The gun part was quite jarring, but I don't mind it. I remember a few versions of batman that have utilized firearms of some kind (mostly attached to the batmobile) but use rubber bullets or have some modifications to keep them from lethal, as far as fiction goes. Also, this is more of an origin/beginning Batman that hasn't quite nailed down how far he "can go" w/his mission. Perhaps, this can lead to an arc of Batmans "No Kill" rule being examined.
