Mr. Sytes, just watched your brilliant video because my H4n pro is on it's way to me and I wanted to get a jump on it. This was one of the best instructional videos I have come across, no matter what the product. I am even more confident than ever that I pulled the trigger on this device. Crystal clear video and Crystal clear audio and you have a great speaking voice... Very well done !
Even though it's 2024 and the H4e has shipped, videos like these are still very helpful - I decided to get the 15 year old h4n Pro just today thanks to this I know exactly what to expect
@@mikesytes Hello Mike I know have two Zooms H4n. & H4n Pro I love them both. Keith Kuhn KK Motion Pictures Also on RUclips can you truly say you can tell a difference between those two recorders as far as quality sound ?
@@mikesytes I'm looking for an audio recording device that I can hold up next to my TV to record music and that will sound just as clear as it does on the TV so that I can play the audio later on in my car stereo. Is this audio recorder capable of reproducing that level of sound quality like you hear on your television? If not, is there any other audio recording device that can?
New subscriber here. Your videos encouraged me to add this recorder to my collection for working with paranormal evps. Your videos are a true blessing. Thank you! 🙏🏽
Hey Mike. I've had my H4nPro sitting in a box for quite a while. Now, since we're all quarantined inside I decided to mess around with it. Thank you so much for showing us the little things like how to scroll, enter, etc... Really good job well done bruh. Stay cool.

Nice job explaining the feature set Mike. Now that we are loosening up, on site podcast interviews will be an option again. I have forgotten what a powerful tool this is. Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you very much Mike for the terrific tutorials, so well explained to help us learn all these amazing features of the H4n and so enthusiastically too!! I am new to the H4N Zoom. A singer working on songs at home for eventual new cd. Amazing this has phantom power and so much more! Wow!
Nice video Mike! Similar to another comment I have had this recorder sitting in my gear closet just itching to come out and play. I will be using my H4N for a few different applications including recording speeches as weddings, live and recorded broadcasts and out in the field capturing nature sounds. Thanks a ton for this straight forward presentation!
Brilliant: I used to do workshops for students with the H4n... wish I had seen your demo video first for inspiration. Nice man. Concise but covering all the bases (along with your subsequent video... great). Lovely delivery, all the info in good style :)
Thanks, Mike, this is perfect and explains everything about the Zoom H4n Pro in great detail, I just clicked on to your video because I recently bought one. thank you for helping me to understand to use it and I'm now subscribed to your channel, so I'm looking forwards to your video's and see more of ya content!

I've owned this thing for over 10yrs(the original version non pro) and I haven't used half of its features. It's an amazing little device and I got a great idea watching your video. I'm going to hook up the line out to my wireless transmitter then hook the wireless receiver to my camera. I think that will allow me to have all the control of this H4n and run it directly into my camera so I don't have to sync later AND it will be wireless! Why have I never thought of this?!
Nice overview! I had no idea about the 90 degree/180 degree feature on the mics. Super cool. One thing I would recommend if you get one of these is to get an 8gb or 16gb SD card. That boot up time turns into over a minute and a half with a 32 gb card. Love this little recorder.
Mike Sytes I have a question. I recorded a phone interview.-plugged that into the external 3.5 in the back and I used a mic input into the left (#2). I pull the audio into garage band and it sound like I am just on the left side. I need to balance that out in post. How do I do that? or what should I have done to record it so as to not have that problem? 🤔 thank you for even taking the time to respond. I thought I had it set up properly-
Mike, You are sent from heaven, may I keep you?!! I bought a way too over my head H4n cause I liked that I could record things and play music...did your sd card vid after I tried 2 different cards and thought what’s wrong, I keep getting NO DATA, then I saw this video on your unit No Data, oh, that is what it is supposed to say!! Mr. Sytes, thank you for making this video. I appreciate that you describe the H4N so a beginner can understand, especially describing all of the functions in the menu system. Your video was so much more helpful than the half dozen others I have watched on this item. You have a new subscriber. I am so excited about starting to create music in a little hobby studio. So far I have the PO-33 KO pocket operator for a cheap sampler/sequencer, Beyerdynamics DT770 250ohm headphones, a JBL headphone amp, and a PC. I think the H4n and a condenser mic will be great for capturing sounds and being my audio interface. No DAW yet, I'm leaning towards Ableton Live. Keep up the great work, and I am excited about exploring your videos.
I've been using a H1 zoom for the last few years and I need to upgrade to an affordable recorder/pre-amp to be able to use xlr condenser mics. This review was great and I'm sold on the H4n for my next major purchase for my film making. Thanks for the great review.

great video Mike... I'm good with the videos I make but voice is something new that I'm getting into... Do you use it with NTG4+?? That what I recently bought
Very nice video Mike. I get all the humor also, very nice. When you connect this device to a laptop as a recorder are you able to record into a DAW? Use it as a recording interface into a digital audio workstation?
Finally, a true H4N PRO video. 👌🗣️🎧... Satisfied after watching this video ☺️. I have started doing VOICEOVERS, I am looking for a good recorder/Mic. Should I go for H4N PRO ?
Is there a newer model made out from Zoom ? I'd like to see something with a bigger memory card capacity as well as Bluetooth connection for a headset and finally a custom or generic lithium battery pack.

Thanks for sharing. Good overview. I am narrowing down to this one recorder. I need something very portable and multi-purpose. I lost my house and my music studio in a fire recently, and need to rebuild a leaner and lower cost one.
Really excellent video. New subscriber. Thanks for sharing. If I wanted to record into this instead of a DAW like Pro Tools, if I was just singing along to a music track, would I run the signal out from my mixer (where my Mic is connected to) to input 1 and then run the audio out from my PC that is playing the audio track, out to input 2 and record?
What's the best way to set up the H4N outdoors? I am having a small speaking event (one person at a time) and was thinking of propping this up in front of them on a tripod with a windscreen to record their speeches. Would that work?
I'm a travel video maker. Want to record fine audio, quiet and loud. Ambiance, sounds and speech. But it should be compact because on travels every weight counts. What would you say - does makes the h4n pro sense for me ? thanks for answer.

First Video that shows the Interface possibilities. Thank you. But I have a question about it: is it possible to use the EXT 1/2 Inputs in Interface Mode to record, let‘s say a Synthesizer at an iPad with GarageBand? Thx.
@@mikesytes In the meanwhile I ordered one. About my question: it is possible. But the max sampling frequency is 48kHz. And you have to reset that every time you reconnect the recorder.
