I found this super helpful, watched it about 3x. 0.o If anyone is wondering what percent hes suggesting for warm-ups, on squat its: ~ 40%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% Bench: ~ 40%, 55%, 75%, 85%, 92% and Deadlifts: 135lbs, 55%, 75%, 85%
I just wanna say thank you for this guide. Just attended my first meet and having watched the video right before I went really conservative on all openers and felt well prepared for the whole thing. Got 9/9 with only one red light on the first bench and PRs in all three lifts. Very good guide, listen to it guys!
watching this while eating chicken nuggets on that #massing life. Also I don't know if Chad is the one controlling the JTS youtube account but he gave me some cues at the New York powerlifting seminar for my deadlift that has helped tremendously, couldn't thank him enough.
great job. was actually thinking about doing my 1st meet this year. One of my friends contacted me about doing one the same time you guys posted this video.
damn early enough there isn't HD yet, very interested in the tips this video has in store, I've competed before, but I'm competing in Collegiate nationals in about 6 weeks so this is still gonna be a worthwhile watch
Could you guys do an episode of Squat School with the low bar squat? I feel like my knees aren't coming forward enough, and id like to see what you guys have to say about ankle flexion in lowbar
Can you make one for weightlifting as well please? I know that the videos would be similar, but I think that the insight could be super helpful for both sports individually and a lot of people would thank you for it!
Really Really helpful video All questions are coming in the mind this man give all the answers and additional information Superb information Thanks you sir
I competed at a local USAPL meet where I was not allowed to use wrist wraps from an unapproved brand. That was 6 years ago, but I would recommend looking up the approved manufacturers just to be safe. USAPL only allows equipment from companies that pay them a kickback.
I’m 10 pounds over my weight limit and just now finding out that weigh ins for USAPL are on the same day, I’m doomed. I’ve done a couple USPA competitions so I’ve gotten used to the process of doing water cuts
great advice thanks a lot! i want to do my first meet but i dont know how to find a local meet in my country (luxembourg) powerlifting gets very little recognition in my country...
just found out that the only competition there is, is nationals once a year... i dont really want to embarrass myself there when i lift around 350+ when all the other guys in my weightclass are lifting 500 + ...
check out NRW Powerlifting or the federation in Rhineland Palatinate in germany. You can join the german BVDK while not being german. That is only possible when you are not registered your countries IPF affiliate We have a lot of competitions in germany each year. Obviously you have to travel a bit
you can join any competition you want. Noone will point at you and say "hah look hes weak". At almost every competition you will have people deadlifting 300+ kg. Have fun, meet people and make some PRs
Thanks for taking the time to make all these great videos. They are hugely helpful. Meet question: 24 hour weigh in? So you can't travel in one day to a meet and be done?
Wanting to do my first meet I've only been lifting for 8 months and all I have around here is spf wanting to do a good tested federation but I live in arkansas would have to travel for meets 😑
I'm wanting to go to my first competition in the next 6 months. My strength is deadlift but I never use a belt for anything. Is a belt actually required?
@@StrongButAwkward key is follow your regular routine. If you normally do preworkout then go for it before you warm up. Nothing new that will throw you off. Good luck
I got lost in Chad's eyes.
Joseph Jefferson Everyone does...
I was going to comment the same thing!

My first meet I hit a huge PR on deadlift and got super excited and threw the weight down... I was pretty disappointed in myself haha
My first powerlifting meet is in a few days, this helped calm a lot of uncertainties and anxiety im having. Thanks for the great video!

WEEEEEG he's a majestic beast.
Thank you so much for this video!! I’m so nervous about the rules and process for my first meet in a couple months and this helped a lot!
I have my first meet in two days, and I'm super excited about it! Thank you for sharing your knowledge Chad, these are some really great tips! :D
How’d it go?
8 weeks out from my first! Rps 148lb teen division. Full power. Raw classic. I’m aiming to beat the state record total which is 770
So how did that go?

Thank you Chad and JTS! Being 6 weeks out of my first ever meet (USAPL), this video dropped at an amazing time.
This was such a great video, so many insightful details. Thank-you!!

MrSocialish already filmed it. Just waiting for editing.
Juggernaut Training Systems awesome!
Nice video although I have done a powerlifting meet before, I like the education you gave on warm-ups, great advice

thanks so much for this video! really helpful!
great content as always!
This came in handy I'm prepping for my first meet at the moment.
I competed at a local USAPL meet where I was not allowed to use wrist wraps from an unapproved brand. That was 6 years ago, but I would recommend looking up the approved manufacturers just to be safe. USAPL only allows equipment from companies that pay them a kickback.
That was an incorrect application of the rule by them. The equipment fees are an IPF thing, not a USAPL thing.
can someone like this so i can come back.
Couldn't follow the content, got lost in Chad's eyes.
Can you use suicide grip on the bench in competition?
Thanks chad for all the helpful contents.
Great content once again
Thanks bro big help
No problem
Another awesome video from Jugg.
This is amazing. Thank you so much.
This is a great video!! Very informative. Thank you so much

Great information, delivered in an easy to digest manner. I should really get off my butt and sign up for a meet lol
Really informative video - thanks!
13 weeks from my first. Thanks for the advice.

Good guy. Thanks!
I have my first meet next month, and I am going to use the 150% squat strategy you talked about.
I’ll be competing for the first time tomorrow & im clueless. This helped.

If I can squat 215 lbs bench 140 and deadlift 225 and I weigh 120lbs should I even enter. I’m 16.
Yes. If you can lift the bar, you can compete.
WOW! AN ACTUAL POWER LIFTING MAN WHO ISN'T TRYING TO PORTRAY THE THUG POWER LIFTER THAT KO GYM IN VENTURA EMULATES!
4 Weeks till my first meet. I haven't been so nervous.

Didn’t that one hipster girl make a song about his eyes, ocean eyes?
CHAD: question, train or not to train the same week of the meet?
You definitely want to do some light training during the week of a meet to make sure your technique feels sharp
@@JuggernautTrainingSystems excelent!! Looking fwd to try your app soon

no, not required. Good luck, have fun.

Is caffeine along with simple carbs recommended during a meet while waiting between different lifts?
e.g. coffee with some sugar, energy drinks
That can definitely be helpful.
Cool thanks. Just didn't know if too much caffeine early in a comp could lead to sluggishness later.
@@StrongButAwkward key is follow your regular routine. If you normally do preworkout then go for it before you warm up. Nothing new that will throw you off. Good luck
I went up in my first or on of my first 3 meets (unsure) after a technicality but it was only because I had the commands down and the weight flew up
What if I am 16-17 age class and I want to register into a meet would I have to get a ID also or do my parents take care of that?
Should you use pre workout?
Did they ever post the video about recomping after the weigh in?
tips about using preworkout?
I'd make sure you've used whatever brand you're planning on 1-2x before so you know how your body reacts to it.
Thank you! What about frequency and timing? Take it once for the whole day or take a little less but use it before warming up for each lift?
Before each lift is probably best.
nothing with 1-3 dimeth :-D
i lfted 45lbs
Red meat like a sirloin the day of or day before a comp? Mine is at 5-8pm So plenty time to eat before but I was thinking going lean
May i add one. Make sure to empty the tank before you go on..
