one of my favorite quotes from Lord of the Rings is about Imrahil, Aragorn and Eomer I believe it says something like "None of the three were touched by battle such was their fate and skill in battle." I am sure I butchered that quote, but it is close.
Just another example of how awesome Prince Imrahil was. I talked my friend's ears off on the way to the cinema to watch Return of the King about how Imrahil was my favourite character from the books and I couldn't wait to see him. Then after we came out of the screening they asked me which one he was, and I just sighed. I'm still sad that I never got to see Imrahil and his Swan Knights on the big screen.
+ James Bennett Wow,I totally forgot about Prince Imrahil and his Swan Knights! Yeah !! You are not far from the exact quote, alas my books are not next to the computer. Without Imrahil, the fighting might have gone in a different direction. The "Dead warriors of the Mountain" are also a HUGE number of ghost like warriors, fulfilling their oath finally by helping Aragorn,as the "King" that he was to become. I remember the thrill I felt as I read them jumping to the ground and fighting ...."these three were unscathed, for such was their fortune, and the skill and might of their arms, and few indeed dared to abide them or to look upon their faces in the hour of their wrath" The three ,Imrahil,Eomer and Aragorn. Indeed Imrahil was in charge of the city while the fighting continued.
An excellent video, an issue which has always interested me is the extremely low population levels which seem to exist all throughout Middle Earth, Gondor for example seems to have very few people based on its land area, if Gondor is representative of a late Dark Ages society, not a more advanced one as Gondor appears to be, one would still expect it to contain just based off the size of its eastern parts at least 4 - 4.5 million people, and presumably be able to field larger armies then what we see in a war of national existence, for that is what the War of the Ring was, defeat would have meant the utter annihilation of the civilisational, cultural and perhaps racial heritage of Gondor.
Gondor has been depopulated after millennium of wars and plagues, remember they have been fighting the orcs basically non-stop for a thousand years which combined with plagues...
I'd just like to say that I really appreciate the job you do in these and that I LOVE your voice. There's just something about having a passionate, knowledgeable, British voice narrating thing that makes it seem so official.
I wish there was more info on the lands of the northern part of Middle earth in the third Age. Did people live there? What about Arnor was it abandoned completely or are there still settlements? A video on that would be grand...
The story of Amroth and Nimrodel isn't as tragic as people might think, because we can surely assume they met eachother anyways later in Aman and lived in peace till the end of time ;)
I absolutely love your lore series! Will you be covering the kingdom of Angmar and those wars, and possibly the nine? I for one absolutely loved your video about Sauron and personally want to hear more about the forces of evil and those who came to serve him evil men and alike! Further more, I would absolutely love a video that addressed the orcs and how they came to be. :)
The principal failing of the movies centered on the poor portrayal of Denethor (way too creepy, not at all the mastermind that had engineered a very protracted campaign to preserve Gondor over decades), of Theoden (also too weak following his recovery - more to do with his move to turtle up at Helm's deep seeming foolish when it wasn't at all in the book - leading the to the stupid need for Elves to help, and rendering Theoden a much weaker foil for comparison with Aragorn, and the silly use of the army of the dead vs. simply a force from the south raised by Aragorn). Cinema. Otherwise they were great! (please pardon my venting - your mention of Denethor brought it on). Great work Arachir! JW
Sindar blamed the wars with Morgoth on the Noldor who wanted to reclaim the Similrils of Feanor. So a blame game is going on,Silvan elves blame the Sindar and they blame the Noldor and they blame the Valar lol. Teleri were the sea elves a branch of Sindar. So are the Falathrum. Edhellond was an Silvan port in Belfalas in Gondor, but I don't know if the silvan elves had a presence there at the time of the War of the Ring or if the men of Gondor took up residence there.
May i ask what to you think about adding [in TAT DaC] Dwarven Longbeards stronghold Nordinbad hidden deep within the Grey Mountains or just as fort or even something, if even existed in lore? Nice videos big like.
In the Unfinished Tales by Tolkien, there is a Chapter called the History of Galadriel and Celeborn more is said of the fate of Nimrodel and Amroth in thar chapter.
I really enjoy these videos, have you read the Histories of Middle Earth by Christopher Tolkien? I was thinking about trying to pick it up in its entirety.
Hey ive been doing alot of self modification to allow ND to recruit all men units form the men factions in the factions homelands but im no worried that all my work will be for nothing because of the new version 1 will undo all my work any way around this that would be rather simplistic because im not modding genius so i wouldnt be able to do anything too complicated please respond need help
Somewhere in my memory I recall elves somewhat likened to dark elves in the legendarium...? Perhaps Unfinished Tales they were mentioned but never described. Were not the Sindar of a darker skin color than all other elves?
I love your lore videos friend :) by the way have you ever thought of recreating the battle of Pelenor fields according to the book? so we can see the Swan knights and the Rohirrim ride together :D
elf related question but elves vid comments disabled. who were the elves that awoke in middle earth but were too afraid to leave for the undying lands? is there a vid with their lore and other details?
Gandalf and Aragon were doing tons of cool shit. Boromir was defending Gondor I imagine. Legolas was elfing it up in Mirkwood. Gimli was dwarfing it up in Erebor. Merry was drinking, Pippin was drinking. Sam was gardening and stalking Rosie Cotton and Frodo was writing poetry and annoying Bilbo. Done.
Aragorn spent a normal man's lifetime and then some, learning the ways of his enemy, fighting in the forces of both Rohan and Gondor (that we know of). He could be likened to Beren, who fought Morgoths forces in the wild for many years. Legolas likely fought in the battle of 5 armies that occurred during the Hobbit. He probably is old enough that he also fought in the last alliance, but that isn't stated in the LOTR or the appendices. (Perhaps it is in one of the other tomes of unfinished works?) The appendices at the end of the Return of the King have a lot of information scattered about, including how Gimli and Legolas eventually tire of Middle Earth and sail to the west. Aragorn dies after spending longer as a king than he did as a chieftan of the northern dunedain. Arwen goes to Cerin Amroth to die. Celeborn spends time with the sons of Elrond, and eventually sails to the west.
So the only reason why Dol Amroth is a fatction in TA Dac is because Arachir is a massive fan of the fiefdom. And now we know why Dol Amroth is so OP in Dac....

