This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Mercedes AMG GLB 35 subcompact SUV with power to spare. This Mercedes-Benz has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission, 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, standard AWD. The AMG GLB 35 is a 5-seater SUV with an optional 3rd row for $1,300 CAD/$850 USD, it has sharp handling, an engaging drive, it’s easy to manoeuvre in and out of city traffic and has loads of power when passing on the highway. It has an AMG exhaust system, AMG ride control suspension with a choice of comfort, sport and sport+ modes and a double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. It’s overall performance is very strong. The GLB-s ride height and large doors makes it easy to get in and out of the vehicle and the boxy design provide excellent visibility creating an open cabin. I think this has a bit of a Mini Countryman look to it but longer. It has standard LED headlights and tailights, twin tailpipes, an AMG specific grille with lettering, an AMG high performance brake system and standard 19” wheels, available 20” and 21” wheels. The AMG night package with black exterior accents, 21” black AMG wheels and the multibeam LED headlights we have on our test model ups the sportiness. What do you get for $59,300 CAD/$49,950 USD? Dual 10.25” screens including a touchscreen and digital driver display, heated front seats, leatherette upholstery, power driver seat with memory, panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, power folding side mirrors and a power liftgate. In the US, the panoramic sunroof and heated front seats are not standard. However, in the US, Apple Carplay and Android Auto plus blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard. These features are not standard in Canada, they are in the Premium Package for $4,300 CAD along with a power passenger seat. Here are some features you can’t get on the AMG GLB 35, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Our test model is loaded with plenty of packages, price as tested $70,590 CAD.

I bought one of these a year and a half ago in Mountain grey metallic with night package. I love it- it checks all the boxes.
Perfect for our young family 👪 and when the kids aren't in the car- fun for Dad when I feel the need for speed. It's fast enough, lots of space and beautiful interior.
Am I the only one think this is the most beautiful MB in the whole lineups?

We considered the GLC 43 as well but with 3 little ones(2 car seats & a booster) we went for the GLB 35 since it has a 3rd row option and absolutely love it. Awesome review 👍.

How is the ride quality? Lots of reviewers remarked that the suspension is very stiff , do you feel the same ?
@@MrAshar101 it's true the 35 compared to the 250 is stiffer, but overall and after 15months with the 35 our family has no ride quality or suspension complaints.
That being said, I drive in sport+ but with the family it's comfort mode all the way. Take care!
@@luthergrefaldagreat ! Youve pretty much summed up what am looking for in a my next car .Move my family around and also have some fun driving when alone . The glb 35 looks like the perfect fit but was really worried if family gonna find the ride too harsh on comfort mode .

@@MrAshar101 I forgot to mention we have the 21" wheels also. But the roads in our area are well kept so that is something to consider as well. Others have mentioned the smaller wheels help but we went with the 21".

Yes!!! A Luxurious Scion xB.. Which the Mini inspired to be. The only reason why I wouldn't buy this vs a GLC is because, this GLB has a FWD based AWD. Although I loved and enjoyed Driving my new Mitsubishi Evolution way back when, I prefer a RWD biased AWD system. That's just me though.. Great video Zack and Andrea!!!!

This is a great alternative to the GLC and GLE. But those 21" wheels are re-donk-u-lous. The 19" base wheels are fine.
After specing it out the way I would want (in the USA), it comes to $55k. Not bad.
The boxy design and big rear seats would make a good taxi/uber. (A very expensive one).
Great review you two! What are your thoughts on it being a 4-cylinder as opposed to v6? Also, what are your thoughts on its engine longevity relative to a Lexus or Acura?
Acura and Lexus is much better longevity I'm not sure but you'll have problems right off the lot

I've had this car for 2 years, it's my favorite Mercedes yet. I had the 2021 gla for one year before this one and I hated it.
but I have to say the older Mercedes drove way better (smoother). my c300 was so smooth and my e-class was nice but a little bit big.
Look for the review of Chevy Bolt EUV. Heard they slam the price for 2023 model year become the least expensive EV in the market. How is it value wise?
As always, excellent video. It sounds like you prefer this over the GLA 35 model, which I recently purchased 6 weeks ago. I considered the GLB next to it on the showroom floor but they did not have the GLB 35 version and I disliked the boxy look of it and preferred the GLA 35 curvy styling. Would you choose the GLB 35 over the GLA 35 model?
I just like it's uniqueness and the boxy design. It creates a lot of interior space and the visibility is great. However, the GLA is a an excellent option, it handles very well. Congratulations, enjoy!

It was the opposite for me the GLA Amg was on the floor model but I dislike the back of it , looks like a Toyota suv i rather wait a lil more for a glb 35 I already ordered can’t wait !

One thing I don't get is that why are there only 2 cupholders in the front? The gear shifter isn't in the way which means you can add more cupholders there. What happens often is that I find myself bringing my water bottle and so do my friends, but then we go and get coffee later on and now we have no cupholders left.
The Genesis GV 70 3.5 is just as much a vehicle to compare with compared to the ones you mentioned.
It doesn't have the class.

The 2022/2023 Mercedes EQB is the electrified version of GLB. The same car with an electric power train.

That column shifter kills it for me. Reminds of an old GM car. Interior is spot on the money, though! Just not in love with that whole column shifter layout.

i feel like the GLB is actually small and definitely consider a subcompact SUV, i wouldnt recommend if you carry passengers regularly, specifically with child seats or a tall person

After riding in an earlier model GLB, not impressed. Besides being quirky, which is cool, little else. If I had that kind of coin, a Forrester, Outback, RAV4, would be more to my liking. Those vehicles can tow, and get comparable to better gas mileage. If CVT is not your thing, the Toyota does have an eight speed auto.
They are slow though, and probably have subpar handling compared to this. I can’t drive a vw Tiguan the same way I drive my 2015 infiniti qx50, it’s just not an exciting feeling.

It is noisy and back seats are not comfortable. new GLC definitely is better with new interior design and better noise isolation. But not as good as GLE
Same here. Those are my main complaint in my old GLb, the seats dont have a lot of cushion. My wife got some back and butt pains after a long trip

I always gasp when you reveal the price of an AMG. I get the appeal but at the end of the day you are dropping 70k for a (fast) sub-compact SUV.

$70K puts it in the same price as a 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. In Canada, I would own the 4Runner any day of the week. Plus it has a full size spare in the back.

Nice vehicle but I feel like I'm too old for this. Looks a bit too go-kart-ish and the interior is just so loud. I guess I'm not their target market.
My exact thoughts
I agree with pretty much everything in this video except they're not talkin about all the problems you're going to have. Yeah it has cosmetic defects build quality issues and the list goes on engine and transmission problems and never ends. I wouldn't recommend this car or any Mercedes they don't stand by their products
I'm surprised Genesis wasn't mentioned as an alternative.
This particular Mercedes does not do it for me. Dislike the exterior design, and it just looks cheap to me though the price tag is not.

To be honest, I actually think GLB looks as ugly as Countryman. It happens to be Mercedes is a marketing genius, in which they are able to squeeze an extra row of seats at the back of a GLA by creating a segment previously only had Discovery Sport. If you count mainstream brand, Tiguan has the same execution without the cachet of a 3-pointed star emblem. Both are from Germans. Land Rover looks better than the Mercedes, although its nasty to drive.
This will run circles around a Tiguan.
Tiguan is slow and has poor handling
Look at the comments section buddy , plenty of us think it looks beautiful.What looks good is very subjective , it may look like the objective truth to the one percieving it but in reality it is far from it .
