I love your attitude about not getting mad and drink some coffee and do some problem solving. I probably would of smashed the thing when the wires broke. I will be thinking about this, the next time something doesn't go right. Thank you for your inspiration.
I am guessing a lot of old videos have been removed. Nobody pops up on RUclips with such polished and well-put-together video stories without a lot of practice, surely! I do love seeing how much Laura has developed over the past seven years, I am looking forward to binging my way up to the Tiny House videos she is releasing at the moment.
+Laura Kampf Bob and GH.Dirty are right, real-life commentary on mistake and adaptations are a very pertinent addition to maker videos, and I think this applies also to videos that are especially well crafted, like yours; Keep on trucking !
I love your attitude when you ran into trouble Laura! I probably would've pulled up a schematic to find where on the circuit board the power should be connected but hey you rolled with it and came up with another plan, that is being an innovative thinker! Cool project.
Laura, I love your channel. Your projects are very inspiring. I'm a hobbyist woodworker from Australia. You have definitely motivated me to gain some skills in electronics and metal work. Thank you for all your great content. Also, love the record of the week. Thank you.
im glad that you said dont get angry and just think out the problem. i do alot of diy stuff. unfortunately i live in a small 2 bedroom apartment and cant afford much. so everything i do is either with a small hand drill or my trusty jigsaw. i hope to get a small desktop drill press one day. its because i have so few tools to work with that i do get frustrated easy. but just to hear someone and see someone have something go wrong and keep cool about it will help me keep cool to. thank you.
so cool! my grandfather (i'm a brazilian with a big german family) had a very similar telefunken boombox in his kitchen. also had an old wooden telefunken TV and speaker set.
Nice work! Easy tip for you, take clear photos of the boards before you start work. A broken wire can easily be traced with a pic. Also a volt meter would have found your 9V also.
I turned a vintage radio into a guitar amp in a similar way, only I had a switch going between guitar in and radio. The casette covering for the bluetooth receiver is really cool
After some wires came loose in an electric guitar of mine years ago, I started taking pictures of electronic devices I open up, as a first step. It gives you a reference if anything goes wrong. Nice work with finding a new solution, though!
Awesome video work and project Laura! gooooood job :) Sometimes these failures on the way are a pain in the ass but usually they force you to come up with interesting ideas and solutions so I like when they happen!
This is an amazing idea!!! I'm in love with your shop!!! I got two of those typography chest of drawers thing and I have a video coming about it!!! Keep it up Laura! :)
Você trabalha muito bem, perfeita a oficina...ideias super criativas...muito bom ... You work really well, perfect the workshop ... super creative ideas ... very good
+Laura Kampf Drilling into plastic and thin walled metal... You know the drill bit likes to jump through the last paper-thin wisp of material and screw through the unfinished hole. That's because the drill flute lifts the material as it cuts. It doesn't need to though, at least not right where the cutting is happening. With a small grinding wheel (one of those brown potato chip disks on a Dremel), grind or blunt the cutting edge of the bit so that when you are holding the drill bit vertical, you're holding the Dremel tool horizontal. You only need to remove enough material from the cutting edge to remove about a half mm of material. The bit will still be sharp, but it the leading edge of the flute will be scraping rather than lifting material. The equivalent effect for a circular saw blade would be to use a blade with a zero or negative tooth rake (recommended for cutting thin-walled material) instead of a standard positive tooth rake.
Love it!! I've got 4 of those BT-cards! One in the car, one in my livingroom and two waiting for the right inspiration! It just came with your video! I'm so making this! Just have to find an old Electrolux radio (Swedish telefunken)!!
Another great video! Seriously good stuff. I liked the aside about the small mess up. Great solution. Look forward to more videos. Another great soundtrack.
Laura your videos are awesome! Your channel is going to explode! I found you from making it podcast. Great work. Subbed. I've got a small but growing channel as well. Mostly woodworking and furniture building.
For the wire breaking... In the future just take pictures of the layout inside what you are working on. That way you have a 'backup' of how things go together just in case of problems. On the plus side...you now have a 12vdc direct-powered boombox :)
