I've had this nifty unit since December 1, 2016. Its way better than my old Tascam DR-05. I am now going through my old analog recordings on cassette tape and digitizing them with the h4n pro. All you do is run an audio cable from my stereo systems headphone jack to the Zoom input jack for external stereo mic on the bottom. Sounds crystal clear with the H4N pro!

What happens when you don't have mode. I have play mode and it does not lead to whereyou are going..Its strange because we have the same recorder. H4n. I don't understand.

Mine doesn't have "mode select" in the menu. And I only get sound on one ear when recording in Stereo. Any clue why this is happening? There's hardly any movement on the left input? It's always been like this and that's why I've hardly used it. Is it broken or can I fix it with adjusting settings?

What's the best way to set up the H4N outdoors? I am having a small speaking event (one person at a time) and was thinking of propping this up in front of them on a tripod with a windscreen to record their speeches. Would that work?

thanks!! I need a recorder that has XLR inputs from a mic. Does zoom make a less expensive recorder that has XLR inputs and same quality. I just need to record from one mic to recorder.

Friend I have this machine at home one year and never had a need to use it I am now dazzling one month = rcado work, I am videographer video editor using various programs mto minhasa issues when I have some musicians friends and would like to use this device directly in the box where are connected instruments and and the singer's voice from me an explanation there is no way I connect the stereo or the name and data. I need your urgent help. I recorded my voice on default setting by different mics one by one. But I can still hear background noise & ambiance. Please recommend me that how I can produce a clear recording like you for indoor and outdoor recording and which type of mic should I use?

My goodness you may have just changed my life..!! I found my h4n so difficult to use that it's been sitting in a box for over two years. By coincidence I was going to pay someone to give me tutorials on it, hoping that if we could do one vocal 4 track recording , one time, that I might b e able to do it on my own afterwards/yes, you're right, I'm a dullard in terms of tech, but I NEED to make little vocal, mostly acappella recordings. So, that said, where are these other videos you've done that others on here have mentioned- 4 track is what I'm looking for. Please put me in the right direction, thanks so much, pete

One question: Have you tried record directly from H4n mics? Are they good? How far can I be from the mics?
