Always a pleasure see youve posted. Really like that first one. A lot of guys who Use spinning and centerpins for steelhead use crappie tubes, especially in clear, tough conditions. And that tungsten nuke is harder than it seems, hard to get it to like right without having parts being too thin and others too thick. And idk how he gets beads on those hooks. Is it all due to the hook being hot and melting it? Im afraid itd make the hook weak, especially when trying to slide the bead on
So the beads actually slide right onto the shank through the hook point and they're size-graded so they can fit different hook sizes! It makes part of that process more streamlined so you don't have to get stressed trying to find the right bead size for the hook
Can I ask how you set up your phone or camera to film you tying? I’m trying to start a fly tying page but I’m not sure how to set up filming? Any tips would help a lot. Thank you
There’s a lot that would go into getting to this question without it feeling like a brush off. I may make a video about it one day. But you need to think about the lighting, framing, audio, proper camera settings, stable mounts for vice and camera, and lenses for the major ones. I watched macro videographers when I got started on RUclips for a intro. However if you just start with your phone it’s much easier to
No it’s more because of the definition of a fly needing to have natural materials for competitions, or in the case of a ban on a river policy makers expect fly fishing to have a lower impact on the fish and get rid of highly productive patterns in rare cases to achieve that.
Purists be damned. I like the catskill dry flies and mayfly nymphs as much as anyone, but if they are hitting squirmys or eggs, then I'm throwing a squirmy or egg
“Always a replacement material”ain’t that the truth. I’ve just started and I’ve been collecting all my stuff out in nature and my mum just gave me a box full of different coloured turkey feathers thooousands of them, red black white, you name it. I bent out my own whip finishing tool , soon to make the spool holder/wrapper thing lol For anyone wanting to do it, stop watching nd just do it, you don’t even need half the stuff this dude has.
@@MainelyFlies afterthought, i gotta tell you that out of all the fly tubers I’ve seen , I always come back to your channel. I think you might just do it the best and I’m no expert but it seems you have good vibration about you and the content is clear as day. Good on you , happy to see this for you even tho I don’t know you.
Thanks!

if egg patterns give an unfair advantage, do they ban waders and forward weight lines too?

Very true never has to be the exact same, I swap things out constantly even though I have a huge collection.
@ you might come up with something new that way, something unique you could maybe call your own.
