It’s a good take. I think for the 10s roles we have to be giving one to Eriksen. Probably our most technical player and he actually has a good footballing IQ which a lot of our players lack. Another one to try in the 10s is Mainoo. Again, technically gifted and could definitely work. Get them both on the ball in that position and things will happen. Also, I get that there’s a lot of games and rotation has to happen, but he has to start sticking with some of these players particularly in the important positions.
Hey AJ sorry I had to ask you this question that is killing me. What's up with rasmus....we have seen that when he gets the service he puts the ball in the net but....is it just lack of service in this system? Can he be as good as gyorkes? And what do we need to do to get him going in your opinion. My wife and I love your podcast and donate and watch religiously....have a happy new year bud
He can’t hold the ball up well at all and he ONLY makes straight runs into 2 cbs he never makes angles runs. He just chills up top with his back to goal or tries running straight thru. He needs to make better runs
Come on, guys. Give a serious answer to a serious question. He struggles to hold the ball up, and this is made worse by the amount of space between him and the other players, because he's better at short lay-offs (just like Gyokeres). In my opinion, he did make angled runs borh in Atalamta and earlier in United, but I’ve asked the same question as you, Rskizzae. He seems off to me… and in top of that, there’s a general lack of runs that open up spaces, a lack of playing into those spaces, and again, the fact that Rasmus seems off and doesn’t make half the runs he should. I’d love to hear your thoughts, AJ.
His hold up play isn't good enough but let's not forget he's only 21! I really like him and I do think given time, he could blow up to be a top Prem striker
Nothing is wrong with the formation. What we lack is players with the football IQ to execute the simplest of tasks and dumbing down to suit them is why we are where we are today bec every other coach catered to them instead of getting the right tools for the job
Great analysis, AJ! Everything makes sense. United needs more athleticism in those wing back areas and a left footer on the left-hand side. Dalot and Mazraoui are good players, but they are fullbacks. The don't have that athleticism. One or two elite wing backs I think make this team instantly better! Mendes, Davies, Di Marco etc.
Nice video AJ! I agree with you that the team is making progress but our pressing is still awful. The benefit of a 343 system is better pressing shape but we’re not taking advantage of that yet. Amad has shown some glimpses but that has to be done as a team.
There's a reason we play better with amad at RWB, if Garnacho was good enough technically im sure he could play LWB but he's not. We need to shift Amad back to RWB and invest in the number 10 positions and also get another LWB as Dalot is not it
12:15 A tweak he should make is putting Tom Heaton in goal. An old school keeper who will take out man and ball at corners. I made it a point to watch all the games this Saturday and Sunday and concentrate solely on the keeper. Then I studied Onana and I think someone must spray superglue on the line when it’s time for a corner or a set piece because he does not, and will not budge from that effin line!!! 😢!! Eh Voila we have conceded another goal.😤😠😡🤬🤯 apart from that I rate him 12:15
1. Poor Player quality 2. Can't cross for some reason 3 poor decision making in the final third 4. Lack of ball carriers 5. Poor at set pieces Lack of forward passes.
Lack of effort. Lack of physicality. Lack of speed. Lack of general in-game intelligence. (Not for every player, but too many players have too many of these shortcomings).
I've been saying it that his back 3 in build up is too rigid, this leaves only a double pivot in the middle, meaning players from the forward line have to drop off to get the ball leaving no one up front. One player from the back 3 should catty the ball more
Bruno dropping deeper will help a lot imo. Mainoo in the 10 role would do better. Amad is better at RWB, and Mazraoui is better at RCB. Playing Mazraoui at RCB allows us to rotate between him and Yoro, giving Mazraoui some much needed time off for recovery. Also, Antony at LWB is worth a try. He can't possibly do worse than Dalot.
Bruno further back would help our progression and attack, but compromises our defence. It's a serious dilemma unless he can get better at marking his man properly, and quickly.
