10 bucks a pound and a broken car window,,,what a deal
LOL
You don't need a car in SF problem solved
Dang 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The crab boat owner family member works at that news station and was promoting family business...
so glad they always allowed this in eureka california
These crabs in the southbay cali go for $24.99 - $30.00 a pound live
No thx!
SF the only place you can get crabs & robbed at the same time.
With a side of sidewalk feces.
dang, so many lives are lost during christmas time.
Enjoy the mercury flavored crab!
tasty
Damn, $10/lb that's hella!!! SF Supermarket $6.99/lb, still alive......no wonder there was only like, 5 people waiting lol
6.99 lb at safeway
Yeah... but where does that Safeway crab come from 😳
@@SteveinSanFrancisco the ocean? lol
$10 is cheap as a sport fisherman that catches them easily and comercial fishermen I support these men and women!!!…you have no idea what it takes to own and operate a fishing boat/business
the local seafood chinese market in san jose over 60 miles away sells these things live for 5.99
guess you gotta pay the SF poops and needles tax
Name of the place??😃😃😃
Are they fresh out the ocean though like these?
$10lb. Wow.
Lol u thought crab was cheap?
I buy it for 17+ a LB in Texas not fresh lmao
$7.99 at Asian markets. $10 Better than it was at $19.99 just a few weeks ago.
Thats a good price for something fresh
@@tuandang2947 lol u think $10 for crab is expensive? That’s cheap dude, it’s as fresh as a consumer can get.
Cant wait to see the beatdowns for your crab in the parking lot.smash and crab will be on the news
Why do you want negative things to happen 😂
Lmao smash and crab 🦀
Crabs are cheaps but replacing my windows aren’t.
This is awesome but I kinda feel like someone's gonna ruin it for everyone and try to rob them
Yeah or some other issues it’s always something
do you know why i pulled you over today sir?
That happens when they sell to the markets for $4 a#
Wait, so how is this only now “allowed”?
@Emerald Triangle I knew you were a Qnut... Why don't you post your comment about Latin penises again... fascinated to know how you're so knowledgeable about their anatomy
You have to have a retail license to sell to the public. It's a pilot program that was approved to help the struggling fishermen (not a rich mans job) and the program was met with a lot of push back from local businesses in the area, so we'll see how long it last
Who cares?
@@SteveinSanFrancisco did you know SF and cali was built on a republican foundation for over 60 years? Dems only had it for the last 19 years.
@@SteveinSanFrancisco hahaha. React much???
Street females also have crabs on 23rd St. in Richmond.
How much they charge?
Are they less than $10 a pound
@Emerald Triangle ummmm... how would you know 🤔
Bout 25 cents a pound
Born and raised in SF! Good for the crabbers. There is always a “hold out” because the crabbers get lowballed for their catch…say a few dollars a pound. The mark up is huge! Pay them for their product! FOB is the best! 10 a pound is absolutely reasonable. If not the Chinese markets have the best price. Deal direct and cut out the middle man!
Fisherman's Wharf in SF is a tourist trap and a ripoff. Was there 10 years ago, and they were charging $30 for a dead (i.e. cooked) dungeness crab. Could not been much over 1 1/2 lbs. It was way more expensive than out East (where I live) and the dungeness crab is from the West coast - go figure.
If you want crab at a good price, avoid this tourist trap and go to Chinatown on Stockton, where you will find the best prices hands down.
@@msbrownbeast clement street is less crowded and parking is easy
@@msbrownbeast Agree. Cheaper in supermarket
@@t2terminator507 And you get it live too at the Asian supermarkets, and not a dead one that's lying on a bed of crushed ice like at the Wharf.
$10 a lb?? you'd think if you skip the supermarket and wholesaler it will cost less when you buy from the fishmen directly but $10 is a scam
Looked like some good crabs and it's right off the boat?
@@ex2295 so what?? I can buy the same "crap" at my local supermarket for 7.99-9.99 a lb. Why would I drag my ass out there to pay the same??
