Oooh how about garlic butter on top rather than egg wash 😱😍
Barry ..you make me want to make most of what you cook is there a set price of ingredients you use or can you use the cheapest you can find
I make stromboli all the time. It is a lot less messy if you use just meat and cheese inside and serve it with the sauce on the side for dipping. Also, buffalo chicken stromboli is amazing. Grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, mozzarella cheese, and a bleu cheese dressing on the side for dipping. Sprinkle some extra bleu chees in their as well. Can also serve with sliced celery on the side.... perfection
Thank you very much for this amazing recipe Barry. Just tried it for dinner and the familly fell in love with it, STONKIN!
quite lovely, include this on your pizzeria menu.
Thank you for having proper subtitles on your videos. I’m Deaf and RUclips doesn’t make it easy for people like me but I really appreciate you having subtitles that make sense
Imagine being someone who just started watching Barry's videos and hasn't gotten back far enough to hear Seal in all it's glory. How confused would you be with Barry just giving knowing looks every time
MisterMortarious I missed the video where he explained why he stopped
He "baayyyyahhhh"ed at the end
I don't even get where he started that, and/or why
Final Fantasy King Seal is a music artist. Kissed by a rose is one of his more famous songs.
I’ve been watching for years and I still don’t understand the seal reference
Hey, Barry.
When you snuggle with your burrito blanket...
Are you a BARRYto??? 😁😁😁
A recipe for your pizza restaurant could be "Dough-ray-me"
Foooooooor surrrreee (I tried to make that read like 'fa so' etc... but it failed)
Ah but if you play the notes in a different order you get: Doh! Me so fah tee!
@@mrbarrylewis That idea is So Fa out there. Wrong way round, but you’re still welcome. 👌
Mrs. Barry is so cute I can't handle it sometimes
Don't tell anyone this, but sometimes she is a nightmare and keeps me in a small cupboard under the stairs like Harry Potter with the pugs and just a portion of porridge.
@@mrbarrylewis She doesn't read your comments, does she? =D
@@Firsona You know there will be no answer, because he is under the stairs now... 🤣
@@pyrotfd Oh god you're right...
@@mrbarrylewis thats why you're always soooo excited to be in the kitchen!! 🧐😁
he should do a series called "Barry's basics" where he teaches people basic recipes...like the dough mentioned in the video
Ok Google remind me to ask Barry to tell me a story in 12 months time
My guess is that he wanted to use Salt Bae for something in his Kickstarter and the dude threatened to sue him...? 👀
@@mormerill I definitely smell a lawsuit
What's the reason why he doesn't do the seal pun anymore
@@emmi1707 Because it ran its course
@@emmi1707 Its probably mostly because of RUclipss ridiculous music rights policies
Barry, you just got some major cool points from me with that Goldeneye on N64 reference! I also played that game for countless hours back years ago... such a legendary game! ✌️😎
Generally there isn't sauce in the stromboli. You put in meats and cheese, usually ricotta and mozzarella, then roll and bake. Sauce is reserved for dipping.
Here in New Jersey in the U.S. it's a Calzone that has Ricotta and a Stromboli only contains mozzarella.
It's all made by americans pretending to be italian. Seems like a good idea to have the tomato sauce in there.
@@Matt19matt19 Close, but it was by a mix of italians and their italian-american children, but made for americans.
That's what I've generally found to be true. Also, stromboli are rolled like burritos, calzones are folded over like tacos.
More like a folded Pizza.... Which often does have sauce.
This video just made my morning, nothing better than watching your videos first thing in the morning. Thank you for another amazing video!
Thanks Ada
Agreed, it disappoints me when I don't see a new Barry video but at least we have the old content to re-watch.
"Alexa Remind me in a year to ask Barry about the salt bay story" ehehe
I'm 17 now but I've been watching Barry since I was 15 and honestly you make my week
Chloe, I didn't think anyone could love pepperoni more than me, but I think you win. ❤️
A Stromboli instead of a caterpillar cake sounds like my perfect birthday
Dude.... Made a version with crushed olives, fresh basil, salami, fresh garlic, prosciutto, mushroom and red onion. Tell ya what. It was bloody brilliant. Was a huge hit at my place. Cheers heaps brother.
