It sucks I couldn't physically be at this event but I was glad I sent my brother to capture it. More of our youth needs to lift, this is a big step in the right direction!
@jonnybeing an adult men doesnt meen you know how to lift ;) forgot about that didnt you lol :D @hammering well its max for them :) added weights on both sides doesnt change anything
This was an amazing event to witness in person! My little Grace, age 8 is in this video...she started by tagging along to the gym with Mom & Dad with stuffed animals in tow, slowly the toys stayed home and on her own, she chose to pick up a barbell! An amazing coach and excellent powerlifting/crossfit community kept her hooked!
This is great. My son just turned 13 and he watches me train at the gym for powerlifting meets and I am starting to think the bug has bit him. I am not pushing anything on him. He likes doing squats and bench but not fond of the deadlift. He has done it a few times and did pull 135 on deadlift. Granted that isn't a lot but for a kid that has hardly trained the deadlift that isn't that bad. I will be sure to show him this video and see what he thinks.
My daughter is 8 loves to workout but hates being out on basketball court ; so she quit. After letting her watch this , she is excited about possibly competing!! Awesome video!! Thanks ST
Gary Garrison ya 17. I mean its impressive. I hit I think 255 at 16. But wasn't close to his bodyweight. More around 160. Wish I had meets like this where I'm at.
This is great. Props to all of your guys for continuing to grow our sport and for making it something that future generations can enjoy and find positivity in their lives.
“UN - bully -ABLE!!” Yep! These kids will be hold their own because they know that they are doing something/know what they can do, and because anyone who puts a hand on them may get hurt. Self-esteem, derived from lifting (
great video. I have 11 year old twins who have just started like many of the children in this video. My kids have watched the video and are now more comfortable about the prospect of being in a meet because they were inspired by the video!
This is amazing. I wish we had one of these programs in my state while I was growing up. Powerlifting changed my life when I got into it and it's incredible seeing these kids getting into lifting!
its great to see these youngsters get into lifting so early (while still doing it safe and protecting their spines etc.) instead of just sitting in their room playing xbox 24/7 and eating mcdonalds
This is great kids are getting into this at a young age, they'll realize the benefits of it early on and gain confidence that will stick with them the rest of their lives.
+JayAuraFitness damn why nobody react for this bad techniqe od dl ... so many expirienced people out there ... when i watch this feel some pain on back .
Sharing this everywhere, maybe help out some of our overweight high school kids feel good about themselves and start a club. Would compliment every other sports too! Thanks mark
This is one of the most awesome and inspiring things I've ever seen for the youth. I was planning to start the same type of events here in Arizona. I just want to exaggerate one thing, don't let the young powerlifters develop a bubble belly six pack like the new bodybuilding competitors do. Arnold vs. Fletcher is a great example.
I was 16 a few months ago and at 180 bodyweight I benched 295, Squatted 335, and Deadlifted 405. Not sure how these numbers compare but am still proud of my progress.
+Ira Hills Exactly Ira. First we are training kids to lift things from the ground to their waist. In the real world when they pick up a back pack or anything heavy it looks more like a sumo than conventional deadlift. Secondly these are novice lifters. That means they are novice to bracing and keeping a neutral spine. The sumo is easier for them to maintain the neutral position and more forgiving if they lose it than the conventional stance.
On a serious note it's a great video. I am currently training a 75 kg 14year old boxer and using push and pull combo. Get all my advice from mark and Mike on here so thank you
as a senior medical student and an amateur powerlifter I suggest that junior powerlifter should be judged strictly in form , since they are more prone to injury and they have a long way to go (for their own benefit) what do you think Mark Bell ? By the way Looooooooooooooved the video
Would have loved to have this when I was younger. I always liked strenght, was able to do chin-ups when I was ~14 without even training (as I've always been a lightweight), always the best in my classroom for speed and strenght events (as we did one each year on physical education classes), but always sucked (and still suck) at endurance, so powerlifting/weightlifting would have been my pleasure as it is today. I've heard that nowadays they're bringing some weightlifting events to schools to raise awareness as right now Spain doesn't have many world-class lifters (do we even have one? it has 0 advertising here, they just talk about football). Just a shame it wasn't before. Now I'm just fighting to get into a decent lift for starting in powerlifting haha.