@@reempire888 lol... you'd rather get old crab from the supermarket just to save a penny... hysterical 😂
@@reempire888 you people are fool's
@@ex2295 Actually, fools like you makes corporations and businesses rich 😆 🤣
How long before people just smash and grab them? 😅😅
Your car will be gone when you get back but you will have some nice crabs I guess
sounds like a bad idea as most of the transactions are mainly cash..criminals are paying attention and boudin won't do shit if they rob these ppl.
You mean they going to rob these fishermen? You shouldn’t underestimate the fishermen. They risk their lives everyday.
On the other hand, the criminals may pay attention to the ordinary buyers like us. After all, THIS IS IN SAN FRANCISCO.
In SF Chinatown market, usually, you get live Dungeness Crabs for $8/LB with all additional labor, middlemen, and shop logistics. $10/lb here does not sound inviting!
You can get 1.5lb crabs or smaller for $7.99. Any bigger and it's $10.00
Fresh right off the boat skipping shipping etc how do you not see it's worth?
@@ex2295 fresh off the boat or not there's absolutely no reason to over pay for anything. The same fishman who sold their crab to wholesaler for $3 charge retail customer $10? I'm not going to make a trip to FMW to get rip off.
@Emerald Triangle You sound more like sales guys who work for either SF port or these sailers... Good luck with getting rid of domoic acid off of these crabs if you think these crabs are of good quality. lol
@@ex2295 Dude Crab being LIVE is what matters irrespective of whether you get it right off the boat or at the store... lol
I see it also comes with typical SF tax, even though they’re accepting cash only. Different parts of the bay, you can get it live for $8lb and $9lb cooked. They sell to restaurants for $4-5lb. With these long lines and cash only prices, they should be charging less.
no this is politicans laudering money with thier cash businesses
What are you talking about? It is already cheap. The fisherman probably sell it cheaper to the whole seller around $4 a pound. But so what? By the time, we get them it is a lot higher.
And these fishermen need to stay in business. So what, if you think it is a buck or two higher? When these guys stay in business longer, we can expect the inflation to make its price a lot more attractive.
Nobody asked you to come to San Francisco to buy our crabs...
@@SteveinSanFrancisco I’m surprised anyone comes to that shit hole city for any reason 😂🤣
Eventdash01. Cheap??? It was 4-5 at this time of the year before the pandemic at Chinatown.
Did the first dude say "live crab from the fish"? 🤣🤣
I'll just assume "fish" was short for "Fisherman's Wharf".
He said, “Yo! Live crab from the fish. We in the Bay…. Yaaah😁😁😀”
It was cold and he was excited to be on TV.
Is it just me or do I keep hearing them say “fresh crap” 😑
Not worth the risk to lose your car windows.
Not everyone drives people can take transportation bus uber lyft taxi to the piers…Even if the person don’t drive a family member can just drop them off to buy those crabs, and maybe drive around the area and then pick them up again !
Yep. Fresh crab and new windows.
Why do you want to drive a car in SF anyway
Awesome for both, the fisherman and consumers 👍. Watching from the Philippines 🇵🇭
With the prices I pay here in Florida, I say good for you all on the west coast.
Dungeoness crabs cost $35/lbs down here in Los Angeles about 1 month ago.
Ha ha ha, I sell Dungeness Fancy Legs for $120 a pound in Ilwaco, Washington Online to 50 states via Fed-ex overnight! and I buy it at $12 a pound for whole crab, you only get about 8 oz of fancy leg meat out of an eight pound crab though.
Nice scam 👌🏻
pay your crab and get robbed lol
damn, these people be like " take my money already!!" when the guy was not even all the way up to the platforn.
