When i was a kid and I played SMB3 on All Stars for the SNES, it took me weeks until it dawned on me that Bowser has an Armored Division of tanks, a sea going Navy, and an Air Force of jet fighters. I just didn't grasp what all the cannons and platforms were until it dawned on me.
This ain't no remake, it's the GBA port running through the emulator's own built-in filter. I grew up with SMA series so I recognized the use of voice clips and arrangement of the music right away.

There are also super tanks which doesn't explain why there are ones flying. Possibly smaller airships I don't know.
