1965 Diver's Reissue Design Beams Edition "it’s Tough Being A Man"(プロスペックス 1965 ダイバーズ 復刻デザイン 男はつらいよ ビームス篇) JDM only SBDX041
Launched in 2020 right after the SLA017 this piece boasts some specialities only available in this limited edition of 300 units.
This is a reissue of the first Japanese diver's watch, launched by Seiko in 1965, as a 55th anniversary commemorative mechanical diver's watch. This model is a collaboration with BEAMS, and was inspired by the fact that Tora-san, the main character of "Otoko wa Tsuraiyo" wore the "1965 Mechanical Divers" in his early works in the movie. The dolphin symbol on the case back is playfully designed to resemble Tora-san's trademark hat and trunk.
Torajirō Kuruma (Tora-san) is a traveling salesman whose sole possessions are the contents of a small suitcase, the clothes on his back and some pocket money. He wanders from town to town peddling his wares. He yearns to return to his home in Shibamata, Katsushika, Tokyo.
Also the dial is matte black instead of the grey in SLA017 / SBDX019 and the blue in SLA043 / SBDX039 and SLA037 / SBEX009.
The straps that come with the watch are these two “tropical” straps in black and tan but outside that the watch is the same as 017 and 043 namely
Movement 8L35 based on 9S55 with 26 jewels, 50hour power reserve, 28800vph
Case is everbrilliant steel in size 39.9 / 14.1mm thick, 19mm lugs, 47.9mm lug to lug and 200m water resistance
Watch shown in 17.7cm wrist
Top tier SLA 62 mas , it doesn’t get any better than the SBDX041!The colour matched date wheel is just beautiful. It is one of my grail Seiko divers, i will definitely be buying one in a few years time , no matter the price.

You have managed to one up the 017! Now you must acquire an 025 or 039.
Both great watches. I’ve had the 025 and it didn’t wear well on my bony wrist. I’ll pull a Spork if I can find a mint one but other than that I’m propably retired… meanwhile my other side of brain says … mmmm Omiwatari… 😅