You just brought back some memories from my childhood. Telefunken stereo was bad ass back in the 80`s and mid 90`s (at least in Romania along with Sanyo and some other rusians stereos) . TY. I will look up mine if it still exist some place in a dusty place and i will retrofit it with a raspi for an internet radio and MP3 player. TY for the inspiration. You just earned a +1 subscriber.
Can anyone explain: 1.At 1:15 what is she holding? What does she cut off? 2. The switch she gets from her collection...does she connect it to the wires labeled "9V" and are these the same wires she's labeled "switch"? 3. Later in the video she connects purple wires to the switch. Where did these wires come from and what does she use them for? I'm going to attempt this and wish I had more of a step by step. All the editing makes it hard to tell what's what. Any help would be appreciated.
there was no need to dispose of the old power supply, just needed to modify it a bit and you could use it again. But great job totally love the way it stayed mostly intact. 😀👍
Sehr cool! Bluetooth-Moped ist bestellt, altes Radio hab ich auch noch irgendwo rumfliegen ... die Tage wird gebastelt! Danke für die Inspiration - nicht nur diese :)
Great vid! Is it possible to solder a potmeter onto the board? It would be nice if the user could change the volume with the original potmeter of the old radio. (Maybe it's easier if I try to find one with a built in potmeter).
I'm trying to scoop out an old Skantic boombox that isn't working right. The speakers are fine, but the tape player and volume knob have seen better days. Turns out there's a circuit board covering the cassette deck, and a whole bunch of cables holding said circuit board more or less in place, so it's really hard to scoop the cassette deck out. I'm trying not to have to cut all the cables, but I might have to. It's a jungle in there.
+Rian Corcoran thanks you! i have to say that i kinda saw it coming but i was so excited about that project that i didn´t take the time to prevent it from happen...next time i would secure everything with some hot glue before starting :)
Amazing videos! I'm so glad to find your channel through the Making it podcast. Keep them coming. I haven't moved to video I'm only on Instagram maybe some day.
Lovely video. Looking forward to seeing a lot more. What is the cutting blade she uses for her angle grinder? It was in the walnut lamp video as well. It looks like it could be very handy.
I haven’t seen any wires or connections to Bluetooth board to control volume, play and other buttons. Does it mean you need to control it purely on the mobile phone? Thanks
Ive thought about doing this by hard wiring one of those car audio to device transmitters . i just havnt gotten to it yet. you may have inspired me to go ahead and get that done.
Hi Laura, I want to ask you... what model is that circuit you are using? I'd like more info on that if you don't mind. Thanks, and great channel. Looking forward to watch more of your videos
I find the best music make for better work ,i listen to county ,old rock and 80`s music stevey nicks ,bob segar and the silver bullet band .now i am building a work table and storage for my tools .thank you for the idea on the table ,i put locking wheels on it ,thank you again
I do ,i love you because you have a trade that me and others that i work with .i have been at my job for 25 yrs now ,now i teach my trade to anyone that want `s to know how to put two pieces of wood together .Laure i love the trades and i think you are doing a great job keep up the great work .thank you so munch .kiss your dog for me
nice job, i did the same with my boombox exept i kept the tape player but not functional (good remote holder !). It's less powerful cause running on 3.7V batteries with usb charge. And the blutooth module is also USB/SD MP3 and radio with uses the original antenna :)
Awesome video! Been wanting to turn the boom box I had as a kid into a Bluetooth receiver (it still works after 20 years!!) but I'm not tech or engineer savvy 😅
I'm hooked! I love your video production and it has inspired me to look at creating my own videos differently. You have an amazing channel and it's going to be big. This was a great project and keep up the great work. Cheers! 🍻
Like the advice.. ran into a setback when I accidentally "fried" the controller to my ebike with a 48 volt battery instead of the intended 36 volt. I made a modification to the battery with a high voltage "off" switch and had to buy a new controller and a spare ebike motor. Gonna test drive "version 2" tomorrow.
hey cooles Projekt aber warum hast du den anderen alten eletronik kram nicht auch rausgerissen ? zu viel arbeit der ganzen drehknöpfe wieder einzukleben ?
Hi Laura. Great channel! New subscriber here. Really great work. I'm very impressed with the music you use for your videos - where do you get those tracks from? (Sorry if you've answered this already!)

