Thorough analysis as usual. I’m amazed that offering an electric pw without a gfci plug is even allowed, especially given how many times the one on the Portland I had was tripped while using.
Thanks, yeah it crazy they can even be sold.
Personally, I'd rather have one without the GFCI. All my outdoor outlets are already on a GFCI breaker, as should everyone's in the US. Plus the GFCI plug doesn't even fit inside the outdoor outlet housings most every home has, that's been built in the last 25 years. I have to use an extension cord just to plug it in.
I think the next 2 Ryobi's would have been better, I have both along w the AstroAI foam cannon(with your help!) I couldn't be happier. Both where under 200. On a side note, that foam cannon is great, thanks
Hopefully I can test them in a part 2, I already spent to much on this one lol.
Glad to hear the foam cannon video helped, I was shocked by the AstroAI.
Good video BTW. Hope it makes the Tool Show again, because this video has a broader potential audience than some of your others that have been referenced. To boost up Subscribers
Thanks! Yeah hopefully, I seen the torque screwdriver one did. Looks like they skipped both of the drill testing ones lol, which is understandable seeing they are doing testing now.
I would like to produce more content, I believe that would really help views and subs, but kinda at the max of one week bc of my full time job.
Definitely would be interested in seeing some midrange priced electric pressure washers to see if there's any actual performance difference or are all 115v pressure washer roughly same due to amperage limitations. Maybe the more expensive just have better quality components and longevity?
Yeah hopefully at some point, we will see how this video performs. These are to resell on eBay bc of the shipping so it’s a huge loss. I’m guessing we would see a little better performance, with electronics allowing for a smooth ramp up.
I bought the Westinghouse to replace a Greenworks electric power washer. So far it's been great and I love the form factor.
Power washer attachment in the front and hose attachment in the back with wheels so you can drag it around.
Pretty happy with the wand but I'll likely upgrade the hose to a flexzilla at some point.
Put a quick connects on every point.
Works well with my chemical guys foam cannon.
Nothing wrong with the Green Works. Just like the form factor on this a little better.
Yeah the WH seems like it was well thought out, looks like the brand is trying a comeback.
Top content! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Have the Ryobi (caught it on sale at the local home cheapo with a 10% off coupon for $90) coupled with an Essential Washer gun ($40) & Uberflex (blue) hose ($50) and the MJJC Pro 2 foam cannon ($80). The combo lays Adam's Mega Foam ($50/gal) like a champ--super thick.
Yep you can build a nice car cleaning setup with a cheap pressure washer.
I like the audio test portion... not all decibels are created equal. The higher pitch ones are very annoying. Additional tests could be items from Home Depot and Lowe's... which are the most common DIY store. Sun Joe comes to mind for budget home lawn and pressure washer equipment.
Yep exactly it can be quiet but have a horribly annoying tone. I was hoping to try Sun Joe but all the common models seemed to be sold out. Hopefully I can test them on the next go around.
Interesting. Most other reviews of the Ryobi 1800 rate it 1050 PSI and 1.4 GPM using a 2.5 orifice.
I cant speak for others but 1050 should be around 1.25 ish GPM with a 2.5. If you have the orifice size and the pressure you can back calculate the GPM. 1.4 GPM with at 2.5 would require a pressure around 1200.
This is really interesting. I say this because of the way you tested and what I had assumed. I had assumed that all these pressure washers that worked on a 15amp circuit would have similar performance, but watching testing done by Auto detailers of many of these pressure washers showed I was wrong. For example, I've seen the Active produce 2 GPM with a 4 orifice tip and produce 1100 psi, where the vast majority of others couldn't get close to that psi with the same tip. But your testing is different. It actually confirms my assumptions. Oh well.. I had to purchase the CAT 1800 because when I went to buy the Active VE52 on Amazon, they were sold out a week ago. I guess you got the one I was looking to buy.
Yeah I agree you are limited by the amps, they can improve some with better electronics allowing for a soft start or more pump pistons/higher efficacy pump.
Lol yeah it looks like I bought the last Active lol, I hope to test the Cat at some point but looks like a quality unit.