Wish there was something like this when I was growing up. My parents wouldn't let me lift until I was in 8th grade. The cat meow sound effect at 10:38 made me laugh so hard.
So? A belt is for when u move a lot of weight and mayhbe 60kg was a lot of weight for him. And maybe his grip strength was bad so he used straps? Whats the fucking deal
lUkiE If someone can only deadlift 60kg they don't even know how to brace properly. They shouldn't be using a belt, they should be learning how deadlift/squat in the first place. Using straps to hold 60kg is a joke, have seen girls who don't even lift double overhand holding 60kg. They also weighed like 130lbs. No guy is that weak. Also, the fact he's so weak shows he's like other modern idiots. They buy equipment and supplements before they even start to lift. Really, you should just start and in the future worry about those things if you stick to it. The kids in this video are an exception. Using a belt I think is good for them as most of them have decent form. They know how to lift and brace, belts for them actually help with their meet.
I wish there had been a powerlifting community around here when I was this age. Instead I got farm work. So at 10 I could carry a 100lbs bag of grain in each hand. Good luck to all these kids!
for some reason, this reminds me of when my step-dad when I was 13. he was doing a benchpress and asked me to try and found out I could benchpress his Max. like a year later I could bench more than him
I'm 15 and the 22 this month i'm going to join the powerlifting club closest to me and i'm wondering, what kind of powerlifting program should i go for if i'm going for pure strength, don't know if i should go with upper and lower body workouts or push/pull days. I have been working out for around 8 months with just one or two bodyparts a day 5-6 days a week I want to workout around 6 days a week
For those raging because of a kids hair cut or ear rings, Michael Landon believed that his strength came from his hair length so he let it grow. He later learned this was not true but it helped him growing up...Michael Landon's Long Hair - The lengthy tresses of actor/director Michael Landon (of BONANZA, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE and HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN fame) were the by-product of a childhood experience when he saw the biblical movie epic Samson and Delilah (1949). Drawing strength from the legend of Samson, Landon decided he too would grow his hair long and thus gain power.
I am a 13 year old girl who would like to do powerlifting. I do lots of running like sprinting long distance and hill running to train for track. I love running. Would that be a promblem in powerlifting to keep my strength.
Jamara Gibson All that running drains your body of energy. It increases your metabolic rate by a lot, so even if you're just sitting down hours after a run you're burning a LOT of calories just to get through the day. To powerlift you have to eat a lot of food because strength training is very taxing on the body. I'd advise you to drop the long distance running and only do sprints once or twice a week to have more energy to lift. Start with bodyweight training to build some muscle first before you go powerlift.
lifting weights is very beneficial for a childs growth and development. Lifting promotes bone and muscle growth not prohibits. As a child lifts their muscles and tendons become stronger and bones become more dense. It's called Wolff's Law and Davis' Law. Even the American Academy of Pediatrics and the British Journel of sports Medicine have done studies showing the benefits of lifting for kids and even agree with works of the world's leading Pediatric sports Medicine researcher Dr. Avery Faigenbaum. Hes done many studies. One study was done over a 17 year period with 96 kids. Ages 6-12. All lifted weights and even went to max effort weights. There were 0 injuries and 0 adverse health effects on any of the children. ( Faigenbaum A.D., L.A. Milliken, and W.L. Westcott. Maximal strength testing in healthy children. J. Strength Cond. Res. 17(1):162-166. 2003.) Even in Germany they have compiled over 60 years of data showing the benefits of lifting weights for kids. Plus a child is 100x more likely to get injured playing a sport like soccer vs lifting weights (proven case study) also lifting helps prevent other sports related injuries. Great example. One kid I trained started lifting weights at 7 and was competing in powerlifting and squatting over 200 pounds by 9 and squatting over 300 pounds by 11. Hes now 18. Hes 6'4 over 300 pounds and was the biggest kid on his football team and is completely healthy. So as long as a child is given proper training and uses proper technique when lifting and has the proper nutrition. Then a child can lift weights and even go to max weights. Plus there is no evidence on this planet to show that lifting weights correctly stunts or hinders growth or health in anyway shape or form. Facts🤷♂️
These kids are great, but we definitely have to give props to you guys and the parents. This is a privilege for them to have this at their age.