Terrific looking video and great project Laura, can't wait for more.
+Clickspring thank you!! the next video is planned already :)
Mounting that board using the cassette housing was sheer genius! Very, very nice...
I love your attitude when you ran into trouble Laura! I probably would've pulled up a schematic to find where on the circuit board the power should be connected but hey you rolled with it and came up with another plan, that is being an innovative thinker! Cool project.
+Mike Kapotsy cheers, mike...i am just very impatient when it comes to stuff like that haha:) thanks for watching!
I love watching makers like you because you show things that I never would have even considered as a possibility. Kudos!

Laura, I love your channel. Your projects are very inspiring. I'm a hobbyist woodworker from Australia. You have definitely motivated me to gain some skills in electronics and metal work. Thank you for all your great content. Also, love the record of the week. Thank you.
+charlie Thomas thanks, charlie! that is so rewarding to hear!
So cool that you were able to rescue that old boom box. It still sounds great! Good video, Laura.
+Bruce A. Ulrich i have a thing for those old boomboxes...can´t pass them on fleamarkets :)
thank you!
AvE sent me too, these ideas are classic lateral thinking brilliantly executed and presented

With an attitude like yours you deserve to go a long way. And for what it's worth I think you will. Brilliant.
+Alan Wright thanks you alan! i appreciate that a lot
Dude, your style is so palatable. I love it. I can't wait for another.
so cool! my grandfather (i'm a brazilian with a big german family) had a very similar telefunken boombox in his kitchen. also had an old wooden telefunken TV and speaker set.
This is such an original idea! Love those vintage 80's stuf!
Nice work! Easy tip for you, take clear photos of the boards before you start work. A broken wire can easily be traced with a pic. Also a volt meter would have found your 9V also.
I turned a vintage radio into a guitar amp in a similar way, only I had a switch going between guitar in and radio. The casette covering for the bluetooth receiver is really cool
sounds like a cool project
Well Girl what CAN'T you do? 👍🏻 I love your " don't get mad, just drink coffee!" Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration to all!
After some wires came loose in an electric guitar of mine years ago, I started taking pictures of electronic devices I open up, as a first step. It gives you a reference if anything goes wrong. Nice work with finding a new solution, though!
+Jeff Mansfield that is a very good idea!
Truly inspirational Laura! I am blown away...
Laura that's such a good idea reusing a old cassette player for a blue tooth system,i really like the way you think, all the best
Nice build, I have the same Bluetooth board and they are great value for money. The retro stereo is cool.. thumbs up
Great video Laura, nice updating of a cool boombox. Loved the soundtrack as well. Simply perfect! Cheers!

Awesome video work and project Laura! gooooood job :) Sometimes these failures on the way are a pain in the ass but usually they force you to come up with interesting ideas and solutions so I like when they happen!
+Cactus! workshop thank you so much! you are right...those fails can lead to really great ideas!
Watching some of my old favorite Maker videos for some inspiration. Really love this one

My kind of project! I am also messing around with some bluetooth capabilities for a project! Inspiring stuff! Thanks!
What a beautiful workshop. I love those drawers!
You could make a video showing us all what's in there.
you operate on whole new level. inspiring.

So Cool!!! Plain & simple.... So Cool!!! Greetings from South Jersey USA again!!!
Love it!! I've got 4 of those BT-cards! One in the car, one in my livingroom and two waiting for the right inspiration! It just came with your video! I'm so making this! Just have to find an old Electrolux radio (Swedish telefunken)!!
+Torsan1977 oh man! to build one into the car is such a great idea! haha, good luck with finding that electrolux radio!
3:36 - that part made my day :)
Another great video! Seriously good stuff. I liked the aside about the small mess up. Great solution. Look forward to more videos. Another great soundtrack.

Great upcycling, Laura!

Thank you. I've got some learning to do when it comes to video production. The woodworking is there though, haha.
Beautiful Telefunken cassette player!

Ahhh awesome project! :)
Still on my todo list to do list too, to convert an old radio into bluetooth speakers.
+Börzel Makes thanks! go for it - it is a lot of fun.