@@Tools-Tested Checkout the Greenworks 2300 psi/2.3gpm unit. Its setup where it whines up like a jet engine to get to full pressure. I'd call it a soft start of some type.
The ryobis, there were 3 at the store I went to. 1800 1900 and 2000 with same flow 1.2
But they are all rated for the same current draw. Something not right there. I bought the 2000 and now I think maybe should have got the 1800. I suspect they all have the same pump and motor.
Yeah I would guess they are all running the same pump setup internally and should be rated the same.
I'm curious about the higher end models that claim PSIs that seem impossible from 120V (e.g. 3000 PSI) -from otherwise reputable brands (Greenworks, Dewalt, to a lesser extent Westinghouse), not just no-name stuff online who routinely lie. I am curious about that theoretical ceiling of pressure/flow from a 120V 15A source.
Hopefully at some point I can, tricky with these bc of the weight and size. They are going to be hard to sell on eBay and get really anything back, unlike drills and torque wrenches.
@@Tools-Tested Yeah, they are pricey too, which doesn't help those reselling equations
Is the side of the garage you did this test on the same side you had to dig out and fix a couple years back?
No thats the latest barn is in the video, I'm still making progress on the old one.
Hey could you do an updated torque wrench test as. New torque wrenches have been released from gear wrench on their 120xp line. I want to know their accuracy after 1000 cycles
I tested the digital in ruclips.net/video/ZCgcW7g0Je0/видео.html
Mechanical version in ruclips.net/video/tTTsNh_D7yQ/видео.html
Are you testing on 120 or 230v? It tends to make a huge difference on pressure washers. On 230v you can get over 3kw units while 120v tends to be limited to 1.8kw.
These are all meant to work on a 120v 15amp circuit. There's no way he's using a 230/240V circuit. We just don't use that in the US except in a few limited applications, such as a clothe dryer, water heater or well pump. There's a few others, like a electric stove, but that's on a 50amp 240v circuit.
There seems to be very few differences between the brands, so it looks like selecting one based on cost isn't a bad way to pick one.
I think I paid about $90 for my Greenworks unit when I got it about 3 years ago.
Yeah, I got a Typhoon brand about 5 years ago, I think I paid $60-80 Australian and its as good as any of these (In other words, it sucks just like all of these).
It does a fairly poor job of rinsing and washing a car/truck and it doesn't have a proper foam cannon either, the hose is maybe 4m and it is a chore to pack it up.
The price has really exploded for these things.
Looks like you really have to go up a couple models to get anything decent.
@@elliotkane4443 I just picked up a rebranded Active unit, the Cat 1800. For washing my car, it does just as well as my gas pressure washer with a foam cannon with a 1.25 orifice. Where it doesn't do as well is in the rinse, when it comes to a soft top convertible. On the hard surfaces, the amount of water output is so close, I really can't tell. But on that soft top, which seems to trap a lot of soap, it takes almost twice as long to rinse out.
Please put about 10 hrs on each one and run the psi and gpm test again . That will give you a better result on which one is better quality.
All but the Ryobi, since he's been using that one, should improve slightly, but it's not like there's going to be a major change. They might improve 100 psi or almost in immeasurable amount of flow.
@@crabjoe I'm looking at the longevity most folks on RUclips want to give a review of out of the box instead of how they perform after they are well used, by well used I mean between 20 and 50 hours . I think a lot of these units are rated at around 100 hour life
Would love to but sadly I don’t have the time.
@ssclassof2000 for a longevity test, you'd need to buy 3-5 of each, and that's just not affordable for anyone but PF.
What adapter do I need to connect a uberflex hose to the powryte?
That's a tricky one because of the uncommon connection type, the closest adapter I could find was amzn.to/4cwTqtK. Hard to say if it would work, but probably worth a shot.
@@Tools-Tested Thank you
Nice! Could you do one for battery operated pressure washers?
Thanks! It’s on the list, but it will probably be a while.
Why? Cordless uses energy to charge, which loses value in the charge, then can never last as long as direct hookup to house power.