Sooo like we’ve done for thousands of years…..awesome
I found out late ... I will get it fresh on Sat... Thanks for the news
1:48. Dude is laughing at all the people willing to make the trek out to the pier to pay for overpriced crab cash in hand 😂
Explain
Bait, gas, time... 10 bucks a pound is a no brainer
@@Bo_in_Seattle Gas and time will add to $10/lb. Live crab $7.99/lbs at the supermarket.
@@t2terminator507 those crab in the bait tanks at the store are usually in rough shape
I got enough crabs 🦀 during my time living in SF. No thanks
Did have them steam whole or in chowder form?
@Emerald Triangletrim the bush
Lucky
Now that's the truest statement I've seen all day... 🦀
@Emerald Triangle I'm sure STD's are something you never have to worry about... 😏
Criminals are doing smash and grabs on crabs
Be careful in SF blame Nancy and Gavin
Let’s go Brandon
Whose Brandon... is that your boyfriend?
@@SteveinSanFrancisco Yeah he has crabs bad
$10 a lb..I rather go Chinese super Markets,,, they selling $7.99Lb ...4175 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94112
$10/lb won't last long. Once the competition kicks in they'll be selling them for $4-$6/lb. I'd hold off for a while
None chance of that my friend.
Competition? There are only so many boats that can catch so much crab …. And you obviously have no idea the amount of money it costs to crab …. The price will go up not down
Wish California wasn't always dumb, and made more laws like this that made sense for the people.
California doesn't give a fuck about people
Sad that crab season starts end of year now. No more Thanksgiving or Xmas crab. Just New Year. Fisherman thus have short season to sell crab during demand.
Free market, love it 😀 can't wait till I can buy some cannabis at a farm instead at of some lame hispter joint where they don't know anything about cannabis..
Lol this is great 👍🏼 but not good for Red Lobster lol haha 😆 but they do have amazing cheddar biscuits lmbo
I'm glad they cut the middle man which is the government :p
Cut out the greedy middle man...I like it...id much rather give money directly to the source, over priced or not...
Yea a limit of fisherman will sell from their boat bc the crab needs to be weighed in first and the receiver who owns the scale is an ass! The receiver is the one lowballing the fishermen while he’s making bank. Need a new law or a port owned scale so the fishermen won’t have to give in to the receiver!
Good, the salt the markets use is unhealthy and taste realy overpowering.
Why did we allow Democrats to suspend this for decades?
This should have been happening the entire time. Newsom is the worst.
In Asian market only $5,99 a LB
I love crabs! Just not down there.
Why couldnt we do this before?
I would go to sf but at this time it's not worth the car break in for some dam crabs
Chinatown $7.99 a pound 🤪
Wait. Isn't this how it's suppose to be??
10 a lb better include a hj
Cheaper than $16 a pound at the store
I wish we could do that in Maryland
Yummy crabs
Yum!
$7.99 here
No
Not even fresh crab could entice me back to visit that once wonderful city. Used to go several times a year.
I'm right in between Pac Heights and Cow Hollow and it's been fine.
Same. Car will get broken into and you'll also get robbed.
More crabs for the locals👍🏼
Last time I got crabs it only cost $20/hr
Wow those are bargain basement rates. Where?
@@parlayin Fisherman's Wharf
What? You got std crabs, for 20 an hour?
I used to catch them in pacifica and give them away for free so idk. Catch like 3/15min maybe more.
Hey good job San Francisco! you solve another problem that didn’t need solving. you helped the fisherman, you help the customers! ….never mind the businesses that sell crab it’s not like they’ve been fubared over for the last two years with Covid and closures. I’m sure eliminating their necessity as the middle man won’t hurt their business model much at all 🤦♂️
way to think before you act 🤔
Well, those businesses can sell other things or offer something else related to crabs. As a consumer, I like having the choice to buy directly from the farmer or source.
Relax, I doubt they’ll notice a difference
These crab fishermen barely get by dude, but good job finding a conspiracy where there isn't one.... Karen 🙄
Who cares. Let people buy from who they want to buy period as long as they are American taxpayer
Went to View Hung today here in San Diego and they're $7.99/lb
I'm not going to applaud you for returning back to reality.