Great project and workaround, you've got great video style. Thanks for the video.
Nice! Put some open cell foam behind the speakers as audio baffling inside the cabinet to make them sound a bit richer.
Sehr cool! Bluetooth-Moped ist bestellt, altes Radio hab ich auch noch irgendwo rumfliegen ... die Tage wird gebastelt! Danke für die Inspiration - nicht nur diese :)
Looking forward to watching all your videos
+Jim W. nice!
Es asombroso lo que puede hacer, te felicito.
Hi, I don't get a thing, the seaker anda the bluetooth receiver, are powerd in series or parallel?

+Nunya Fishness haha, it really is
I love your videos! Awesome build!
Amazing videos! I'm so glad to find your channel through the Making it podcast. Keep them coming. I haven't moved to video I'm only on Instagram maybe some day.
+Mike Gregory thank you, mike!
Awesome. Couldn't you have looked at the footage you recorded to find out where those wires were suppose to go?
Lovely video. Looking forward to seeing a lot more. What is the cutting blade she uses for her angle grinder? It was in the walnut lamp video as well. It looks like it could be very handy.
I have a working cd am fm tape boombox but I want to just add Bluetooth so how do I do it by just adding Bluetooth?
Nicely done!! Keep up the good work.
I haven’t seen any wires or connections to Bluetooth board to control volume, play and other buttons. Does it mean you need to control it purely on the mobile phone? Thanks
While I LOVE these audio projects... a Telefunken boombox in the United states can be flipped for at LEAST $500. Those things are gold here.
I really love this one, I happen to have one of those modules on its way to me and it's nice to know it fits inside a casette :P
Ive thought about doing this by hard wiring one of those car audio to device transmitters . i just havnt gotten to it yet. you may have inspired me to go ahead and get that done.

Laura you're incredible!
Anyone know the music used in this video? She normally lists it, but not this time, and I'm totally in love with this jam.
Would really like to know as well, none of my 'music identify' apps seems to know.
Came across your channel by accident, could something similar be done with a raspberry pi? Do know that latest version has bluetooth onboard.
Loved this video Laura! I haven't heard someone use the word ghettoblaster in a while! :)
Do you still have this? If so, can you have it in the background of your next video. Thanks :)
I have a question, is the radio and cassette deck still functioning on the box?
Awesome video! Been wanting to turn the boom box I had as a kid into a Bluetooth receiver (it still works after 20 years!!) but I'm not tech or engineer savvy 😅
Wow! Mir ist gerade erst aufgefallen, dass du ja aus Köln kommst! Find ich cool eine "Makerin" in der Nähe zu haben:D
Großartige Arbeit!
I'm hooked! I love your video production and it has inspired me to look at creating my own videos differently. You have an amazing channel and it's going to be big. This was a great project and keep up the great work. Cheers! 🍻

Great video! So very good! I also like your coffee suggestion. Mmmm coffee.
+Awesome Wood Things coffee is my number one problem-solver! :) cheers, mate!
This is such an awesome idea
why not just on a regular amplifier solder bluetooth receiver?
awesome girl!!! great project!!
thanks!!
hey cooles Projekt aber warum hast du den anderen alten eletronik kram nicht auch rausgerissen ? zu viel arbeit der ganzen drehknöpfe wieder einzukleben ?
cool music!!! love you work
This is awesome, nicely done! also 4:11.... seems hot? haha hope you're ok!
What brand of screw drivers are those???
Such an inspiration to watch your videos, thanks
Sei sempre la più grande!!! Brava brava brava
I think my parents have about 4 of those somewhere in the house. How much was the bluetooth circuit board you put in the boombox?
+Dan amzn.to/1H2Mh4p
they are 18 bucks and absolutly amazing! takes a while until they ship but it is worth the wait. have fun with those blasters!
Hi Laura. Great channel! New subscriber here. Really great work.
I'm very impressed with the music you use for your videos - where do you get those tracks from? (Sorry if you've answered this already!)
Me.encantan tus trabajos.. perfectos..saludos..
Hi Laura, great video! Inspired me to do the same and have bought myself an old radio too. I was just wondering if you could share / explain real quick the diagram for the circuit you ended up using? Was it your original plan to use the radio's amplifier as well as the power supply? Thanks in advance :)
Cool ! hey you have the same built in notebook as me :). Wow awesome quality videos
+Gib Clark haha! yeah, i try to get rid of the habit...but it is just too convinient. thank you!
Nice idea!!!👍😉
:)
Awesome new channel!
+gobblesmac cheers! glad you like it
