My worst nightmare happened when I had to find a local hospital in a foreign country. I've visited hospitals in Suriname, the Philippines, Taiwan, Ethiopia among many more - but this time, I was running around Varanasi, India, to find a doctor to cure an infected cut on my leg. Thankfully, the doctor treated me (in his home living room) and he turned out to be super nice!
What’s your worst hospital experience in a foreign country?

Yea
Yeah, Drew comes off as out of touch in this video
@@TheMysticGod1587how so

For sure! @@brianoconnor1721
Your vids are excellent enough without misleading clickbait titles. Keep it real, Drew!
Health insurance is a scam. I work full time and can barely afford my meds, with insurance.
In India a insulin Cost Around ₹800 ($10)
In U.S a insulin Cost Arround $500 in 2021
Recently I have heard the U.S congress has made a $35 price cap on insulin.
U.S Even after being technologically advanced than India can't serve its elderly with fair price of medicine. In order for the senators & congress man to get those share holdings, insider information and those sweet green lobby papers 💵 into their hands.
I respect capitalism and free market, as my parents struggled under socialism,
Yet Price regulations on essential life saving goods should be implemented unconditionally.
@@ss-bi4frThe doctors in the US act like mafia. Their appointments will be $300 without insurance. They charge this amount to insurance companies also
Not even close.
travelled, had a small scratch and make it a content. That’s how it is
Bless the nice doctor that saw you❤
umm how is this a nightmare??
brother u saved yourself $390 on medications how on earth is that a nightmare
brilliant, so encouraging , everyone there willing to help and point you in the right direction until you got it, seriously bro everyone knows in a tropical country if you get so much as a scratch it needs treatment asap. all of that was your own fault , but happy for you it turned out well, thanks for vid
Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
I have appreciated all your videos up until this one- thanks for those. Why was this your worst nightmare? It turned out so well- I felt click-baited.
All of his videos are Clickbait 😂
@@dwaynefoley1020 Haven't experienced that, but this was lol.
For real, disappointed in Drew
This is a great video, but the “worst nightmare” part of the title wasn’t really necessary
Much love brother drew always supporting have blessed Wednesday brother always sending positive vibes keep up amazing work proud of you!!
Would love to hear more about the healthcare in the different countries that you go to.
Hey Drew, cool video, hope you get better soon. I lived for a year in India and I got sick many times, going to the Hospital was one of the worst and most challenging experiences that I had when I lived there. Once I was feeling very sick, and I went to the doctor and they ran some blood tests and so on and told me that it was just an allergy reaction. 6 months later I returned to the same Hospital and there was a new doctor who took a look at my file she told me " Oh you had Dengue fever 6 months ago, right!? ", so yeah I had Dengue fever without even knowing it 😅 India is simply an amazing country, with great culture and food, and I now when I think about that I just see it as a part of the experience.
Greetings from Costa Rica.
Keep us posted!
When we lived in the middle east (kuwait) we used to go to Bangalore india to get medical checkups and a years supply of medicine. Good prices and quality.
You should visit the Indian Himalayas, not the touristy places but ones which are more obscure with less people, there is no such place as the Himalayas believe me
yes absolutely, been there
I'm Filipino and i think the peaceful and clean place in india is in Northeast and close to Nepal himalayas due to peoples mindset obviously

