all.
      hogan was terrified of andre in real life, no one ever wanted to make him angry...i still say he was the all time uncrowned champion...hated how he had to job for the warrior in his last years...these were the classic wrestlers, the 60's and 70's were incredible to watch and relive.

    It's nice to hear Billy talk about the only true Giant of modern day wrestling, 100 times he faced Andre, wow!, that would take a toll on any man. Billy wasn't a little man himself at 6' 4" and 275lbs., but he surely looked small compaired to Andre, but then again, everyone looked small standing next to The Giant.
    Like Billy said, God rest the Soul of the gentle Giant. He was a treat to see.

    I'll one more time and maybe the last time tell my Andre story. I'm not young either. I used to run a service station known as Parkerfield service center. And before the Richmond colosseum was built I got to met many wrestlers Sting, Piper, Flair with The Hammer and both were fucking drunk. The list is too long to name but Andre came in one day and I noticed the car raised like 2 inches, Lincoln limo . and he asked for the bathroom, he was a bad guy under Bobby Henan then. I offered a drink and he said sure. I handed my bottle of rebel yell and he downed the last 1/3rd like it was a sippy cup. Then I gave him a beer, which you couldn't see in his hand.
    I told him sorry this was all I had on hand and I know he was used to better being raised in France. He said I take what I can get and gave me tickets to the nights event. Remember he was a bad guy then but I had back stage passes. Andre was the nicest person I ever met. How he was so hated in the ring I can't understand to this day being he was so nice! Before he left I asked Bobby about the booze and he said it would take 3 more bottles and a case of beer and a create of wine before he would even have a buzz.

    Asking those who know....What was the difference between Andre and Big Show?

    • @trappenweisseguy27
      @trappenweisseguy27 8 лет назад +2

      About 5-6 inches and 100+ pounds. Andre never stopped growing. If you see a picture of him smiling it looks like he has 100 teeth just to span his jawbone. He was a real shadow of his former self at the end because of his back. Khali too has the protruding chin and eyebrows typical of acromeglia.

      Big show was about 6'10 and 400 lbs
      Andre was 7'4 and 560 lbs

    Are there any real, Andre the Giant fans out there? I mean anyone who's followed his career & knows a lot about his life history? Here is the reason I ask. Back in the late 1970's when I was a kid (8-10yo) I saw on TV (I'm almost sure it was on a Saturday morning) 6-8 Hells Angles, jump into the ring (I think it was at Madison Square Garden) & pummel Andre with fists, brass knuckles & chains. Andre was bleeding profusely from the face. I KNOW what I saw & remember it well, yet I can find NOTHING about it, ANYWHERE. I've looked all over the internet & I can find no reference or mention of the incident. (& I've been posting comments around the net since the late 1990s) It's been driving me crazy for years. Thousands of people were in the audience, + it was on TV. SOMEONE must have saw/remember it??? Anyone???

    Andre suffered from a condition called "acromegaly" or "gigantism". Therefore, his movements were uncoordinated because of his huge size and weight.
    People suffering from this condition usually don't live long.
