I'm so glad I found this channel. So many reaction channels are just reactions, not analysis. The thing I like this most about Chase is that he provides some though provoking insight into the technical aspects of the music. It's not all just "Whoa!" "That's crazy!" "I was not expecting that!". I really appreciate the actual commentary rather than just the reaction.
@@ChaseCarneson I hope you will find time to listen to Jinjer - Vortex. I think it one of the most complicated compositions by this group and it is very interesting to hear analysis from you. Thank you for your reactions/analysis
I found out about randomly through another reacter's channel and it's been a wild ride since! Every song was better than the previous, it seemed. Ended up going to their live show down here in Hollywood last year, and it was absolutely mind blowing! They're in the running for my all-time fav metal band.
@@mr_monopod The first track I heard of theirs was "Sit, stay, roll over", it wasn't my thing, so gave them a miss. Seeing a reactor then react to "Pisces" made me give them another look. I still don't like "Sit, stay, roll over" but love pretty much the rest of their stuff (not a huge fan of "Noah" either)
Yes that is one of their previous drummers, Dmitri Kim, ( I am Facebook friends with him, he still puts out play-through videos of his own stuff ); he was percussion on the albums Cloud Factory and this one King of Everything. He quit in 2016 because he didn't have the stomach for Jinjer's non-stop touring. Great studio drummer and technician, he is still friends with the band and helps out on many of their live video productions. Nice guy and very talented. Side note, they only released Pisces as a single as an afterthought because they felt his replacement Vlad brought something unique to that piece, and the rest is history. Dimitri can be seen in the videos from those albums minus Pisces of course.
Two corrections: 1- Mantulin played drums on Cloud Factory, not Kim. 2- Kim didn't quit the band, he only stepped in provisionally to replace Mantulin and keep the band going until they found a permanent drummer.
You spotted the previous drummer (Dmitry Kim) who was, believe it or not, a "stand-in" drummer - he's now a sound engineer who still works with Jinjer. He filled in until they could find a permanent drummer happy to do the grueling touring that Jinjer undertakes. Amazing talent as a drummer yet his real love was the sound engineering but he still does session drumming. So much talent in this band. Another informative and interesting reaction - thanks!
13:33 that's the exact reaction I love seeing in the faces of those doing these reactions. It brings me so much joy to see people learning to love and appreciate bands that I've loved and appreciated for years.
Watching this again, and there was a tidbit to share about Tati's process. She doesn't really compose her vocals but heavily improvises, so she's going on feel more than on any kind of analysis of the music and figuring out what the best way to perform her vocals in relationship to the musical composition. Fortunately her musical instincts are superb.
I love this dude. I always feel smarter after I watch him break it down. So good. And this has absolutely become one of my favorite bands. I think I’ve said that before though. It’s so true.
This listen made me cry. I have had a hard time with Jinjer and by that I mean it is much harder than any other music I have listened to. But THEY ARE SO GOOD I keep at it and pushing my musical palate. Like when I first was getting into whiskey, keep sampling and sipping little bits. Now it is my favorite adult beverage (bourbon, then Irish, then Speyside and Highland Scotch). The more I listen to Jinjer, the more I can first tolerate this hard a Rock. Then I begin to enjoy it. Sharing with others expands that experience. As I have said previously, your reaction videos are as close to sharing the music with a friend as most of my friends don't like metal (I am 62 but have friends of all ages - still few metal fans). My sister who does, hates Jinjer as they are not prog enough for her. Lol. This is an amazing band and a great song. I love this video. As always, thank you for creating such great content.
Harsh vocals are an acquired taste. I used to hate them, but loved the music so I kept listening. You will eventually learn to understand their use as emphasis for what they are saying lyrically.