I live in California and nobody sounds like these people when they talk, where did they find these people?
Where in CA are you, I’m curious. Such a big state and very diverse. I happen to grow up in SF, where this port is at. Live in the Bayarea almost all my life. To me they talk fine. They
San Francisco is becoming well known for people obtaining crabs 🦀
win win only if they are cheaper but I doubt it.
"We in the Bay ya heard"...... we don't talk like that out here.
Wow I think this is the only good piece of legislation based by sf for years now
We in da bay
1:56 You just gotta have to use that term 😅
I bet that crab is FOB-ulous. 🤣
Yes, continue still not wearing masks.
I wish they would do this in Boston!
Skipping the store smart
Yum🤤 🦀
Buy crabs in SF fisherman's wharf, comes back to your car and you say, CRAP! someone just broke into my car! LOL
Are you planning on driving your car here from Moscow... Wow you must really like crab 🦀
Beautiful 🤩
Leave them alone.
*Crabs, Lobsters, and Shrimp = Spiders, Scorpions, and Sea Roaches. Yes, you are eating insects dipped in butter.* 🤢
Crustaceans and insects are both arthropods but are a completely different class of animal. Crabs and insects (different classes, Crustacea & insecta) are more distantly related than humans and cows are (same class, mammalia).
@@acslater017 don’t listen to the troll
I think crabs are basically aquatic ticks. I mean, octopus and squids love crabs so…
They're DELICIOUS.
10 a pound is bs not buying it! You shouldn’t rather.
New meaning to FOB, "fresh off the boat".
Du ma!
This is crazy it's only reasonable when the community has the ownership not when the community gives it to the state in the community is no longer benefiting from it the state is good push to something but let's not confuse it if it's $10 can you only imagine what they'll be smashing and grabbing next
Crab is usually around $20 per lb here. Not sure what you're going on about.
Enjoy your giant sea bugs... 🤮
Lobster and crab, while delicious, suffer mightily -being thrown into pots of boiling water. They hurt! don't encourage your children to participate in dropping them into pots and poking them so they don't try to get out. Teaches them that it is ok to inflict cruelty on animals. You wouldn't do it to your dog (or would you?) Happy New Year all.
I believe their exoskeleton don’t have connective nerves like our skin that can feel boiling water, also why they can live in cold waters. Crabs and lobsters are known to detach their claw as a defensive mechanism.
How you gonna compare a crab to my dog
What about insect vs dog?
@Emerald Triangle yes i share the pleasure of eating dead animals 😋
if this is not animal cruelty, what is? I really doubt these people who catch them or the people who buy them to eat are really humans or barabrians in human form.
you think eating plants is not cruel? you are cutting plants live from their roots. Plants are living beings too.
I LOVE MEAT!! And live in the bay. Have fun eating your black fly larvae 🐛
Ok, some of you said it ain’t cheap. I don’t care about paying a buck or two. Hell, I can keep some as my pet. It helps these guys to stay in business to keep the price low.
Wait, now I think about it, this is in San Francisco. I don’t think it is worth risking getting my car windows smashed trying to help the local business.
Nobody's gonna smash the windows on your Kia Rio just to get old McDonald's wrappers 🙄
I’m happy to report I don’t have crabs
I'm sad to report that we can't say the same for your wife...
@@SteveinSanFrancisco I’m safe. But I guess I’ll tell the mailman, Amazon delivery guy and my neighbor to go get checked out.
At $10/lb it's more expensive than a lot of the Chinese markets where you can get them for $8-9.
Oregon is $12-20 a lb. The price at any market reflects the “wholesale price” they purchased it at….crabbers do the hard work and should be paid a decent amount.
Maybe those markets are catching them illegally... 🤷♂️
@@cj9667 We bought two live crabs for Christmas and it was $7.99 a pound in Portland. When the season first started, it was only $6.99 a pound.