You (and the whole Lewis family) are so much fun. Thank you!
I have to say that Phoebe would not have been my go-to answer for the question "which of Barry's children is currently in a box?".
Maybe she was playing Metal Gear?
I've got it saved on my calendar
You know that first roll i would have done it with a couple of cheese strings so you have a kinda inverted crust fill thing.
Hi I love your content it inspires me to cook and all your videos are hilarious. I’m only 11 but am obsessed with your content
Thanks mate, get in that kitchen!
Chloe's face eating that made me laugh out loud. That was a taste of heaven right there for her. I need to make this with my grandson
Exact way we make pizza rolls here, roll it tighter them like a swiss roll, Just slice them up in portions before put them in oven.
Stonkin' Salami Stromboli, that's one for the pizza shop menu Barry
I made this tonight and omg it was amazing.
Chloe's rolling eye reaction confirmed that I must try this and I'm soooooo glad I did.
If clean warm water is 'Luke warm', does that mean that dirty warm water is 'Vader warm'?
I'll get me cloak.
A 'Strongbowli?' Sounds like a pork, apple, and cider version to me. I'd eat it.
With you 100%, Barry. The Heinz Baked Bean Pizza was ridiculously good. Why they stopped making it, I don't know. It needs to come back.
Stromboli is an American dish, never seen that in Italy.
I'm certain Italians must have something similar.
Mate, it’s called STROM Boli not stromBOli 😗
@@Hampsteri42 Ahhhh, that makes sense, as an Italian from a small village I was like, what is this?!
Calzone??
@@Hampsteri42 Ahh, so sorta like Chinese American cooking. Has almost nothing to do with Chinese other than a few ingredients, but made to American tastes :D
Wtg, great job! I love Stromboli, my kids and I make it all the time!
I love the way you involve the whole family in your videos 🤗
Love the videos! Keep it up! 👍👍
Wowcher, sound good. I'll have to try it out!
This looks so amazing and I am definitely going to try it! Also, your girls are so adorable!
Great video as always!
We are now going to have this for dinner tonight absolutely love the look of this
Omg..... You are both so much fun in this one.
This looks amazing, will be so fun to make with my 3yo!
A new subscriber, there are only a couple of cooks on here that actually make me laugh and are entertaining, you are certainly one of them !!! I love watching people who seem to really enjoy what they are doing as opposed to the usual po faced lot that rarely even smile., thanks Barry.
Please bring back Seal! It makes me so sad when you don't do it 😭
Was just trying to think of something else to make for a supper later this week - looks like this is gonna be the winner! Add in a green salad on the side and YUM!
Made this for dinner tonight. Was delish. Thanks Barry
Looks absolutely nom-a-licious!
Deffo have to give this one a try
Chloe's reaction at the end!
Spot on little one 👌 Sold it!
That looks delicious.
Absolutely hilarious! Great video! Will be adding that to the weekend cheat feast!
Well done,looks so yummy...greetings from Italy 😊
Ahhhh somebody said “seal” on my Zoom meeting for work the other day And I sang out “byeee Yaaaahh”.....I got silence! Hahahaha!!!! Also “news at 10”......dude you crack me up🤣
Did anyone ask you to explain your random outburst or ask if you're OK?
Nah, I’m prone to outbursts so they just ignored me!
That weather looks relaxing to me
Looks delicious. So even kiddos love boxes. No matter the age
That looks amazing! I do love how Barry still uses the music note wooden spoon from one of his gadget videos, two houses ago 😁
Wow, looks great and crazy storm through the window!
Wow, looks great. I'll be trying that one (with my own tastes in mind, natch).
Alfredo, garlic roasted chicken, mushrooms, fine sliced red onions and sweet peppers. 😍😎
That looks amazing
This is getting made as soon as!