That outro is definitely one of my favorite in music. This was one of the first songs I heard by jinjer and it cemented my love for their music. Tatiana's voice is beautiful for those high belts.
my favorite reactor watching one of my favorite bands, what more could I ask for? my suggestion for a future video is "Judgement (and Punishment)" - Jinjer
Nice reaction! Well thought out. After listening to KOE over and over, you realize that the magic Dmitri Kim brings is how well he backs the rhythm; not just the bass/drum rhythm, but he weaves a web all through-out to driving rhythm of Jinjer's songs, while very cleverly staying traditional and out of the way. And he's SUPER tight. There's tight, then there's super-tight like Dmitri. Vlad definitely had his work cut out for him, not just from Dimitri but also the previous drummers - Jinjer has always had VERY talented drummers (even though they never really planned on the drummer fire-drill!), and what Vlad has brought the band needed to get them to the next level of progressive ideas, which is clearly evident on Micro/Macro. Vlad took what the other drummers layed down and really pushed the envelope. And that's just the drummers... 1/4 of what's really a Voltron of metal giants!!
This is still one of my favorite Jinjer tracks, and is actually the track that really pulled me into delving into their music. I had heard Pisces and Who is Gonna Be the One first and thought they were interesting and had cool moments, but this one is what really made me a fan and got me delving into their stuff.
One of my personal favourites of jinjer (if you can have favourites because almost all songs from them are amazing) is "just another" it's definitely worth a listen.
Just for reference in this video, the Drummer is Dimtre. He is now their sound engineer because he broke his back. Vlad took his place about the time Pisces was released.
I saw them live in November and they are great.. Her growling and clean singing is also amazing live, for sure her stage presence, too.. I was at first row and it was one of the best musical experience in my live ;)
AWWW THATS AWESOME YOUR LUCKY I BET IT'S ONE OF YOUR BEST MUSICAL EXPERIENCE IN YOUR LIFE ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED GREEN FURY ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
I might be crazy, but I think I finally narrowed down what this song reminds me of (at least in part). Does anyone else hear some early Voivod in there?
Ok, now since you're one of the best technical and knowledgeable reactors on RUclips that I truly enjoy watching, you need to checkout the "Ape" video by Jinjer. Your head will probably blow off.. lol. Great reactions to everything you do. Awesome!!
Can't go wrong with jinjer. This song does have so much going on in it. For me it's like all of the best things they can do all in one song. Maybe next do Judgement and Punishment so you can find out how the word "booyah" is now a cool metal word. 😂
This was the second song of Jinjer i heard, but it was a live version video... And yes, she can perform it live just as powerfully as in the studio version. As usual, great reaction 🤘🏻
And the fact she can reproduce this live while dancing and headbanging is even more amazing. By the way, Jinjer isn't the only Ukrainian band with an extraordinary female vocalist who sings in this clean/growl style. The other band is called IGNEA. ruclips.net/video/PogzrU8WPjo/видео.html
Man you are definitely one of my fave reaction channels. You impress me with your ability to pick up small details and even predict the next part of the song. You and charismatic voice are some of the most in depth and insightful. Maybe you guys could collab?
So happy you've discovered and are enjoying Jinjer this much. They're phenomenal, I found them last year and have been obsessed ever since. I was lucky enough to get to see them in concert last November when they came to London and it was one of the best nights of my life. Re the drummer, you're right, that's their previous drummer, he left after their King of Everything album, which both this song and Pisces are on, and was replaced by the current drummer Vlad. The live session version of Pisces was actually done mainly to showcase Vlad as they're new drummer. I wanna suggest their song 'Ape' for your next reaction. It's a great song and it's really technical but it's somewhat underrated, there's enought people talking about or reacting to it. I think you'll like it a lot. It's off off of their Micro EP, which also includes the songs Perennial and Teacher, Teacher, along with Dreadful Moments, another highly underrated song. Sorry for the long comment, love your reaction and what you do as always. Have a great day.
this is my current #1 from jinjer and has been for a bit now. Not that any one song of theirs lacks technicality, this just keeps blowing my mind. Can't get enough
FYI the verse is 6/8 7/8 6/8. The extended bar in the middle is what throws you off, also the phrasing of the first bar is more 3/4 feeling while the third bar has more of a dotted 8th (or 16th really) feel and a hemiola. Really creative groove!
