This was a PERFECT intro video.
Thank you for sharing the "gotcha" situations. Helpful.
Super helpful. I've had mine for several years and still learned a lot!
Thanks for the great video on this device. I'm considering purchasing this for my RUclips videos. My only suggestion would be to see how it works with mics plugged into the jacks on the bottom. Barring that, it was a great run down on the device, and the little things that waste time when you setting up and getting going with recording audio. All the best, Cheers Rick
Thanks for the concise review. I haven't used one for over a year and I needed a refresher. Perfect!
Thanks so much! You're a very useful sloth, smart, slow and steady, which is exactly what I need to understand stuff sometimes. You gave a very concise and fluff-free presentation, including stuff I intend to use over the next couple of days. Thanks again!
You really had me at the beginning of this video. I was literally googling another video to watch confuse it as I was and then you got me.
Thank you for this video, I was trying to find out how to unlink the two channels and you provided me with the answer.
Thank You, I just bought one on ebay. I just discovered the Zoom U-44 and the audio quality test you did was similar to the test on your video. The PLUG-IN menu info will definitely help me in the FUTURE. GOOD VIDEO
Thanks. I just bought one in 2023. A big help, still.
Perfect basic intro my man! I was interested in buying this product and now I am sold. Thank you sir!
Intro guide but good. i had this used it for audio journaling and self therapy. and gave it to a friend just bought it again for my videos on here. Watching all videos about it so i can properly record my music. Getting two condensor mics.
I just ordered H4n pro and I thought it was going to be hard but watching you I am encouraged thanks for your video. i am going to bookmark your video I may need it again when I get it. Thanks this was really helpful!
Judy
You seriously answered all the questions I had great job man!!!
Just got my H4N Pro and enjoyed your overview. Thanks!
Brilliant, to the point, intro to get you started straight out of the box! Thank you, very helpful.
true! I hate when people talk for 5 minutes before getting to the tutorial
Nice tutorial , he's an easy guy to listen to
Thank you so much for the video. I now understand more than I did before. Blessings!
Just bought one of these today from a co worker. His roommate moved out months ago. Was going through stuff in the spare room and found it. Hasn’t spoken to him since he moved out so he sold it to me for $50.
Score!
had for a while and just decide to make this thing work. I had no idea until I seen your video. I am well on my way now. Thanks much.
Great description thanks! I would have liked a little more like 4 Channel vs stereo recording for podcasts
very helpful advice in buying an H4nPro which I just did. Look forward to using it.
Lol! You got me there :D
I was wondering what are you recording on at the start of the video and how can I possibly trust you with an audio review. Well played... :D
Will the zoom help me in recording phone calls for my podcast.
Wanted to hear a sample of the built in mics
great overview! thanks a lot
Very useful. I wish you had an example using the two xlr inputs. I can imagine how they work, but I am a novie and it would help me to see it working. .
Great tutorial on the h4n zoom pro
I love mine and have been using it quite a bit lately.
Thank you for this video, just picked one up to sample sounds out and about and this helped immensely in learning how to use this new tool!
I just got one today. Thanks for the info
Dude, I don't have a mode setting? I don't have these settings: Tool, Mode nor USB??? H4n Pro model. Is this a bug or something? I just bought one online... What the... Help please!
Edit - it seems that you can't use 4 channel mode or tools in the stamina mode. Problem solved! PS. Great video!
How to change stamina mode to other mode??
@@hemix97 There's a physical switch in the battery compartment, but you still have to restart the unit for the change to take effect.
Thank you. I'm an older Senior and may need a bit more guidence to under stand how to properly use thrH4N
Great video! Lots of useful information. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I gave you a thumbs up.
Thank you. Great job. This was the perfect intro.
Thank YOU! Perfectly helpful
Thank you very much!
Ok this was very helpful. Thank you
Thank you, I bought this for my graduate school music auditions! (:
I got this used on eBay for $150. Seems like a good deal but did not get anything with it and no instructions. Still a decent deal? I have to use this for voice-overs when the basement is loud due to the on-demand furnace during the winter. The alternate location for me will be the walk-in closet in the master bedroom.
