As a Chinese American who used to and still has family and friends in San Francisco when I go back to visits I will definitely make sure I visit those places while there
If you are ever in San Fran next, the Golden Gate Bakery apparently IS open again, but you will need to do a bit of research to get your hands on their famous egg tarts. They literally have a cult following, they are SO good. Unfortunately, their "open" times are not predictable, so you may have to get a little lucky. But if you do, you will not regret it!! I promise! :)
Is just food, even you can make it the same way or better!..The ingredients are the same everywhere in the world, maybe a bit more expensive in other places but in San Francisco I know the cost is higher just because of rent prices.
Harborview in SF is very, very, very high quality. I eat a lot of different kinds of Chinese food in San Francisco and the place is expensive but the quality makes it worth the splurge. Also, Harborview is a nice ratio of almost completely traditional, conservative menu but with slight nouvelle touches.

He also said if he doesn't like a place, he just doesn't include them in the video. This is called survivorship bias. He's got no problem negatively reviewing a big chain restaurant, but he's not about to damage someone's reputation due to his own opinion. Maybe keep that in mind when you see some youtuber denigrating someone's food. It's their own personal opinion, and they could have just simply not included it in the video. In his earlier videos, he did have some negative reviews for some places and he was skewered in the comment section. There was a video on restaurants in NYC Chinatown and commenters actually said if he had nothing nice to say, he shouldn't say it. I am not typically a defender of Mike. He still needs to broaden his vocabulary and work on his enunciation and pronunciation.
As San Francisco is in a 'Death Loop', it looks like he's been getting invitations from the various restaurants to come and make a video about them. They hope it will get them vacationers.
As an adult, I love bitter food. Not super bitter but just enough to change the flavor of what your eating. But it's something I saw we get use to as we get older, because as a kid I'm all about sweet and sweet only like ketchup.
$25 for bone & turnip soup!? Glad you went to San Fran so I don't have to. Loved the city 25yrs ago & will most likely never go back. The city has been literally shit on & it still has places charging $25 for bone broth. And the pretentiousness.