no harm in getting antibiotics
@@luxgame246 I feel so bad for you.
@@kylegray4542 lol why
@@kylegray4542 not as bad as we feel for you
Absolutely not. The doctor prescribed him relatively strong antibiotics with broad spectrum which i assume is needed in hot humid countires such as India Where the bacteria thrive. You don’t want to underestimate skin infections there. Good job for the doctor
Very interesting to see how medical practices work around the world.
This is one the best videos out there. So real. Your content is getting better every day.
😂
Kudos to the good old doctor!
How is this worst nightmare
Excellent
Without doctors the prescription nurse does not provide any type of injection or medicine in India except emergency. You can't give an order to take an injection, according to your condition doctor's prescribed treatment.
love the video
Get well soon drew!🍀
Wonderful
As a Physician this was very interesting to watch.... Almost the same about my country.....
What wasbtje outcome? I assume you got better......
Another querion Drew.... I do remember from older videos that you mentioned having travel insurance with World Nomads? Please correct me if I'm wrong.....
Where are you from?
As a nurse I loved this video.😊
get better soon, my bro!
I am glad you were able to meet with the doctor.
Thank you!
@@MoreTravelsWithDrewBinsky you’re welcome
This seemed to be as easy of a doctors experience as anyone can have anywhere
Excellent video by an young adventurous American excellent
I'm glad you were able to see a physician. 😊
I want that update ASAP, I want to know what happened to that leg.
He had to have it amputated a week later
You should keep a tube of Neosporin in your bag. Don't want sepsis in a foreign country 🤙🏼🏵️💚
And pick up some rubbing alcohol to clean out wounds. For basic things, the pharmacists can usually recommend what meds you need as docs can be pricey abroad (this one was cheap to me and I haven't been an ex-pat in over 25 years). They helped me with the correct antibiotics for bronchitis, typhoid fever, etc., in Latin America. But, it's always best to see a doctor if you can afford one.
What was the currency exchange app that he was using at the pharmacy?
Seriously 😱😱😱😱 I mean I have never been to north India.. Except the Delhi airport and a couple of. Universities there. But bro I am so thankful for South India. ❤️❤️❤️ This is like the 1980s. North India seems to be trapped in a time capsule😑
The doctor looks nice.
He got a pain medicine for a scratch?! Dang there are people here with horrible chronic pain and have no pain meds! Wtf?!
damn I thought I was paranoid and always getting in the craziest situations but you win.
Man, i wish going to the hospital and getting medicine was THIS easy here.
Imagine that.. having to duck down a dirty alleyway to get a basic need met. Sadly that's the direction OUR country, the US, is heading. Especially with women's health care.
Imagine paying a fak load of money for basic medicines.
I’d watch your videos even if they didn’t have a title 😂 amazing channel!
Can you share your tips to treat food poisoning?
I have had Salmonella poisoning twice from eggs making my intestines feel like they were twisting in knots for 2 hours straight till it passed, so I would like to know too Drew???
take charcoal tablets to help induce vomiting the moment you start feeling queasy. Only do that once. Drink lots of water in small sips slowly throughout the day. Maybe add some Pedialyte or a small Gatorade into the mix. Take probiotics before you travel somewhere you are more likely to get food poisoning. There may be preventative medicines you can take to help avoid certain bacteria, parasites, or viruses in other parts of the world. You can also take OTC medicines to help calm your stomach and relieve the diarrhea. Diarrhea is the most dangerous part of food poisoning. You have to stay hydrated and semi-fed. Bulky foods like bread are good for loose poos
The doc had closed his clinic yet he received u. The guy u met first went all the way to other clinic & then to the chemist w/ u, to help u. Is this ur worst nightmare ?
Hello drew lots of love from India. As a local Indian I feel that what you have experienced is a bit too much and of course it is a small city but trust me the medical facilities in other places are damn great and to be honest what you have spent is also alot more expensive we have more cheap medical assistance here 😇☺️
Look boy, he got injury not by his choice. Now ur saying you should go to usa London or other places for better treatment is not the point. Where he got injury there will only he will get treated.
Very nice one love ❤️ guys
Thank you!
Small cities in india have shitty healthcare bro as someone who is Indian and lives there half the year I would know
I've never been to doctor for this type of small scratches
I want the book. where's the link?

Hey DREW.....
Whats the need for a misleading title?
In India getting the solution for a situation like your in such a short span is wonderful.
Sorry to see you get wounded and glad that you've recovered.
India is crowded but when you need something for sure its available even in the remotest of regions in most parts of India.