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED THEO PINSON ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU YOU LOOK SO COOL AND CHILL
Yesssss been waiting for this one!! Edit after watching: loved your face when the last bit kicked in after the caesura! So many people get fooled there but you kind of knew it wasn't over because of the unresolved way they ended the last phrase. I totally agree with you that they are brave and creative and will keep you on your toes! Thanks for another great reaction
Anything from the live set from Ressurection Fest, but I would recommend Captain Clock. It's closer to how they actually sound in a live setting. Love hearing your thoughts, good pauses as always!
YEP EXACTLY WELL SAID ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED DAMIEN ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU YOU LOOK SO COOL AND CHILL YOU HAVE A GREAT STYLE
This is a band I can admire at arm's length, but will probably never make their way into my heart. (I'm sure they're weeping at home over that.) A lot of skill and creativity went into this. Tatiana is a powerful lead presence - you HAVE to look at her - not to mention her pipes. I really enjoy her clean vocals, and her extreme stuff is impressive. Whoever made the video was super as well, can't ignore that.
Great reaction, thanks. This was the song - intense and technical yet also soulful - that turned me from an interested bystander into a fan. Next up, I would suggest the official video for Judgement (& Punishment) because it's brilliant in a completely different way.
I knew you'd be blown away by this one, my man. Very happy you did the official video over a live version. As I said in my comment previously, for some reason all the live versions of this song I've found have had really poor quality. Plus this video is amazing. I'll have to get in on your polls when you hold them, because I'm not being notified of when you do. Anyway, this is definitely my favorite Jinjer song, and even picking this as my favorite is like trying to pick out the best player of an all-star team. It's very hard to do.
Another fine reaction, Chase. I Speak Astronomy is one of my favourites, it's a genius composition. How's about 'On The Top' (live from Kiev) next. The band are fire and Tati bosses it with a stunning live vocal.
YEP EXACTLY ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED TATIANA TRUTA ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Thanks foe the Reaction!!! This band is pretty Amazing!! I think you would enjoy checking out the lyric video for (A plus or A minus) one of there earlier songs I personally love that song!!!
Great review of this one. It's not my favourite Jinjer track but some fans love it totally. For next one, for you, I would say to look at Ape ( studio from Micro ep ), or On The Top- live in Kiev ( this past December I think think ), you would enjoy either one.
Nobody seems to mention this anymore but it's their masterpiece imo, closely followed by Judgement & Punishment. Really good reaction as the seventeen minutes I spent watching it will testify to!
Always appreciate the depth of your reactions and analysis. This song tends to be more, dare I say, "pop" but has that prog complexity underlying everything. Maybe a trip through more of their older stuff like Exposed as a Liar, Scissors, or Just Another. Maybe Cloud Factory. Thanks for the vid. Cheers
Please listen to Ape next. It's a frenetic masterpiece. The music video if possible. Keep up the great work, your input is extremely appreciated on these songs.
Yup.. that's one of my favorite jinjer songs. How about something from Macro next? Introspection is probably the closest you'd get to an "acoustic" with them.. lol
Me: 5:18-5:24, this is how good I am at picking up stuff Then you come in with so much great commentary and insight that allows me to get far more out of each song. :) I love this channel! Thank you for what you do!
I know there's "better" or more popular songs from Jinjer but this is my favorite so far from what they have release. They're all talented and from interviews I've seen they are so nice, cool, and humble human beings. I pray for their country and their love ones 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I've seen it suggested in other videos you've done of Jinjer's songs, but Cloud Factory is another great song from their older works to give you a feel of their progression. Cloud Factory or Sit Stay Roll Over would be a good next song. After that, something like On The Top or Introspection will be a very interesting contrast.
Yes, different drummer. They've had 5 or 6 over their history, which I find amazing, given how difficult and technical their stuff is. Finding even one who can play this stuff would seem a challenge. Now I'm more convinced that you really should do a reaction to King Crimson. They really broke the mold with unusual time signatures, dissonant-sounding chord progressions etc. I'll give you a link.
Jinjer is such a technically amazing band to listen to! You should check out Rule of Nines by Spiritbox. Another female singer with an just as amazingly technical band behind her!