Thanks for the great video, very straight forward and to the point. Much appreciated. Question- do you know why the two external inputs record to just one wav file? Since you can use two and set the rec levels individually, I'm just curious why you wouldn't get two wav files for those, and then the one wav file for the onboard mics- give a total of 3 wav files to mix. If you know... thanks!
I would like to know this as well, Did you ever find out?
@@kbowman0016 You can use "MTR" (multitrack) mode for up to 4 tracks, one for each of the L/R mics on top (or the L and R from a stereo mic you plug in the 3.5mm jack on the back) and one or both of the combo jacks on the bottom.
I need to know how to set up this recorder to connect my keyboard in stereo mode using the 1/4” pug inputs located on the bottom
Thank you so much man... I was kinda stuck between zoom h4n pro and sony recorder, which I already have. So just for vlogging, I don't need to upgrade to Zoom h4n pro... I don't see much of a difference here in your video. Thanks again.
Would you recommend doing an interview with this recorder by holding it in my hand and moving it between me and my interviewee - would it pick up the sound well without the lapel mic and be able to have both of us record our voices in the same clip with the one recorder?
just got mine today! thanks for the tutorial!
5/25/23 - Looking for find out how to change the DATE in the recording.
Very informative video. Thank you so much for taking the time to make it!
Very clear and I appreciate that. Well done! Thanks.
Hey! Great vid, very helpful, but, according to the user manual, the 1/8 headphones / line jack is for hp and line output, not line input, cheers!
The one on the side of the unit is line out/phones, the one on the _back_ ("EXT MIC") is line in.
On 3:50 is referring to the jack as a HP OUT and LINE IN, Maybe i didn't get him right, and he is saying that you can monitor the line input through that? All do you can monitor all the inputs (line/mic/ext), and the EXT MIC is not meant to be used with a line level single, you can add a attenuator to do that, and turning off the ext power supply output.
@@StereoImage_IL I didn't notice when he said that; clearly just a brainfart.
I'm wearing headphones listening to this and the background noise is very noticable even when you swith to the H4N Pro. I'm a bit put off.
Thank you, Sloth !
Your video is very good, thank you, regarding the MB/s of memory cards, for the Zoom H4n Pro, can I use a memory card with 120MB/s? Thanks...
Thank you for making it simple!
Wow great info ! ❤️
Have you ever had a "frozen" situation when turning your Zoom on? My h4n pro is stuck at "Now Loading", though it was working fine yesterday. Any thoughts?
Did you change the SD Card? For 2 GB it takes some seconds to load, for 32 GB about 4 min!! loading/starting time. Thats why i use a 2 or 4 GB Card in my device.
Wath is the differents between
this one and the all black recorder
Excellent review. Thank you.
I got an sd card for mine and it just says no data and no card what am I doing wrong ?
@Sloth Tech TV Thanks for useful info , Three questions please: 1. which microphone capsule is used for Zoom H4 Pro?
2. And which of the capsules are best for recording educational youtube videos?
3. which device is giving best sound quality for recording educational youtube video, Zoom H4 Pro or Zoom H8? Much appreciated if you could help.
Great video and very helpful for my new equipment-business “toy”👊🏽👍🏽🇳🇱
Oranje boven
Excellent presentation. Appreciated and subscribed.
This was a huge help thank you so much!
Thanks, does it support 32bit floating recordings?
Excellent! The only thing I would add is that when selecting an item from the menu, be sure to click on the scroll wheel when you want to dig deeper, not the menu button. That really frustrated the heck out of me.
Honestly, the "button" of the scroll wheel is the very worst part of this unit. I once deleted all my tracks using the damn thing, because I wasn't careful enough when pressing it, and "NO" turned into "YES" just as it clicked. Needless to say, I cursed at it!
Thank you for sharing! It was very helpful!
don't have this but am very interested in purchasing ...
I don't know how to delete recordings in my Zoom?