Everything you've suggested is something that manager has done before. If you put all your front players in from the start, who do you turn to on the bench if one gets injured. We are playing without Bruno so we are light on options
Ten Hag said that you need a good replacement at each position to really be a good squad. Amorim doesn't have that. I look at this United squad and I think we need to sell 7 ( Sancho sale included in that) and buy 7. Sell: Bayindir- (£12m), Dalot (£30m), Malacia( £7m), Casemiro(£10m to Saudi), Rashford( Swap deal to PSG), Zirkzee Swap deal to Napoli) and Sancho (£25m). £84m. With Lindelof, Evans and Eriksen also leaving, the total savings in terms of 10 salaries coming off the books would be £70m. United need: 1 new back up keeper - Manuel Riemann - Free Transfer in the summer- Elite ball playing goalkeeper. 2 Left Wing backs. Alvaro Fernandez £16.7m and Ben Chilwell Free transfer and reduced wage in January(Chelsea want him gone) - Two attacking LWB who fit the system for cheap. 1 Left Centre Back - Gonçalo Inácio £38m - United need height, speed and mobility at the Wide CB spots. Gonçalo Inácio brings that in spades. Martinez can then replace Casemiro as the back up to Ugarte. 1 Centre Midfielder - Angel Gomes - Free Transfer in summer- Ideal player to bring into an Amorim system as he is a great ball progressor and brings a creative spark to CM. 1 Centre Attacking Midfielder - Xavi Simons- £30m plus Rashford - If ever there was a player built for Amorim's system it is Xavi Simons. He wants out and PSG want Rashford, make a deal. 1 Striker - Victor Osimhen - £30m plus Joshua Zirkzee - He isn't a perfect fit but United need a ruthless striker who has the speed and physicality to get in behind the defense. Yes Victor Gyökeres is a significantly better fit but Osimhen is gettable and Napoli are desperate to get rid of him and get value for him. Total £106.7m. The sales and wages going out the door should be enough to cover the transfers and wages coming in the door. GK: Onana, Riemann, Heaton RWB: Diallo, Anthony, Lusale RCB Mazraoui, Yoro, Jackson CCB De Ligt, Maguire, Kingdon LCB Inacio, Kukonki, Armer LWB Fernandez, Chilwell, Amass, Leon CM(6) Ugarte, Martinez, Kone CM(8) Mainoo, Gomes, Collyer RCAM: Fernandes, Mount, Lacey LCAM: Simons, Garnacho, Fletcher FWD Osimhen, Hojlund, Obi-Martin, Wheatley, Biancheri
I didn’t get why we moved amad from the wing and put him in the 10. The first time we did it. We looked isolated. Amad didn’t have space. Then we had defenders as wingers so we had no serious attack power.
Because we're not playing Rashford or Garnacho really (except as a last resort as seen in this game), and Bruno was suspended. Only other real potential 10 is Zirkzee and my god has he been bad. Our "9.5" can't function as a 9 or as a 10. Maybe Eriksen should be tried there, but he'd still need a counterpart with energy and pace. At least if he's further up the field his lack of pace would be covered by the CMs.
@@QuanDanOfficial hopefully not too much but I do agree, he's not going to be able to carry the team for the whole season. I'm hoping it's going to start clicking a little bit more, there's clearly a lot of merit to the system if they can start to get it. If Garnacho can buy in and adjust that would be a massive help, and if Bruno could get a bit better defensively in terms of marking then him being further back with Amad, Garnacho and Hojlund in front of him would give us a lot of attacking threat. Maybe Antony on the right and Mazraoui on the left, that's probably the best we can do for now with this squad. I guess we'll see how it pans out, but this will be a painful season for sure.
@@QuanDanOfficial we do need to bear in mind that this month has essentially been Amorim's pre-season, and switching managers twice mid-season can't have helped either. More training time now should bring some more consistency to our playstyle.
I thought Amad was wasted there, because his talent is so good, we're actually denying him an opportunity at scoring and assisting by not playing him no10. Turns out, we got no one to balance Amad when he's in that no10.
Honestly I feel Amorim made a mistake putting Mazraoui at RWB. I get Yoro is promising and useful, and you want to play Mazraoui, who is one of the best players you have. But putting the 11 best players on the pitch does not give you the best 11. Either put Maz at LWB to replace Dalot, or one of them needs to sit on the bench for the system to work for now.
