NTPs are not learning things for no reason. You will never see the utilitarianism of Ti and Si with your own eyes. It's introverted and unexpressed, after all.

Lead TeNi, I see Te as micro thinking “Id” all the parts and understand their intrinsic properties then Ni settings a reason limit of 1, like Krebs cycle “harnessing chemical energy “ and Ti macro or divergent from 1st principles knows what can be changed or sustained while maintaining optimal flow. I see the introverted functions as setting limits.

The whole 'useless vs useful information' thing has always confused me because I think I'm an INTJ but I'm interested in philosophy, I will only read philosophical texts that I think might actually come up or be useful at some point in my degree, but there isn't really any practical application to me knowing a lot of the stuff that I read outside of a degree context.
Do you think that would class as Te knowledge or Ti knowledge?

So... many TJs tend to view TP info gathering behavior as useless but it is based on TJ’s Fi (as in, TP’s info gathering is useless for the TJ’s purposes at the time).
Ti = need to know for the sake of knowing for some possible future benefit to the group (Fe motivated)
Te = need to know for the sake of applying it for personal need/benefit (Fi motivated)

@@catinthepeng2686 Very helpful, thank you. I fit more into the Te category here, it'll be interesting to see how ACT explores this in the next video.

Strictly speaking Te and Ti are not about useless vs useful information. Te focuses on the outside world so if you're learning stuff because of some external reason, meaning outside of your own mind, then it's Te. Ti would be if you're working on some internal idea or if you're studying philosophy so you can critique it for example.
At least that's the way I see it. I'll give you some more examples to help you understand the way I define these.
Te: meetings, protocols, traffic rules, laws (in the legal sense), in general stuff that is outside of you and concerns everyone
Ti: internal classifications and systems (e.g. Jung came up with MBTI. However the way we use it is more Te like because we agree on common rules and definitions) Ti is also coming up with a different way to solve a problem just by thinking, without using some known method. That kid in math that could invent a new way to solve the equation. Whereas me for example, if you didnt show me how to do something, I was lost.

I am having issues typing myself. I have been typed 2 times, using 2 different typing services, as an INFJ and an INTJ. This was done via email so I’m not 100% convinced of the evaluations. I have been trying to do this on my own but it’s hard to identify my dominant function. Could it be that my dominant function comes so naturally that I’m not aware that I’m using it? What advice can you give me on this?
