    The words are so beautiful. Why can't songs with meaningful words be popular anymore?! I mean he is popular enough but when people sing with their hearts they deserve more

      +Kallihan Kokernot Cockburn really does have a way with words and they come straight from the heart.. so rare and refreshing. Thanks for commenting!

      I think he is certainly one of the best Songwriters. My favorite for sure. All through the years.

    Best line in a song ever;
    Little round planet in a big universe sometimes it looks blessed,
    Sometimes it looks cursed.
    Depends on what you look at obviously
    But even more it depends on the ways that you see.
    Cockburn, a Wordsmith extraordinaire.

    Bruce is simply the greatest songwriter. NOBODY holds a candle to him. Sorry, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, etc, etc...ya'll are great...but Bruce is on a plane so far above it may as well be called Olympus. I have never heard more amazing, profound, eerily specific but wildly universal thoughts ever put to song by one treasure of a human being.

    I love this version, his voice sounds a little ragged and worn, making the tune even more meaningful.

      Springsteen can't even come close to this...

    • @fenwayify
      @fenwayify 4 года назад

      @@jroberthadden I've seen your comment comparing the two Bruces before and it really isn't necessary. They're both tremendous and sing from the heart. The fact that Cockburn doesn't have the same popular acclaim as Springsteen is no mark against either, just the taste of the masses. We might as well enjoy and celebrate both for the beauty of their artistry...

      I don't live on the prairie anymore but all the hoodoos, badlands, long sweeping hills and the
      low foothills took me back to growing up in Saskatchewan. All so beautiful.

      Just looked it up. Violinist is award winning American musician Mark O'Connor who performed at the 2017 Grammy Awards. This is a whistle aling favorite for me.
