I do love how in the beginning,when Winston tries to do this scripted and rehearsed,he struggles,but when he just speaks from the heart and Ad libs it,he's able to do it flawlessly

14 year old me was extatic seeing this trailer. Now seeing what this game has become, hurts me. I hope for the brighter days for overwatch.

Widowmaker is the perfect assassin: a patient, ruthlessly efficient killer who shows neither emotion nor remorse.
It is believed that in her former life, Widowmaker was married to Gérard Lacroix, an Overwatch agent spearheading operations against the Talon terrorist organization. After several unsuccessful attempts to eliminate Gérard, Talon decided to change its focus to his wife, Amélie. Talon operatives kidnapped her and subjected her to an intense program of neural reconditioning. They broke her will, suppressed her personality, and reprogrammed her as a sleeper agent. She was eventually found by Overwatch agents, apparently none the worse for wear, and returned to her normal life.
Two weeks later she killed Gérard in his sleep.
Her mission complete, Amélie returned to Talon, and they completed the process of turning her into a living weapon. She was given extensive training in the covert arts, and then her physiology was altered, drastically slowing her heart, which turned her skin cold and blue and numbed her ability to experience human emotion. Amélie was gone.
Now, Widowmaker is Talon's most effective assassin, feeling little save the satisfaction of a job well done.
I have read most of the stories and, yes, this one of the saddest ones. This and Bastion's.
Opening a whole new world with a multiplayer game is a great choice for Blizzard, then they can bombard us with alot of singleplayer games for this well-made yet overly mysterious dystopian universe! Can't wait to see more!

+Smitty MK I gotta say to me, Tracer has the blandest moveset being that all she can do is Run and Gun (and occasionally sticky bomb). But don't mistake that for me hating her. I can't use her properly, I'll fully admit that. But I've seen her get used properly... I came across a Pro Tracer player... she racked up 56% of her team's kills and got over 30 eliminations... *Shudders*

Back when I played on PS4, I never skipped this. 1:42 is all I needed to get hype and disconnect myself from reality every time I came back from work or college. Thank you Overwatch for the amazing 2016-2019 period in my life.

Every time they release these trailers for Overwatch with full pre-rendered CG characters, I keep thinking to myself that they need to make a full-length feature film based on Overwatch someday (animated of course).
+ScorchHellfire that is what i always asking myself when they released Starcraft trailers.
Basically anything Blizzard has awesome cinematics and good but underwhelming gameplay storytelling.
They need to make a movie that isn't WoW. Starcraft would have been a great pick, as would Diablo or Overwatch.
Hopefully Uwe Boll doesn't get his hands on any of that...
Unfortunately, the quality of writing for starcraft dipped with StarCraft 2, once they decided to turn it into WoW-in-Space and turn the focus from character-driven intrigues and moral grayscales to large cosmic conspiracies with immortal bad guys from a parallel dimension. Compared to that, StarCraft 1, while having a lot less dialogue and being a lot more limited, has a more compelling story, imho. (I didn't hate StarCraft 2's campaign, it was jsut a bit of a letdown).

You could suggest that the game takes place before the band gets back together and their just still mercs for hire trying to make a living. ...With two of them that used to work on the team brainwashed and possibly batshit crazy so they're not totally in control

Well, supposedly the game itself's events aren't canon (After all, they don't explain the whole "Respawning"). They revolve around canon events, but in and of itself aren't.
Besides, it's battleborn's job to make fun of that :P

+Feathers-Ruffled the entire game is actually not relevant to the lore. Unlike stuff like WarCraft or StarCraft, the (current pvp-multiplayer) game is uncanon in terms of lore and the entire lore is and will (so far) be told outside of it.

+neo space if I were to decide between good and balanced online gameplay, in which i could pump thousands of hours, or a campaign which i would play 10 hours and never remember it again... i would always pick the first option.
+neo space Adding a campaign is much more work/time/programmers than you might think. That would mean that they would have to pump much more money into the game which would need much more time to be released so I don't think they could just "add" it. It would be cool though if it was like that.

One week before the Overwatch 1 servers close, was a good journey. it will be missed, good memories from PlayStation to PC, all the friends made and even got a girlfriend out of it, (3 years strong). although Overwatch wasn't doing so hot in the later years, it will always have a place in my heart.

Dude, its like watching something from DC animation or Marvel or even Pixar. It has a comic book science fiction feel. I love this. All their animations are fantastic with unique characters and a heavy back story. Its just so good. Blizzard really needs to make an animated movie out of this, or make a deal with independent comic book companies just so we can learn more about the world of Overwatch.
+Steven Belknap They do have comic books and little comic stories that explore a bit of McCree's and Reinhardt's lives post Overwatch as well as showing some backstory to Pharrah and Symettra. The best place to find them is Madefire because they actually animate the comics a little with a few sound effects.
I am watching this one last time before I go to sleep on Oct 2 2022 I will forever love overwatch for all of the people it has brought into my life and for all of the great memories. Never forget what you're fighting for

Honestly... this intro still gives me chills, and I don’t even really play this game anymore.
I'll be honest, I don't tear up often, but every time I hear Winston say "They tore our family apart" I rips my heart in twain.
*Man, I miss getting greeted by Winston's message. They should have never removed it. There was no reason to remove it, and I think keeping this would have gave newer players some story of this game. But Ig blizzard just doesn't care.*

It would be so cool to get an Overwatch trailer that parallels this one while focusing on the villains' perspective. Reaper gives the audience his own video message from inside a dark lair. He tells them that he and his allies are responsible for the chaos and destruction that is erupting throughout the world, and that the worst is yet to come. His plan to draw out Overwatch is working, but he needs more people to destroy Overwatch completely. He warns that if you are not with him, you are against him, ending with an ominous question: "Are you with me? "

it's mind boggling how they drove this franchise to the ground, considering the lore and cinematic presentation is a pixar movie material in sense of the popularity and the broad audience, the tone and the message of the setting is so universal, it's a 'both kids and their parents can enjoy this' type of thing
I absolutely love the orchestral rendition of the main theme, at 1:42. Just hearing those brass instruments kick in, and having the drums in the background creating this beautiful noise, is absolutely awesome. I really do hope a full version will be released in the near future, as well as the music from the "Dragons" trailer.

+Rodrigo Duarte This kind of story we have been seeing in these trailers make it seem the game would make more sense as a large, story driven, mission laden series. Instead it's yet another team vs team first-person-shooter much like many other on the market.

+Lin2Waterfall it is objectively a upgrade from the team-based arena shooter style that Team Fortress embraced. You can (and hopefully will not) argue that Overwatch is just a carbon-copy of that style, but if you actually play the thing, you'll see that it is a lot more focused on team aspects and mechanics. A large amount of veteran Team Fortress 2 players (professionals and casuals like me) call OW a natural upgrade of TF's style. Other FPS Arenas on the market are nothing like Team Fortress and Overwatch (well, there's Paladins... but Hi-Rez just wants to jump on the bandwagon of other games' success, and that can be forgotten) and probably only those cited games can give you a similar gameplay experience. Also don't forget all the story-driven games that flood the market every year, so yeah, give Overwatch a chance to shine.
