I know its a bit late from when you posted that video, but it says that the power button keeps it awake...
Whoever design this to wake up the PC randomly should be fired. It drives me insane.
Jeffrey Cao, I can agree 👍
And I have several PCs waking. Been getting worse each gd update.
this comment was accurate.
Fired? Fired upon you mean!
My gaming rig full of LED's and fans that generate supersonic noises on startup, coupled with multiple screens all mf'ing turning on all at once in the middle of the night.

I feel you bro, is so annoying, and Techademics thank you for this video!

Same thing happened to me and it got annoying over the “years” seriously 😒
Had this problem for a really long time but kept deciding to ignore it. It just happened again and im done with it. Thank you so much
Thanks a lot man. Would wake up in the morning sweating like crazy because my hot PC ran all night. You're awesome. Stay safe out there.
No problem, glad I could help!
Me: puts pc to sleep

Welp, guess I gotta turn my fucking computer off instead...
epic help now i can sleep normally without my pc starting up and lighting up the whole room and the fans in the pc box are horrible omg
No problem, I'm glad I could help! 🙂
thank you
this fixed my problem with having my laptop wake up in the middle of the night & then never go back to sleep unless if i got up, opened & closed it.
also kinda rare to find this type of tech support from someone who doesnt have an indian accent
It’s good to hear this worked out for you! Thank you for the comment.
Not an Indian accent but me thinks that this is a strong non-standard English accent that you would not have at oxford or cambridge. It is thick!
@@oakland10e3 It's not that thick dude. And the vast majority of people in England don't have a posh accent. That's just a stereotype. There's a plethora of different English accents. Scouse, Yorkshire, Cornish, Cockney and tons more. Pretty much every part of england has it's own accent. Sometimes you'll only have to go a few miles down the road and the accent will be unrecognizably different.
Thank you! I didn't know what caused this problem until I found your video! :D
ProgLab, No problem, I'm happy this worked out for you! 🙂
Cheers mate. Brill. My CMD said "wake timer" so I just disabled it. Good one.
No problem 🙂
Same it just said wake timer
God damn! Finally dude! Thank you! I hate hearing my pc’s fans at 2:00 in the morning 😂

Techademics after 5 months, it has not turned on ONCE overnight, thanks a lot man
Thank you! Hopefully this helps my problem.
Jonas Polsky, No problem, I'm happy this worked out for you! 🙂
Thanks! I just went with the (user-friendly) 😉 - way and changed sleep/wakeup in the settings menu... But I think iTunes was the culprit. I had recently installed it on this PC and until then 'waking up from hibernate' at night wasn't a problem.
But, thanks again - I wasn't aware of the advanced - advance setting in Power Settings.
AbelieverofourLord, No problem, I'm happy this worked out for you! 🙂
Very Helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
This helped fix my problem! Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Thanks a lot the command helped me a lot for a shitty backup software ... You were very helpful mate
No problem. Glad to hear this worked for you!
It worked, Thank you very much!
Yay now I won't crap myself in the middle of the night. My laptop gives me nightmares when I look at it at night....
BenniePlayz, No problem, I'm happy this worked out for you! 🙂
Thank you so much man, it's hard enough sleeping with little light sources in my room but when I see the RGB lights randomly come on at night, that just pisses me off because I have to get out of bed and shut it off. I have an SSD so that it boots up fast but that doesn't make the situation any less annoying.
No problem, I'm glad I could help! 🙂
Thanks, worked~
Vashiro, You Are Welcome 🙂
thanks that helped. it never happened to me until about 2 nights ago when i woke up with the pc running for no reason. i had the same hardware for over a year and never changed energy setting so i guess it had to be some windows update that made the pc do it
phunkym8, You Are Welcome, glad this helped 🙂
Thank you so much i had so many problems with it

seaco2000, No problem, I'm happy this worked out for you! 🙂
Thank you, been having this problem for years. Will it wake itself up to do window updates?
Mark Tredway, This depends on your "Advanced Battery Settings" Windows will wake up to do updates unless you have the wake up timers turned off.
It waits until you intend to use it to screw you over.
really good advice sir

How do i fix this and what does this mean?
Thanks 👍
No problem 👍
At first I almost gave a dislike bc if the first option was the reason it would’ve been because of Norton Internet Security which I cant disable. So that would’ve been useless, but I decided I’ll continue to see what this dude has to say. I followed through the wake timer and it was enabled, so I disabled it and it works perfectly fine now, thank you.

This was always very scary for me at night and this really helped me somehow it used to turn on loudly at 10 pm and i was scared and it woke me up but this helped
It says “pci - to - pci bridge” in the description in the command prompt and I can’t find it in task manager
my command prompt says the last wake was from an HID compliant mouse. How do I fix this from waking my computer
If you are having problems with Realtek something something you need to go to device menager, internet cards (idk something like that), double click Realtek something something, find a page with three boxes to check and uncheck the second one. Btw thanks for helping me fix this
wow this worked 4 me

