One thing I noticed and correct me if I'm wrong On the back under the battery cover is the switch for stamina mode etc. I find that certain adjustments cannot be made in stamina mode. Other settings can only be made in the opposite mode do you find that to be true ? Keith

Looking into getting a Zoom recorder for intros and outs on my channel, and my god was this video amazing! To the point, no unnecessary dialogue, just right to the meat and potatoes! Awesome job.
if you have a mac, do yourself a favor and edit your vocals in audacity, it's free and you can really make add that extra pop to the vocals for narrating and overdubbing! There are a few good tutorials on youtube about audacity vocal editing, it is quick and easy also, but really makes the vocals shine

The menu only shows Auto Rec and File Name??? Have you heard of this change? There is also no "Mode" choice at all, only "Play Mode". Thank you!
How do I record direct-line mono? I only have a mono out from my PA. When I play back my recording, sound is only coming into the one headphone. I don’t plan to do any post-edits, so I’d like to get sound in both headphones straight from the recording. I guess I could buy a XLR split cable, but wanted to see if there was a way to change it from the Zoom.

Would this work instead of a separate mic and a proper audio interface? If so, would there be a delay? I know it's not made for this purpose but I'm just looking for options. Many thanks!

hi, if I want to record this from a speaker or a soundboard, I know that I will need an XLR or 1/4" cable. I saw reviews where I'll need some attenuators because of the overdrive from the mic. I saw most of those in the gray H4N though. Does this model still have that?
Thank you Gold Pager, I was looking at the line/headphone port and If I wanted to use this MIC to gauge my MOVO pro mini mic I could not it seems to me. I wanted to connect my MOVO VXR10 PRO to this H4n Pro then connect the H4n Pro to my smart phone but there is only one port on this H4n Pro, so there is no way to use this mic that way right?
a question: If I want to connect 2 microphones to the device (not condensers) and i want record with four microphones. Should I choose the 4-channel option? Or stereo option? On the device. Thanks.

Thanks for the video. Can you please help me with some settings? I have very limited understanding of recording. I have a shure sm 58 and a zoom h4n. I only record voice overs on this set up. But there is too much white noise. Its so much that if i remove it in the post, the quality of the audio is also getting poor. Can you suggest any solution for this? Is there a setting that i can do to at least minimise the noise?

No usb c ? I have the h6 recorder , benefit I can change the mic and input on top ...have wheels to set the gain . Don’t see any improvement and in end it looks like they put all in a new case and sell it as new with less possibilities

@@jimgresham5529 after the recording is complete. Use the scroll wheel on the side to go back. Each recording is labeled. Just go back to the one you want and press play to listen.
yes you can: 1 Plug in your Zoom H4N to your computer via usb cable. 2 Use the menu scroller to scroll down to Audio I/F and select. 3 Scroll down to ‘Connect’ and select. 4 On your computer, select H4N from your microphone input preferences.
Really super presentation. Can you export the recording as mp3 or wav file to computer through USB? I don’t use my own editing program like audacity. I outsource that.
Yes! The H4n will appear as an external hd- just drag and drop files. The h4n saves the type of file you recorded last as its default, so you can always change wav/mp3 as desired before starting new recordings. Cheers!

it can, but without a shock mount it will pick up the vibrations of movement. Also, if you dont have stm or quite focusing lenses it will pick up noisy autofocus. There are smaller better options like the rode if this will be used on the fly.

I think you synced your audio about 20-50ms too fast. It look’s uncanny for some reason and I am willing to bet that is what the problem is.

I have one of these but every time I start a new recording it over laps the previous take I did. Any suggestions on how to prevent/fix this?
Sounds like you may have overdub mode on. Try looking for mode

Yes, as long as the effects aren’t terribly soft or quite. Because there will be artifacts when you boost the gain that much.