It sucks I couldn't physically be at this event but I was glad I sent my brother to capture it. More of our youth needs to lift, this is a big step in the right direction!
mark was the 315 in a suit?
dude why are these kids wearing earrings...like the fuk?
+Jose Soto used to be the cool thing in the 90's too. I still have holes in my ears and I'm 34. Don't wear them though
I'm 13 and my bench PR is 155
there are barely any meets in my area. sucks.
i rep the fuck out of these kids max lifts.... How do I enter this competition?
Fuck sake😂😂😂😂😂

that cat meow at 10:38 for that girls back rounding hahah STOPPP
Lol pretty sure that's a boy
+RudyValo No its a girl
yeeea someone help her lol when I saw that I instantly went "oooh god no"
When an 8 year old has better form than half the people in the gym
Some of their deadlift forms were scary bad
Yeah I was worried for some of those kids spines
😂
Did we watch the same clip ?
mark benched 315 at 13? why am I such a piece of shit?
No he didn't he was joking
I know a 12 year old that benches 800
I want to believe
+Sam Proctor mark May have done it multiply you know, since that was where he started, he was doing 400 at 15 in bigger stronger faster IIRC
Sam Proctor probably
8 year old girls with better deadlift technique than 99% of adult men hahaha
+Jonny Marshall i did see a couple of horrors .
It's easy to have good form when you're literally pulling the bar
@jonnybeing an adult men doesnt meen you know how to lift ;) forgot about that didnt you lol :D @hammering well its max for them :) added weights on both sides doesnt change anything
Believe it or not while woman aren't as strong as men, most of the time they do have better form in their lifts.
Jonny Marshall lmao why is this so true
I like it. I could barely lift myself out of bed for school in the morning at their age!
+CHRISTEN DIAZ Good job momma
She's going to be a beast
This made my fucking day. That little girl Grace has such a positive attitude. LOVE IT!
+Dave Lotito That's my sunshine! She really enjoys the sport!
This literally made my day! Such an awesome video
This is great. My son just turned 13 and he watches me train at the gym for powerlifting meets and I am starting to think the bug has bit him. I am not pushing anything on him. My daughter is 8 loves to workout but hates being out on basketball court ; so she quit. After letting her watch this , she is excited about possibly competing!! Awesome video!! Thanks ST
+bs431980 thats awsome. wrestling, judo and jujitsu are all good for kids too.
um deadlifts will make your kid shorter, ask him to do it when hes older
BR34KF4ST Y. I don't think it will effect him as he doesn't do it often. He is 13 and already 5'11"
that kid attempted to bench 265? shiet
fritzki1 I thought that kid was 17??? Didn't he say he was 17?
Gary Garrison ya 17. I mean its impressive. I hit I think 255 at 16. But wasn't close to his bodyweight. More around 160. Wish I had meets like this where I'm at.
Depends how tall he his and how long his been lifting I benched 275 at 16
nic johnson what’s your body weight?
@nic johnson What is ur deadlift? im 14 too btw
This is great. Props to all of your guys for continuing to grow our sport and for making it something that future generations can enjoy and find positivity in their lives.
1:51 They should've disqualified him for that poor excuse of the whip dance.
"You're off the team"
PermanentHigh lmfao
Most of these kids are stronger than me haha
+Isaac Campos Just work hard and dont give up man, everyone begins somewhere, we are not all genetic freaks.
This is awesome! So many lost kids out there and stuff like this can really help them. Thanks for covering this event guys!
“UN - bully -ABLE!!”
Yep! These kids will be hold their own because they know that they are doing something/know what they can do, and because anyone who puts a hand on them may get hurt. Self-esteem, derived from lifting (
These kids are still stronger than Jason Blaha
ostkuk1 they're probably bigger than him in person too
haha
great video. I have 11 year old twins who have just started like many of the children in this video. My kids have watched the video and are now more comfortable about the prospect of being in a meet because they were inspired by the video!
It was fun! Can't wait to do another meet!
I actually just signed up for my first powerlifting meet and this honestly got me really psyched for it

This is amazing. I wish we had one of these programs in my state while I was growing up. Powerlifting changed my life when I got into it and it's incredible seeing these kids getting into lifting!