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED COREY ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU YOU LOOK SO COOL AND CHILL
They are great, I'm glad you enjoy their music. I'm back with my recommendation, Dir en Grey. If you want to see how they play, try their 'takes in one shot' ('Chain repulsion' or 'Un deux'). I think it's a good introduction to a band.
Excellent! Just wait until you react to their live version of Pit of Consciousness from Kiev. Please make a double feature, the official video is awesome with really cool visuals and imagery. The live video is gonna blow your mind Cheers from Norway
Second that and I would add a double for Judgement & Punishment the official video and live in Melbourne to it. On The Top live in Kiev is also amazing.
YEP EXACTLY PIT OF CONSCIOUSNESS IS MY FAVORITE TOO ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED AND ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
If you like Jinjer, I think you'll also really enjoy Lower Definition! Male vocalist for Lower D, but they're very similar in how technical they are and they way they switch between heaviness and lightness.
Jinjer is really something 🙏 technical masters indeed. You should check out Wintersun, song called "Sons of winter and stars", they are also super talented!
Reaction videos that, by analyzing the structure of the song and its strong suits, actually give you ideas are my favorite. Shout out to you Chase. I'd like to think that after reacting to a song and also liking it, you listen to it coupla more times; i suggest you make a few more comments on the previous song you've done from the same band at the beginning of the new reaction... not just general comments like how you liked it, but like more specific technical or structural pointers you might have missed in the last reaction. Or maybe just every once in a while you could make a short video of you revisiting a song (or songs) you enjoyed before and have more to say about.
Would love to see your reaction to Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars (Live Rehearsal). Nightwish's current drummer is their drummer and they about kill him with that song...
Hi ! Yeah, for sure, Jinjer isn't the "easy-listening" kind of band, but that is why so many, incl. myself, have fallen in love with them. Most other songs have become a tad boring lately ! :) Great reaction/analysis as always ! Greetings from Norway !
I think Jinjer’s “Outlander” could be a great next track to check out. It’s one of their older tracks, but it’s still pretty great! ruclips.net/video/XtOYjCkHJak/видео.html
Keep doing what you are doing Im learning a lot from your explanations. As for the Jinjer journey: Their latest album Macro starting with the song On The Top could be a good place to go.
Epic journey! Musically, lyrically and visually! And as usual great reaction and analysis, loving it. You know you won´t go wrong with these guys, but maybe try "Retrospection" official, it´s one of the best tracks from the last album. It´s and amazing song, deep meaning lyrics and good video. Or for a full, fast to the point banger "Ape" official. Keep up the great vids.
I like Jinjer, thanks! I don't know the rules for asking a reaction in your case, but if this qualifies, then would you please react to Symphony X? The song Egypt would be a good introduction.

Jinjer - Judgement (and punishment) music video !!
I cant wait to see your reaction for Jinjer - judgment n punishment heheh
Another fine reaction, Chase. I Speak Astronomy is one of my favourites, it's a genius composition. How's about 'On The Top' (live from Kiev) next. The band are fire and Tati bosses it with a stunning live vocal.
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED JONATHAN? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
@@pamelatyree3521 Absolutely not. I am unsaveable and my only prospect is the nine circles of hell.
Earned a subscriber in me my man, great analysis. I enjoy that its not just a reaction channel and you actually have a great ear for music.
Jinjer are indeed incredible. Thank you for a great reaction.
It's oldest video with previust drummer. Try Judgement and punishment (oficial video). Great reaction.
the detail you put in the analysis is awesome! just watched all ur jinjer reacts. subbed!
Nobody seems to mention this anymore but it's their masterpiece imo, closely followed by Judgement & Punishment. Really good reaction as the seventeen minutes I spent watching it will testify to!
Haha thank you for supporting.
My suggestions for more Jinjer would be either Home Back or Ape. Both are fantastic songs!
He is their old drummer before Vlad (with the amazing Tom & Jerry t-shirt 😊)
If youre looking for a short but intense rollercoaster ride, i suggest "Ape" next :)
Yes!
I get chills after that false ending, every time. Oh, and when they play that slow part, how about the drummer and those ghost notes?
