From a note standpoint no, but then there are no Clapton Licks as well. It’s more in the way they play the notes, that makes their style, it’s the touch
@@BenK. That's true. Clapton would have elements of all the Kings, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Jimi etc etc.. But you can nearly always identify a Clapton solo. SRV was the same. A lot of influences but you could always tell it was him. To his credit, Peter Green did generate a few original licks. Have you a solo in mind that shouts John Mayer? Just curious.

@@oldbalreask Yea, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room. Those Mid Solos show a lot of his Style! I Don't Trust Myself as well, although he always plays those Albert King Licks in these Solos. But really, it's the Attitude of his playing. Also Vultures is a good example for a "John Mayer Style Song"
Huge content you are throwing generously here😀. Very nice licks 😍 and some more added on! I am grateful for this nice selection. Pure gold, thank you! It will keep me busy for some time now!
Ben, Please could you make a tutorial for the lick from John Mayer's advert for Silver Sky SE where he plays it at very end jsut after saying"Some time guitar players can hear how something feels". I have been looking everywhere and also tried to play it myself but you are best picking up licks, Please could you make one ?
Would also love to learn the examples you give for lets say lick 2 with the reverse rake, to actually learn to use it with a context. Do you have tabs for those on patreon ? or consider doing videos on this thing too :D
@@BenK. Great dude!! also stuff like the double stops extra examples, basically any of these licks etc but with context. The examples you played were great !!
So are there any John Mayer licks? I know every blues player has influences but what would you call a John Mayer lick, or are there any?

Which one of these is your FAVORITE one?
He's a great copyist, I mean he really takes everything he learns from other guitarists and makes it sound like his own.
Point out any famous guitarist that isn’t…
what're pickups?
Texas Specials :)
1:35 I like John’s playing a lot. But this part starts to sound a little more like Steven Segal.

C# is one of his favourite boxes
Yea really. He plays in Eflat a lot.
Luckily, you’re an expert. What did Hendrix and SRV play in? E flat.