The latter but not the former. DA was a faction before I joined. I just overhauled their gameplay. There is strong argument to suggest they are no longer OP. :)
Arachîr Galudirithon no offense but i still don't think tey should be a faction. Like dorwinion shouldn' be a faction either but that is another discussion. I just thin that some of DA units look a little bit...alien? Like the tarnostien guard they just look like they came of another univers and the DA elite archers like some kind of an white irion man
I find Tolkien's works are incomplete and that his legendary were never finished, due to is death. Christopher Tolkien, his son did a good job, getting all his papers of his incomplete works, scraps here and there and but together the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and the History of Middle-Earth basically the origins of Tolkien 's ideas. These were done posthumously. I don't think it was his intent to leave Middle-Earth as it is; but there was more to offer Middle-Earth with more stories. It's a shame that writers don't have the rights to take up, where tolkien left of, EU of Star Wars with different stories.
I don't like the idea of other authors writing about Middle-Earth to be honest. You might like to visit a world that you know, but the world itself is just a part of my love for Tolkien's works. It's everything: the way he writes, the way he incorporates his philosophy, his immense knowledge about mythology and fairy tales, his perfectionism that created a really coherent and detailed world and stories (of course, in so far his limited time in this world prevented this). If other authors would write stories in Middle-Earth, they would feel flat compared to Tolkien's vision. They would feel out of place, take away the magic.
+MasterBombadillo Great username!!! Is your jacket bright blue and your boots yellow ? Hanging round old man willow? Yor comment is brilliant and I stand firmly by your side in support!!(for what it`s worth) Very well stated and I do agree wholeheartedly with you!! (sorry for the misspell-Your not Yor) Hey young Goldberry what be a you doing ,bringing water lillies and flowers yellow?!!
+Halaros correct me if I'm wrong , but that sentence is in the Hobbit and talks about the wines that the Woodland elves drink are from Dorwinion, right?
They did at start, but as is told in Unfinished Tales: "Elsewhere it is told [but mot in any extant writing] how they became separated, and how Amroth after seeking her in vain went to the Elf-haven and found that only a few still lingered there."
Quick question? If you are the new movie director for lotr? Will you make a redo lord of the rings but follow with the books and lore or no?

Albert. I love the films (except the Hobbit but that is because I think they are too lengthy and not a lot happens). I am not slighting the movies at all. I am merely talking about what is different from the books. Don't take it personally. If I seem to making a mockery it is because it astounds me how many people take the film as 100% accurate and then try and argue lore orientated points because of that. That is all. To answer your sarcastic comment: I would make them again and keep everything the same but I would add Glorfindel in. :)
"There's not much to say"
*Talks for ~45 minutes anyway*
And that's Middle-Earth lore for you.
dont u love it😄

Douche
Celebrían is the daughter of celeborn and galadriel, wife of elrond and mother of elladan elrohir and arwen.
love your profile pic. #trEUcanon
Am listening to this while am writing something similar to middle earth. Its actually great.
I hope to hear of it soon
@@realworldforum it might gonna take at least 10 years though
Imrahil actually was the one to realise that Eowyn was still alive, wasnt he?
Just another example of how awesome Prince Imrahil was.

they kinda of remind me of the Byzantine Empire, who's strength was drained by plague, constant war and population decrease.