That is one of the greatest videos for a great music. Great reaction once again
YEP EXACTLY ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED MARKO ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Always appreciate the depth of your reactions and analysis.
Introspection is probably the closest you'd get to an "acoustic" with them.. lol
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED GREG ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Me: 5:18-5:24, this is how good I am at picking up stuff
Then you come in with so much great commentary and insight that allows me to get far more out of each song. :)
I love this channel! Thank you for what you do!
If you want to be blown away by excellence drumming, listen to bleed by Meshuggah.
I know there's "better" or more popular songs from Jinjer but this is my favorite so far from what they have release. They're all talented and from interviews I've seen they are so nice, cool, and humble human beings. I pray for their country and their love ones 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I think a huge part of this song is how the guitar and drums get to show off in ways they don't often get to, even in Jinjer.
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED WARREN H ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
@@pamelatyree3521 lol, when you put it like that, do I even need to answer?
Thanks for the reaction and i hope you have a damn good day too !
Peace !
THIS is music with rocks in!
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED SANDRA ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Hell yeah man good to see you listening to this track
Metal is all about energy levels. The growls are just the most extreme energy level.
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED JARED ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Yes, different drummer.
You're killing these reactions. Good luck!
wait until you stand in front of them live. I was blown away :)
Jealous!!!
Absolutely top tier breakdown. I'd love to see you listen to some of their newer ones like Call Me a Symbol!!
Judgement/Punishment..is a nice video also.
Chase, if you want to check out another of their music videos (and haven't yet), check out their video for Ape. It's a blast from start to finish.
Thanks for sharing. I got the chance to witness a rocket launch in 2018. Memorable experience. I shared a pretty cool montage of the trip to my page.
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED AND ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Excellent! Just wait until you react to their live version of Pit of Consciousness from Kiev. Please make a double feature, the official video is awesome with really cool visuals and imagery. The live video is gonna blow your mind
Cheers from Norway
Second that and I would add a double for Judgement & Punishment the official video and live in Melbourne to it.
On The Top live in Kiev is also amazing.
YEP EXACTLY PIT OF CONSCIOUSNESS IS MY FAVORITE TOO ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED AND ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
JINJER - Words of Wisdom (live)
If you want a good live performance check out Captain Clock at resurrection fest. She sounds amazing like always and the fellas kill it!!!!.
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED AND ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Dream Theater time signatures: Am I a joke to you? (The Dance of Eternity)
Jinjer isn't really my style, but I have definitely come to appreciate their skills and talent through watching your reactions.
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED NIMA ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Would love to see your reaction to Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars (Live Rehearsal). Nightwish's current drummer is their drummer and they about kill him with that song...
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED JON ? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
Hi ! Yeah, for sure, Jinjer isn't the "easy-listening" kind of band, but that is why so many, incl. myself, have fallen in love with them. Most other songs have become a tad boring lately ! :) Great reaction/analysis as always ! Greetings from Norway !
Jeez... what a song 😁😂
I think Jinjer’s “Outlander” could be a great next track to check out. It’s one of their older tracks, but it’s still pretty great! ruclips.net/video/XtOYjCkHJak/видео.html
YEP ANYWAYS ARE YOU SAVED ASHLEY? HAVE YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE I COULDN'T IMAGINE HEAVEN WITHOUT YOU
@@pamelatyree3521 I’m an atheist.
Listen to beggar's Dance, it is so different from the rest!
intro (5/8) transition (4/4, 2/4) main riff alternates (6/8, 7/8) The tuning is drop A. Roman has a playthrough video so you can see the chord shapes.
Older Jinjer but I really like this one 😁👍👍
I like Jinjer, thanks! I don't know the rules for asking a reaction in your case, but if this qualifies, then would you please react to Symphony X? The song Egypt would be a good introduction.
Hot damn you even nailed my favorite of theirs too lol
You asked for suggestions ? Try "Bad Water", Tatiana only uses her clean vocals in this song. There's a video and a live version on RUclips.
i think he likes it! tnx for this one!
He definitely likes it!!! Glad you enjoyed.