This is fucking awesome. Nice to see kids getting into this in a safe manner.
If you disliked this video you quarter squat.
+Drew Stefanovski ... the bar!
+Antoseb in multiply
+Drew Stefanovski I disliked because I fucking hate children.
+ExeKuTioN Cro with adi powers
+Antoseb and reverse chains
its great to see these youngsters get into lifting so early (while still doing it safe and protecting their spines etc.) instead of just sitting in their room playing xbox 24/7 and eating mcdonalds
This is great kids are getting into this at a young age, they'll realize the benefits of it early on and gain confidence that will stick with them the rest of their lives.
Such an inspiring video! Can't wait till my son can start powerlifting.
I'm 14 and just started lifting and I can squat 235 and still going up
235 isn't much tbh. Depends on your weight. When started working out at 14 I squatted 250x3 on a Smith machine. I weighed 120 at the time.
Lamar da powerlifter let the kid be proud of themself! no need to bring em down!
Smith machine is shit 235 is good at 14
William Bishop yeah but how much do you weigh?
William Bishop Now I see why you can squat 405. the more weigh 215. The more you weigh the more weigh you can move
Thats cool to see all the girls lifting as well, It's the way it should be and I hope it becomes a lot more common
Loved this video mark. Keep providing this kind of content please !!
These kids are amazing!
Some could use a lil fine tuning like the kid at 10:40, I cringed a bit, nonetheless they are on a great path.
Had to close my eyes on that one for a bit
+JayAuraFitness
damn why nobody react for this bad techniqe od dl ... so many expirienced people out there ... when i watch this feel some pain on back .
These kids have better technique than guys I know training 10+ years! Awesome
+Kier06 so true - it's a bit embarrassing honestly, and also a testament to whoever is coaching them
It's amazing really, they're like a sponge absorbing information!
This is so cool. My son just turned 3 and hope he ends up lifting.
Sharing this everywhere, maybe help out some of our overweight high school kids feel good about themselves and start a club. Would compliment every other sports too! Thanks mark
This meet is so great I wish I was in something like this as a kid
This is so encouraging. I wish I would have had this when I was growing up.
its nice to see a video of kids lifting with good form, i never see this
This is one of the most awesome and inspiring things I've ever seen for the youth. I was planning to start the same type of events here in Arizona. I just want to exaggerate one thing, don't let the young powerlifters develop a bubble belly six pack like the new bodybuilding competitors do. Arnold vs. Fletcher is a great example.
What a great video! More parents need to see this
this is awesome to see kids doing this.
This is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen
Best video from SuperTraining of all time. GOAT!
Big smile the whole time watching this video! Very cool!
I was 16 a few months ago and at 180 bodyweight I benched 295, Squatted 335, and Deadlifted 405. Not sure how these numbers compare but am still proud of my progress.
Very impressive lifts! Has me suprised honestly.
+lucasino8 Also the form is excellent!
+lucasino8 except for 10:37 holy shit
ExeKuTioN Cro hence the cat sound lol
lucasino8 LMAO didnt notice that
This is phenomenal, well done slingshot team! Wish to start something of the same in the UK
Mark Bell, you make an impact on everyone.
Love seeing the future get after it!
I live in Ramona! That's crazy. I didn't even know that gym existed.
Hey Mark, I noticed a majority of the deadlifts were sumo. Do you know why that is? Do people consider that to be safer at a younger age? Thanks.
+ZBeazy72 probably just easier to teach without rounding over like a conventional pull, so no "dangerous" grinders
The sumo is easier for them to maintain the neutral position and more forgiving if they lose it than the conventional stance.
cuz sumo makes the weight 50% easier to lift lul
@@thebrandxmethod2253 Also less chance of the poor kids getting redlighted at their first meet lol
Train hard, stay consistent and never give up.
some strong kids there. The meet was a great idea.
Wish i had this in my youth. Great content!
10:15 rip that back form t.t
@11:09 "I just wanna be jacked and tan" is what he meant. Awesome video!
These kids will be MONSTERS comes puberty!
Wow these athletes are AWESOME!