Loved your comment “news at tin “ brilliant you made me laugh out load!!
making this stromboli, JUST FOR ME!! Barry, you're too kind.
My high school made a ham and swiss stromboli with a dijon mustard sauce inside instead of the pizza sauce and instead of the pizza dough the crust/bread was crescent roll dough. It was fantastic.
Wow that’s looks amazing my favourite food is pizza and I’m gonna haft to try and make
Loved the video. You should do one on some easy meals for students to make, going to/back to uni etc.
Bayaya! XD Every effing time! Can´t hear you say Seal without hearing that" I LOVE it!!!
I absolutely read Stromboli as "storm boi" LOL I didn't realize until you said it out loud.
I've obviously missed some thing...are you not "sealing" anymore?
Man from glastonbury says YES.much love.
I may be a little late
But i wanna tell this story,
So me and my wife were having a barathon about a month ago, we got to the pizzadilla episode and thought
"That filling would go really well as a stromboli"
So because my wife cant cook, I made the stromboli with the filling from the pizzadilla episode and no word of a lie.
IT WAS THE MOST STONKING THING ON THE PLANET.
(Note that I am half italian and have been cooking all my life, my blood could literally be marinara sauce. This recipe was pretty tricky since the ingredients are quite bulky and made it difficult to role.
But its definitely worth it)
I made a roast beef and cheddar sauce Stromboli the other day. Baked carmalized onions into the dough. It was like an arby's beef and cheddar Stromboli.
You can put up the end of the sides first and roll it then. It also keeps the filling inside during rolling.
I made tamales yesterday! U should try to make them
Look forward to eating this at your pizzeria
I’m only a minute in but I’ve already heard the word pepperoni, I’m so happy for Chloe!!! 🍕
I like ham and mushrooms in my Stromboli.
It's the internet, if I put mushrooms in this thing, half the comments will be about how I ruined it with mushrooms lol
Mushrooms and pineapple will just break the internet fully.
Our local pizza joint will make them with anything you can get on a pizza, so onions, peppers, anchovies, whatever. Though I just like them traditional style.
@@mrbarrylewis I hate mushrooms but as a supporter of pineapple on pizza, I would be cool with it. Just go with the you do you strategy, I don't have to eat it.
@@mrbarrylewis Ruined the Video by Bleeping out Seal Reference 😂 only joking. Stonking Vid as always (Hello 👋🏻 from up North)
Can't wait for the pizzeria! Would a couples cooking class be a thing? me and the wife are excited.
That is SICK yeh!!
Just ordered some pizza dough in this weeks shopping. Can't wait! Stromboli! Stromboli! Stromboli! Get it in my mouth! Nom!
The Stromboli I grew up eating has a mustard, Mayo, and herb mix brushed onto the dough with ham, salami, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and Colby Jack cheese
I’ve never seen a Stromboli made like this before. I’ve always seen it with the ingredients made on one side and then you just fold the dough over kind of like a pocket. Does look quite good.
I was thinking also, if you don't put this on the menu in your pizza restaurant you're crazy!
Would love to know the name of that cooling rack and where to get one. Also nice job for a first try.
Good thing I had something to eat while watching this!
thanks Barry! i won my flat come dine with me with this!!! :)
Stromboli is from Philadelphia and coming from there I also like to say I've never seen it with a sauce inside.
Man, I gotta make me a juicy stromboli this weekend.
Quick tip from a guy that's been messing around with pizza for a while;
kneading the dough right before baking is something I normally don't recommend, especially not with flour. It tends to tighten it up and it can bake into more of a cracker than a light and crispy pizza. I also take the dough straight out of the fridge and make my pizza as quickly as possible to keep it cool, right until it goes in the oven. This seems to help with browning and getting good lift on the edges. Having a cooler dough usually also makes it easier to work with since it's less floppy.
These things apply to regular pizza, and a stromboli may not even see any benefit from my techniques, but I thought I'd mention it anyway because it's given me good results and may aid you in future pizza- and possibly stromboli making. Yours looked nice and tender here though and only you can say wether it could be improved upon or not.