@@uranusjr I think the idea was to have Mazraoui and Dalot on to give more defensive solidity, but the fact that Dalot can't cross to save his life means every opponent only has to really guard one side of the pitch and means we have no attacking threat at all.

I mean arguably the best tactic for this current squad is the one they played under Ten Hag. Knowing what happened to that guy, I don’t blame Amorim not changing his philosophy.
What is wrong, you ask? It's 'Star Trekkin hits Manchester United'' 1) Ineos were one third through trying to revitalise the team this last summer. They started with the defence. They still had work to do on the midfield and the attack At their rate of progress under strict interpretation of PSR for 4-2-3-1, this was reckoned to take at least another 2/3 summer windows = 2/3 years. (Clue: Fatcat Ratty does not like to spend his money and has only done so when contractually obliged to do so by the Glazers. Cut-Cut- Cut is his preferred mode of operating). Ye cannae change the laws of physics, laws of physics, laws of physics; Ye cannae change the laws of physics, laws of physics, Jim 2) Ratty and his cycling expert woke up to ten Hag's cavortings before the Cup Final, but as Ineos were only in the process of being formed, they felt unable to secure another Manager until post the Cup Final, doubtless expecting one last traumatic loss for ten Hag...but the Gods of Football struck. Well, it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it It's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain 3) Arrogantly discarding stealth mode, Ratty to decided to carry on and Cut-Cut-Cut the Manager.(It is so easy¬ - count the number of Managers under his ownership of Nice, per Ineos ofc). Even then, the emerging Ineos which the hapless Ratty designed for United could not find a satisfactory candidate to replace ten Hag - some candidates, apparently, ungraciously refused the call to arms and spend time in deep outer space..... so, illogically, in the summer, Ineos spent 200M gross on more squad members for the 4-2-3-1 system, extended Hag's contract by one year and apparently, almost immediately, renewed the search for another manager. .... Ah! We come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill, shoot to kill; We come in peace, shoot to kill. Brailsford!, beam me up! 4) Suddenly, Ineos/Ratty -(take your pick)- ridded themselves of ten Hag, then Ashworth in blind rage - and selected a Coach from a lower European league who has equally rigid ideas like ten Hag, but a better command of PR and an enthusiasm for 3-4-3..... Boldly going forward, still can't find reverse. (RIP Dan Ashworth, who sensed that Amorim might not be a good fit) 5) Ten Hag never really knew why it was all going tits up and so wobbled with team selection from week to week- whereas the more intellectually equipped Amorim knows very well why it is all going tits up, but insists on carrying on regardless, with a system not designed for this squad and whose team composition he had no chance to even start redesigning for 2 months after starting. And just for extras for the long suffering fans, Amorim starts a logical system of rotation to prevent injuries, which means his selections to start some matches seem as bizarre as...choosing Mazraoui at 10? ...... Star Trekkin' across the universe. Boldly going forward, and things are getting worse!
Just need a few tweaks A winger should be one of the wingbacks(Amad) Rashy should start our best goalscorer Mazraoui should be rcb with yoro lcb and maguire middle or de ligt Everyone except licha Ugarte mainoo pivot Bruno rashy 2 10s zirkzee up top And we need nuno mendes to play lwb
Utd has to continuously overpay for avg / experienced players coz we are not considered top dogs anymore, these players need time bedding in either due to their age or naivety or both impacting performance on the pitch, this in turn worsens our results and which leads to our weaker position in the transfer market to complete the circle. Utd really need to up their scouting game using data like that of Brighton, overhaul training and ball progressing methods at the academy level. There is no silver bullet solution in terms of tactics to solve this mess, lastly we should put a ceiling on player wages , and negotiate sterner contracts.