I have been to India many times, being a very white Norwegian married to an Indian woman that I have the honor to call my wife and all, and it's always so easy there. Whatever you need, they will fix it. Indian people are generally so helpful and kind, so the fact you had a positive experience do not shock me the slightest..
God bless you and your wife Drew and lots of love from Norway.
ps. I will keep you in my prayers for a safe journey in India. It really is a place that gets under your skin in a way I can only compare it with how the Holy Land of Israel does. I love India and really want people to understand how special it's people are so they can get a true impression of this wonderful country. You are greatly appreciated for the way you paint these wonderful pictures of remote tribes and their culture, good or bad, you always do a stellar job of telling stories in video, free of charge no less. I have really enjoyed these windows into cultures I never knew existed. Yoy are the right man for the job Drew, storytelling at it's best has the power to engage and captivate, that can't be easy, so thank you again....
I wouldn't be surprised that the injection is done with a public syringe or something similar
5:08 😂 painkiller for a cut? Here in the west you won’t get that unless it’s severe
how is this your worst nightmare
U can't find a better hospital in small town and village
I went to the ER for a strep throat and took the antibiotics shot. I was there for less than an hour, it was $15k. lol
Of course
I need to go to India for doctors appointment
I wouldn’t call that a worst nightmare experience. It’s unfortunate you got the infection and had to see a dr but even travelling around looking for the doctor’s house it took less time to see the dr then we have to wait in emergency in NS.A wait can be anywhere from 8 - 24 hours unless it’s an absolutely urgent situation. For an infected cut you’d wait hours to see a dr.You’d be the very last person they’d take.We don’t pay for our healthcare…well we do with our taxes but less than $5 to see the dr was incredibly cheap and he seemed very kind and attentive to give you not only 1 but three prescriptions to help it. All in all I’d say your dr visit went pretty well. Though it would have been much harder if you would have been on your own and didn’t have someone navigating & translating for you. Then it would have been stressful trying to find the dr.It’s unfortunate that you got food poisoning & an infection back to back.Hope you’re all healed and feeling much better by now. That’s one of my biggest fears when it comes to travelling…getting sick in another country. Not so much minor things like this but like a heart attack or stroke or getting hurt badly in an accident. My aunt had a major heart attack, etc and part of the surgery she needed cost them over $100000 and then another $100000 or $150000 to have her flown back to Canada to a hospital here on a medical plane. They had travellers insurance but it didn’t cover the flight at all and only part of her hospital stay & surgery there.Thankfully they could afford the massive bills but I sure couldn’t. I hope we’ll get to see whatever that crazy event was that you went too in a more in depth vlog. It looked intense and a little bit chaotic. I just love your travel vlogs. You have the best content and I’ve learned so much and have gotten to see places and people that I’ll never be able to travel to see myself. Seeing the world through your eyes is so enjoyable and such a gift….especially for someone who has been really sick so watching your vlogs…some more than once has been a wonderful distraction and a bit of an escape from…everything. Do you happen to know ow how people who are on oxygen travel by plane? You can’t take or use oxygen canisters and you can’t use the planes oxygen….and I can’t get a straight answer from any airline on what you have to do to be able to use oxygen on a plane. I want so badly to visit DisneyWorld (yes even though I’m an adult) and I’d love to go to the UK while I’m able but can’t figure out how to fly with oxygen….i can’t even figure out how to do it within my own country.I would love a straight answer for it if anyone can tell me.Will be back for your next vlog.Travel safe😊
Damn very early
This is better than all the american health care.
The dirtiest place in America is cleaner than the cleanest place in scamndia🇮🇳🐄
I would rather wear long pants travelling abroad- because of protection and because men in most countries wear long pants.
For scratches like this take propolis tincture with you in your travel package.
I think most of indians will ignore that cut.
And only apply some antiseptic tube
Don't worry, drew, we would have all been sick if we were in your shoes
We don't have to wait here for 15 days to see a doctor
That was a Worst Nightmare? Seriously.. This little boy just got some very little injury, got medicine and he made a whole video about that.. Drew.. you not a man you such a delicate child 😅🤣
Yikes
What’s crazy to me is paying less than $5 for an in-home dr visit and then less than $10 for 3 scripts!!! Mind blown!
A tetanus dose 0.5, and amoxclav 625 is sufficient .....
The price comparison with the US for the medication lol. Pathetic
How are you
In a country full of natural medicines why even go to a doctor over a minor infection 😂