Ben LaDieu he made a video on arnor
Superb. please accept my heartfelt thanks for your excellent work.
The story of Amroth and Nimrodel isn't as tragic as people might think, because we can surely assume they met eachother anyways later in Aman and lived in peace till the end of time ;)
I'm amazed at how accurate LOTRO is after watching this. Enjoyable as always. Please enable comments on your other videos!
I love Dol Amroth
Me too
Check out this upcoming short film about Dol Amroth /watch?v=uXgy6iTjqNQ.
can you tell me some more about the avari elves?
Great video, Arachir. I'm glad you're back!
Paint my warhammer minis listing to this

The principal failing of the movies centered on the poor portrayal of Denethor (way too creepy, not at all the mastermind that had engineered a very protracted campaign to preserve Gondor over decades), of Theoden (also too weak following his recovery - more to do with his move to turtle up at Helm's deep seeming foolish when it wasn't at all in the book - leading the to the stupid need for Elves to help, and rendering Theoden a much weaker foil for comparison with Aragorn, and the silly use of the army of the dead vs. simply a force from the south raised by Aragorn). Amazing work! Both the mod and your lore videos!
awesome I always loved LOTR but I never learned the lore so it is really good that these vids are back

Amazing video! It would be awesome if you could speak about Boromir I as mentioned :)
In the Unfinished Tales by Tolkien, there is a Chapter called the History of Galadriel and Celeborn more is said of the fate of Nimrodel and Amroth in thar chapter.
I in love with history of Amroth
I really enjoy these videos, have you read the Histories of Middle Earth by Christopher Tolkien? I was thinking about trying to pick it up in its entirety.

You're thinking of the moriquendi, I think, and aside from the mention in the story of Gondolin, I don't believe there's much to tell.
Wait, so how many men does Gondor bring to battle?
In that first picture, the rock near the bottom-right looks like Godzilla's head rising from the depths.
I can just imagine Imrahil walking into a tavern like "Waddup Bois! It's yuh king! Oh don't worry next Thursday I'll be back in belfalas."
I love your lore videos friend :) by the way have you ever thought of recreating the battle of Pelenor fields according to the book? so we can see the Swan knights and the Rohirrim ride together :D
*is literally playing Third Age DaC while watching this as Dol Amroth* *with no shame*
elf related question but elves vid comments disabled. who were the elves that awoke in middle earth but were too afraid to leave for the undying lands? is there a vid with their lore and other details?
Hey, arachir, what is the music that you use in the video?
Can you one about the fellowship after the books
and what they did beforehand (assuming they did anything interesting)
+Jerec 12 yep

You have your comments on the dwarves video disabled so I want to say this for that video:
Damn this was good
Can you please look into the lore of high pass?
thnx for another great vid

No way. It would be no time at all before some entity (ahem Disney) came in and took LOTR down the same road as Star Wars.
Lore of dorwinion lol
There is only about 1 sentence written about Dorwinion in all of the books. Would make for a short video.
Halaros exactly thats the point haha
+Halaros correct me if I'm wrong , but that sentence is in the Hobbit and talks about the wines that the Woodland elves drink are from Dorwinion, right?
That video would be 15 sec long lol
Matija Bjelica exactly!! thats the point lol
What about Anorien?
is Dawn of War coming back?
Why not ...Moria? Love the lore telling, but why not Moria.
Awesome
Btw very good video
where did you get that map?

Yeah, they are a bit behind. :P

Soo....any...any particualr reason Amroth and Nimrodel did not travel together..?
They did at start, but as is told in Unfinished Tales: "Elsewhere it is told [but mot in any extant writing] how they became separated, and how Amroth after seeking her in vain went to the Elf-haven and found that only a few still lingered there."
what about Tol Falas?...
7:17 yeaaaa... thats what he wants to do to her lol

So the army of the dead never goes to minis tirth
Nope. :)

Hmm who will be the character of glofindel? And what plot he will be see
Is denethors wife finduilas the findulias from the first age?
+Black Fire no, she is the sister of Imrahil of Dol Amroth.
but being half eves, have they to chose to be men or elves,? or they are tto humans?
That choice was only given to the children of Eärendil and Elwing. Due to their selfless acts in the War of Wrath.
so amrothian are just higher brred of men but men anyway?
Their lords are yes. :)
thank you ^^
Where were you for 3 months?in the jail.
You have provided no context. This video is like 2 years old.