Great explanation, Can you please tell me connect to connect ZoomH1n and Boya BY M1 lav mic to my smartphone so that I can record Audio and Video in together.
WAV/MP3 button won't take me to the different recording format's lists. I don't know if that button is working or is something wrong? NEED HELP!!!
Reverb option available ?
Very helpful actually
When you're recording music, lets say a 12 song band set.
When you press stop to stop recording the first song, does it make itself ready to record the next track separately or start again at the end of the first track like one continuous track. Guess what I mean is does it separate each song you record ?
And does it allow you to finalize each individual track ? Or once you upload the music to your computer, and you can finalize the track onto a cd ??
Thanks for your help & your video !
Thanks for the info here.. I learned a couple great tips
what does the "hold" feature do?
You truly explained it great.
I stumbled upon your video as I was looking for a refresher course for my two zooms that I use, I also just subscribe. Let me ask you.
What is the highest MP3 setting you can use for audio ?
In other words the highest quality MP3 setting ? Thanks
Keith
What is the hold feature for?
I can't see Mode in menu. I know it was there but now I am not able to change the mode. What should I do :( I have no idea what i have done and how to change it.
Thank you so much.
Great review, very well explained.
Get video for getting up and running on my new H4N Pro. I'm starting a podcast. I've ordered a cable for the purpose of recording an interview from someone's phone and then to the recorder. I'll be using my studio mic (AT4050) directly into the H4N and then Google Voice for the connection to the recorder. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!
Can I able to forward the rewined an audio by using which button in this device? 3 or 5 second next or previous?
Good video, thanks!
Thanks Helpful.
Awesome!!!
Just curious, how do you connect and use with a camera or sync audio?
You should be able to run a 1/8-inch stereo cord from the Headphone/Line output directly into your camera. You'll be recording both to the camera and to the recorder, so you'll have backup audio if needed. Since both the video and recorder will have the same recordings, you can use the auto-sync functionality found in most video editors now.
If you want to manually sync audio and video, have your on-camera person clap or snap fingers. You'll be able to find the peak in the audio waveform where the clap/snap is. You'll manually move the audio or video track to that peak is right under the video frame where the snap/clap happens.
When i used this recorder (without a mic) the sound at first sounded good when I played the SD card file on my computer, but then when I clicked on and opened the same exact file, the suond went a bit in and out.
Good job dude
Is this able to be used outside? Like if there is a small speaking event and I put it on a tripod near the speaker, will it capture their audio clearly or will they have to speak directly into it?
Great video thanks, just wish you would have gotten into the 4 track mode
Is it compatible with the Rode NG1 shotgun mic? Done my research and can’t find out
Enchanted edited
Yes and with dynamics microphones as well
It has also buildt in phantompower for that
Fjellfiskeren thanks man
thank you very much
hey, can you also use a chinch cable? or does it only work with xls
Can I record from a mixer? For example, run a cable from the mixer to the H4N to record the mixer output audio?
Just bought mine and yes you can plug right into mixer with headphones jack
I just bought this for $50.. I have the h1n already, hopefully its better
Awesome review...THANK YOU!!! I would like to be able to demo high end home stereo equipment and put it on RUclips...do you recommend the oem mics or using something else with this unit....my goal being to record very high quality audio..base and highs..etc. thank you for your time and help!! Best Wishes!!
It doesn't matter what you use to record, within reason. The main limitation isn't _your_ equipment, but that of your audience. Like, you can never replicate what you hear live for someone using the earbuds that came with their Samsuck phone. The main thing is that your voice should be clear and audible, and the built-in mics will be more than sufficient for that. I presume you've already figured this out given the vintage of your comment, but in case anyone else was wondering...yeah.
Awesome! Thanks.
Would be cool if you could actually name the folders and files. I've had 1 of these for at least 2 years and haven't used it yet lol. Planning on using for my band. For lice shows and rehearsals. That's still the plan lol. Thanks for the tips
Very Helpful.
Thank you
Thank you 🙏 very helpful