I don't understand the switch of manager now I see the picture Ten hag took average players and put them in a team to play but now we see the big picture
Noussair Mazraoui should be playing RCB not RWB. Diallo should be starting at RWB with Antony backing him up. Use their pace and dribbling to get down the line. Dalot should be sold, he just isn't a fit for Amorim's system and good money could be got for him. Casemiro and Eriksen should no longer for United any longer, they don't have the legs in midfield. Eventually I would have Lisandro Martinez replace Casemiro as the back up to Ugarte and get Gonçalo Inácio in at LCB. In January if United can get in Alvaro Fernandez, they can actually start to play players in the right positions. I would have Garnacho backing up Fernandez.
Must disagree. Obviously, there is lack of left side halfback, but in the squad Amorim have solutions on this. Across the other position there are capable footballers that can do the job. The problem is different - in the short time that new coaches have, they changed the system, train how to build from the back and pressing patterns. No set piece routines, no attacking game patterns. It is obvious that United now have better shape - compact vertically, with less space within and can command more possession and to shut down teams, even Man City and Arsenal. The attacking game will come in order when the offensive patterns are established.
@@WayofWyrdlet’s just play Amad at LWB, RWB and one of the 10s. Two Mazraouis and a de Ligt for the back line. Two Ugartes in the middle. And bring back van der Sar in net. We’d be unstoppable.

He can't hold the ball up. Shocking
He can’t hold the ball up well at all and he ONLY makes straight runs into 2 cbs he never makes angles runs. He just chills up top with his back to goal or tries running straight thru. He needs to make better runs
He doesn't get service also his holdup play is awful.
Amorim should not under any circumstance 'tweak' his style... even if it means relegation... GlazersOut Ineos players out.
Amorim should try Antony a lwb like he had Nuno Santos at Sporting
We def need to go back to Amad RWB and Maz at RCB
Need a LWB and the midfield cover, a striker in their prime
😢!! Eh Voila we have conceded another goal.😤😠😡🤬🤯 apart from that I rate him 12:15
There is nothing wrong with Amorin. The players are back-stabbing the manager and are lazy.
1. Poor Player quality
2. Can't cross for some reason
3 poor decision making in the final third
4. Lack of ball carriers
5. Poor at set pieces
Lack of forward passes.
Mainoo would be much better as the 10 but possibly too slow
United need:
1 new back up keeper - Manuel Riemann - Free Transfer in the summer- Elite ball playing goalkeeper.
GK: Onana, Riemann, Heaton
RWB: Diallo, Anthony, Lusale
RCB Mazraoui, Yoro, Jackson
CCB De Ligt, Maguire, Kingdon
LCB Inacio, Kukonki, Armer
LWB Fernandez, Chilwell, Amass, Leon
CM(6) Ugarte, Martinez, Kone
CM(8) Mainoo, Gomes, Collyer
RCAM: Fernandes, Mount, Lacey
LCAM: Simons, Garnacho, Fletcher
FWD Osimhen, Hojlund, Obi-Martin, Wheatley, Biancheri
@ good point. I also think we are gonna start seeing amad form drop as I don’t think he can keep this up when everyone else is lacking. It’s scary
Garnacho and Amad are great on that wingback positions kobbie/eriksen and Bruno as the 10s...and get Gore/casamiro or mazraoui along side ugarte...
Garnacho defends?
When was garnacho great at wingback?😂
Agreed
@Johnwe _Kennedy27 we havent win a game in the prem with bith startibg btw i like amiron but he rimdas me of pepe in thats he sticks to his phisphy no matter what thatss how city have been soo city noodle legs in midfeidl but highljne with onky one natral cb😊
I mean arguably the best tactic for this current squad is the one they played under Ten Hag. Knowing what happened to that guy, I don’t blame Amorim not changing his philosophy.
Alot of Deadwood.
What is wrong, you ask? It's 'Star Trekkin hits Manchester United''
1) Ineos were one third through trying to revitalise the team this last summer.
Ye cannae change the laws of physics, laws of physics, laws of physics;
Ye cannae change the laws of physics, laws of physics, Jim
2) Ratty and his cycling expert woke up to ten Hag's cavortings before the Cup Final, but as Ineos were only in the process of being formed, they felt unable to secure another Manager until post the Cup Final, doubtless expecting one last traumatic loss for ten Hag...but the Gods of Football struck.