Thank's! Now i can stop thinking that my pc is gonna break for being on all the time
After following this to the T, my Command Prompt is saying "Wake Source [0] Type: Fixed Feature POWER BUTTON
Uh, whaa?
My computer keeps doing it regardless and won't even tell me anymore why. I do have WOL enabled so I can access it remotely with the wake on magic packet enabled. Which means it shouldn't wake by itself, but maybe something else is sending magic packets? Removed viruses and no difference, does anyone have any ideas?
Literally I walked 1 step away from the pc and it woked up randomly, I tried again and oh wtf, thought Microsoft was messing with me and was driving me insane.
I'm sorry, but I had to comment... I starting laughing when I read your post - because I was thinking the same thing! I too thought Microsoft was messing with me during the night.
Thanks Bud

is it possible that there is a application running, and i set my laptop to sleep in a certain time, and when my laptop is on sleep, the application that is open make a SOUND on SLEEP MODE?

also, make sure to check device manager to see if your mouse or keyboard can wake the pc from sleep
great video
jamal frequency, Thank You 🙂
bruh the program making mine turn on is SystemEventsBroker. not sure if i want to disable that
I did all of the steps in this video and my PC still wakes up. There are no updates available.
I did run the "powercfg -lastwake" command and it told me:
Type: Device
Instance Path: PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_43D5&SUBSYS_11421B21&REV_01\4&2c18e2e3&0&000B
Friendly Name: AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft)
Description: USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller
Manufacturer: Generic USB xHCI Host Controller
I searched for the Friendly Name in the Device Manager. The option to "Allow this device to wake the computer" was unchecked and grayed out. I have no idea what else it can be and it's annoying me a lot.
I hate placebo fixes but this video is actual useful since powercfg -lastwake shows what woke up the PC giving you a chance to go into device manager to turn of this device can wake up PC, often you see videos promising some kind of fix then going into very basic stuff like clearing cache and what not which obviously is just placebo.
I want to know who's brilliant idea it was to make my PC start up randomly at 3:00 am
My pc is being woke up by event broker. But I've looked around and it says if I disable it it will fuck up a bunch of stuff on my pc... :(
Ik this video was made a year ago but my Ethernet cable wakes mine up so I’ve been unplugging it every time I put it to sleep and it’s so annoying please help
Saucy Spncr, You may need to stop the Ethernet cable from waking up your computer by removing this permission.
1. Click on the Windows icon and search "Device Manager"
2. Now click on the "Network Adapters" drop-down menu.
3. Right-click on the Ethernet network adapter and select "properties".
4. Select the "Power Management" tab and un-check "Allow this device to wake the computer".
5. Now select OK and you are all done!

I don’t think I’m try this yet because it hasn’t gotten so bad to the point where I woke up in the middle of the night but I might just because I have a laptop and when it wakes up it’s sound like a waffle maker when it’s closed

If you tried everything out there and your mouse or keyboard is still waking up your PC, then check if some of them (mouse/keyboard) is connected to a 3.0 USB port. If so, try to connect to a regular USB port, instead.

Thanks but why does it turn on tho?
Me literally about to fall asleep:
My PC: turns on with bright blue LEDs and a loud ass fan.

Easier method:
Go to Device Manager. Find Network Adapters. Click power management. Then uncheck "Allow to wake Windows from Sleep mode"
Mine was named Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller. Thanks!
dude this just scared the shit out of me i was like excuse mewtf
this is my issuse - Realtek Gaming 2.5GbE Family Controller, its a pc part... what can i do with that?
It looks like your networking adapter is causing the wakeup. A common fix for this is to disable wake on LAN.
1. Open the Device Manager by typing "Device Manager" in the search box on the taskbar and clicking on the result.
------
2. In the Device Manager window, locate and expand the "Network adapters" category.
------
3. Right-click on the network adapter you want to configure, and select "Properties" from the context menu.
------
4. In the Properties window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
------
5. Scroll down the list of properties and locate "Wake on Magic Packet" or "Wake on pattern match" or a similar option.
------
6. Set the value of this property to "Disabled" or "Off".
------
Click "OK" to save the changes.

@@VirtualTech Just type in command prompt, "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" it will show you whats causing your system to awake, most probably it will be your network adapter, if yes then go to device manager, its properties , powermangement, and uncheck powersaving / allow to awake your pc.

I don't see anything in the task manager that looks like this so I have no idea what it causing it to wake up.
This seems to be a driver issue with your USB port. The USB keep activating when sleeping which turns on the computer/laptop. Follow this guide and it may help you fix the issue: superuser.com/questions/1355346/unwanted-wake-from-sleep-by-intelr-usb-3-0-extensible-host-controller-1-0-m

how did you fix it bro i got the same thing rn ?
Says system events broker is the cause of the waking at night. In task manager I can’t seem to find system events broker. I’ve just decided to shut down the pc until I can stop it from waking. Pls help
The funny thing is that it has a wake up schedule. twice per night. One around 10:40 and again somewhere around 11:30
Try to look around in Task Scheduler? If your computer wakes up at those two times in the night specifically, it might be some updates scheduled at that time or whatever.

how can i fix this please ?
I've had a look around and it seems the "power button" is being misdiagnosed with a network issue.
Try disabling the "Wake on LAN" feature:
1. Open the Device Manager by typing "Device Manager" in the search box on the taskbar and clicking on the result.
2. In the Device Manager window, locate and expand the "Network adapters" category.
3. Right-click on the network adapter you want to configure, and select "Properties" from the context menu.
4. In the Properties window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
5. Scroll down the list of properties and locate "Wake on Magic Packet" or "Wake on pattern match" or a similar option.
6. Set the value of this property to "Disabled" or "Off".
Click "OK" to save the changes.
