  • Do you have a MacBook Pro A1708 with a dying battery? We'll show you how to replace a 13" MacBook Pro battery!
As a certified technician, I'd advise that if you're not comfortable repairing your own laptop to take it to a professional or Apple. It could end up costing you more money if something goes wrong with the repair.
With that in mind, this intermediate level repair for the Late 2016 or Mid 2017 MacBook Pro 13-inch can take you about an hour with the right tools. You'll also need to find a battery replacement part, which you can most likely get on eBay for around $50.

Thanks for this video that confirms I need to spend the £250 on a technician.

Just used this video to change the battery on my mac. Instruction were extremely clear and easy to follow. By far the hardest part was pulling off the battery. Definitely a two man job.
Thank you so much for this! As much as Id like to trust a technician, I’ve been unlucky and have gotten my laptops back in worse shape than what I handed them in. Do my own repairs now when possibly.
    Thanks again!!

Oh, so glad that our video helped repair your laptop! But I have to agree, pulling the battery out is easier with another set of hands.

Thanks for the great video! Very clear step-by-step instructions. I used some acetone to loosen up the battery adhesive and it came out quite easily. The adhesive strips actually just peeled right off. I was also careful to cover up the screen in case any acetone found its way there…it can delaminate the screen’s finish.
    Thanks!

Great video with clear instructions and great visuals. However, I agree with the other comments that I do not want to try this. Too many ways for me to turn my wife's MacBook into a paperweight.

Thanks! Yeah, it really does stink that they make it more difficult to replace batteries in these newer models. Usually it's a simple take out and replace without touching the other vital parts 😕

Great video ❣️ Can you please tell me about the battery backup of the new battery i wanna know how aftermarket battery performs on MacBook

It kind of depends on multiple factors like if the computer is in active use/idle or how bright the screen is (because full brightness uses twice the power as a half brightness), if it's powering accessories, etc. Usually Intel MacBook batteries land in the ballpark of 6-7 hours on a single charge.

Just did this today, and feel so sorry that you scraped off the adhesive, turns out it's one of those adhesive strips that if you pull from a certain angle, will just come clean off.

Good explanation but I rather give it to a technician.

Oh yeah, I'd totally recommend it too. A lot more work is involved in the newer models and there's more parts that could get messed up in the process.

Great Video. I gave my Mac to A certified technician to replace my screen. When we disagreed, I decided to make it myself. When I opened my computer, the slots of the BMU connector were gone, and the cover of it was as well. Can I glue or tape them?

To be safe, I'd buy a new BMU connector instead of gluing/taping anything.

I look at the model number on the bottom of the laptop and then search eBay for that replacement battery.

Nope. Not doing that. Would definitely f**k it up. Thanks for getting the stupid idea that I could do it myself out of my head : )

Yeah, I don't blame you. These newer models are more of a pain to replace the batteries on. It's definitely easier for anything 2015 and older because you don't have to disconnect anything else but the battery.