Well, it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it
It's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain
3) Arrogantly discarding stealth mode, Ratty to decided to carry on and Cut-Cut-Cut the Manager.(It is so easy¬ - count the number of Managers under his ownership of Nice, per Ineos ofc).
(RIP Dan Ashworth, who sensed that Amorim might not be a good fit)
5) Ten Hag never really knew why it was all going tits up and so wobbled with team selection from week to week- whereas the more intellectually equipped Amorim knows very well why it is all going tits up, but insists on carrying on regardless, with a system not designed for this squad and whose team composition he had no chance to even start redesigning for 2 months after starting.
Aj you just did a live stream but i cant find it
Just need a few tweaks
A winger should be one of the wingbacks(Amad)
Rashy should start our best goalscorer
Mazraoui should be rcb with yoro lcb and maguire middle or de ligt
Everyone except licha
Ugarte mainoo pivot Bruno rashy 2 10s zirkzee up top
And we need nuno mendes to play lwb
I think had INEOS taken over two years earlier, and had more input in building the squad, ten Hag might have done very well. Unlucky timing for him.
Step forward, Anthony!
😂😂😂😂😂
We've been praying it'll work
@@King_Jay... Keep the faith!
Well you forgot to state he has better win rate than ten hag had this season !
We might get relegated this season and still struggle in Championship next season.
This Club is jinxed.
united need pivot like bruno new castle and chunha at amf.
@geccetta I must disagree we have nothing on the left hand side because we have no Luke Shaw or his mate Marcus 6:18
@WayofWyrd possible solutions on the left - Anthony, Amad, Maz, Garnacho.
@@gecattaa and then the right side has who???think🤣🤣
@@WayofWyrdlet’s just play Amad at LWB, RWB and one of the 10s. Two Mazraouis and a de Ligt for the back line. Two Ugartes in the middle. And bring back van der Sar in net. We’d be unstoppable.

I don't see any big managers using it and certainly not Amorim.
WE NEED ANTONY.
Dude, bruno is the best dribbler in the world.
😬
Garna in for united in the big 2025 💀
Ohh now we can give excuse for amorim
Did you think he was going to come straight in with this uninspired squad, no players he necessarily wanted, and no preseason to implement the new system, and just hit the ground running? I’ll have some of what you’re smoking.
Ugarte for captain! It is inevitable. Any player who gives the middle finger to the fans, coming in to the stadium is a CAPTAIN. Never heard of a manager/coach implementing tweaks suggested by RUclipsrs, journalists or who else. So, why suggest? I have, however, seen those suggestions being the reason to create discord between the fans and used as an excuse to fire managers/coaches. Thus I have to ask, what is the point here, other than creating content?
Why do you watch something and waste time commenting on it, when you find it so objectionable? I’m certain your RUclips app has a “back” button. Trust me.
@@scottsinner7530 I think you've answered your own question. Why reply to my comment, if you found it so objectionable? Looks like you should've pressed your "back" button!? Are you suggesting I only watch and comment on content I agree with?! What do you care what I do with my time? Who do you want to control?? Trust you?! You're not making any sense!!
Is this part of an application for channel mod? Go take a hike scottie!!
Why do people still rate Bruno? Eriksen won't be as wasteful as Bruno.
I do love Eriksen, but he also can’t run or press.

I went 3-0 Newcastle. Wasn’t too pleased at the 20th minute. They showed a LITTLE something in the second half, but we’re just so far from being relevant…..
Hasn't Amorim thought about this?😅
CAN T YOU listen or read? The players are insecure and passive.
@JoanaVieira-n3k...l listened, pretty keenly l might add...l know that's the kind of squad we have right now, but will we just keep losing games because the players are insecure and passive?
In your opinion, what should Amorim do to get them out of that so that we can win games?
@@chrishoneyvah9252 nooo... they are learning, theree are other issues, namely with very powerful players and their entourage, for the first time, they are scared to go to clubs that will pay them less and make them work harder.