On a serious note it's a great video. I am currently training a 75 kg 14year old boxer and using push and pull combo. Get all my advice from mark and Mike on here so thank you
really proud of these kids
This was awesome! Highly motivational.
this vid has been liked and shared. keep up the good work
I just checked open PL, out of the kids from 6-17, only one of them competed after 2017.
as a senior medical student and an amateur powerlifter I suggest that junior powerlifter should be judged strictly in form , since they are more prone to injury and they have a long way to go (for their own benefit)
what do you think Mark Bell ?
By the way Looooooooooooooved the video
beyond the best video from you guys!
Ok, everyone knows SupertrainingTV kicks ass, but this is the best vid on the channel, ever!
Would have loved to have this when I was younger. Hope you get into it buddy
+Nagasaky2x Spread the message of powerlifting in Spain bro.. You could make some money along the way, which is a nice outcome.
This was very inspiring to watch, thank you! Gonn try to get my nephews to get into powerlifting :P
dude, this is amazing! all you guys do for lifting is amazing and super appreciated it. If people dont like y'all, they need a fucking helmet!
+uradumby25 i do wear helmets
Wish there was something like this when I was growing up. My parents wouldn't let me lift until I was in 8th grade. The cat meow sound effect at 10:38 made me laugh so hard.
Same bro :o
This video single handedly destroyed my powerlifting hobby. Goodbye everyone, I'll be at the crossfit gym from now on.
+OGshizzballz DON'T DO IT! IT ISN'T WORTH IT!
Why so lol
Strong kids! Keep up the good work
Awesome video! Love it thanks for sharing
I remember last year I could barely bench the bar (which is 20 kilos) and now I can bench 60, thank god for change
Damn. Some of those kids pull waay more than I do :) Hope they ontinue lifting and maybe one day we'll see them break world records!
So... Why is she wearing a lifting belt while benching like 65lbs...
The same reason anyone wears a lifting belt when they bench: They think it helps.
well it does help on the bench when you are lifting heavy ass weight... It creates a stronger abdominal wall
Bailey Tincher a guy in my gym was wearing a belt and straps deadlifting like 60kg (about 130lbs)

All these kids stronger than most guys at my school damn
Any ways I can encourage my little bro to do this? He's got a very strong back and I think he'll be good.
I love how the ad talked about bro science
This was fun to watch
I wish there had been a powerlifting community around here when I was this age. Instead I got farm work. So at 10 I could carry a 100lbs bag of grain in each hand. Good luck to all these kids!
Great upload!
the kids had far better form than the adults at the end
1:22 Where are the spotters either side of all those plates??
"You know Mark Bell, you should tell me things like that." Haha best quote.
for some reason, this reminds me of when my step-dad when I was 13. he was doing a benchpress and asked me to try and found out I could benchpress his Max. like a year later I could bench more than him
I'm 15 and the 22 this month i'm going to join the powerlifting club closest to me and i'm wondering, what kind of powerlifting program should i go for if i'm going for pure strength, don't know if i should go with upper and lower body workouts or push/pull days. I have been working out for around 8 months with just one or two bodyparts a day 5-6 days a week
I want to workout around 6 days a week
Gotta start em young!!!!
This is SO awesome
Good stuff Mark!
So why are there no weights shown? Are we supposed to know what those special equipment weights?
For those raging because of a kids hair cut or ear rings, Michael Landon believed that his strength came from his hair length so he let it grow. He later learned this was not true but it helped him growing up...Michael Landon's Long Hair - The lengthy tresses of actor/director Michael Landon (of BONANZA, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE and HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN fame) were the by-product of a childhood experience when he saw the biblical movie epic Samson and Delilah (1949). Jamara Gibson I think it makes it a bit harder when you mix strength training and cardio, but it's doable.
Jamara Gibson All that running drains your body of energy. It increases your metabolic rate by a lot, so even if you're just sitting down hours after a run you're burning a LOT of calories just to get through the day. Jamara Gibson Don't listen to anyone who says you can't do both. It'll be rough though, and you'll need to eat a lot of good food but it's doable
Don't listen to these idiots sprinting is not cardio it's conditioning! This will benefit your lifts Evan more as you will be more explosive.
Mark Bell was not benching 315 at 13 ...
these kids actually have great form
Is it safe for kids this young to be power-lifting also does it affect their height at all?
Cmd Ctrl only if you have bad form