Whenever my dad made Stromboli he started with a rectangular peice of dough filled it and cut the sides into strips to fold over the filling to look like a plait rather than putting cuts on the top i feel like it looks better
I'm gonna make one (when I get everything for it that is!) As I made the two ingredient pizza dough the other week and it was amazing! My only wish is that I had more toppings to put on it than just cheese and bacon ^-^
Great video! It's one of my go-to easy to make recipes! It always seems impress family/friends, with out it taking to much time, effort, or money! Plus there are just so many ways to customize the dish for anyone's particular taste! The options are pretty much endless!
The only changes to your recipe, and this is 100% just personal preference...But I would've foregone with pepperoni completely and instead go with,1) Capicola, 2)A cut-up Italian sausage (one big sausage should do or two average one's will certifiably suffice!), than for veg part I'd also throw in some Sliced Green & Red peppers and a bit of sliced onions. Usually I pre-cook the sausage pieces just a bit so I know there thoroughly cooked, while doing that I also fry the green/red peppers with the onion until the reduce and get a bit char. When I finish with that, I just do what you lay out the sauce, put ingredients in, a roll it up! OH, I'd also use 40 (Mozz)/40(Provolone)/20 combo(Parm) ratio for the cheese. I also, generously sprinkle on sesame seeds and a very light amount of herbs more so for their fragrance than to flavor the bread, right before it goes into the oven!
I've been dying to try to make one with either Ricata or Marscopone cheese or blend of both, Since I think those soft cheeses would work great in a Stromboli Another cool idea I had was to try a dessert variant Stromboli, maybe with a cheesecake like filling and some fresh fruits (Mango, Banana, ect) and some chocolate to finish it off and make it even more luxurious and decadent ! I wouldlove to see you do a video on this again, especially if switch things up and go the dessert route.
Actually, you answered a question I've never been bothered to google! A stromboli is basically a pizza swiss-roll. Knowledge!
when I make something like this, I always use butter instead of egg wash and I use dried garlic powder with dried parsley on top.
Who knew there was so many ways to eat pizza x
Now I am hungry... thaaaaaanks Barry ;)
I like to put all but the bagel seeds on the egg wash and the parsley. Parm cheese too.
The only Stromboli I knew before this was the bad guy from Pinocchio LoL. awesome recipe, this looks so good!
with a garlic dip omg yummmmy
why aren't we dong the Seal thing anymore... That knowing look made my heart sad... LIke whyyyyyyyy?! I appreciated the ending tho
Hey, Pizzaholic here, couldn´t sleep, now you made me want pizza at 5am! *drooling* ;D
I feel special 😂 it was me that tagged you in the Colin the catapillar cake tweet 😂😂
The funny thing about strombolis is that they are apparently like sandwiches, burritos, enchiladas, etc. in that they can be made with whatever ingredients someone wants. There is an Italian restaurant near me that only makes strombolis with the supreme pizza style fillings (bell peppers, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, etc.). But, there used to be another one where I went to university that would only make them with capricola, salami and spicy ham. But, at the school where I teach, they make them with pepperoni, ground beef and tomato chunks.
Lol, you could hear Becky's chair move out before she said yes to wanting to try it... :P
This looks so good! Wonders if I can convert some of your recipes down to one person :)
Why has he stopped doing it?
Chloe's eyes rolling into the back of her head like the Undertaker having a Pepperoni moment 😂😂😂 Kid's a wee superstar!
My lazy pizza sauce is tomato paste, splash of warm water to loosen it, italian herbs, garlic, salt, pinch of paprika (yes, I love paprika!) and then slopped onto a bread product of some kind and topped with cheese, usually shredded mozz, but whatever's to hand works... :P
Seriously considering looking for a home & job in Weston now. I hear there's a new pizzeria due to open, I wonder if they will be looking for staff? 🤔
A collaboration with sorted food will be stonking
