  • Hey Good People,
    In this video I show you my process of diagnosing worn / defective lifters. The customer brought the truck in for a ticking sound, which you will hear in the video. The truck had no check engine light codes, but I was able to identify the problematic lifter.
    I hope you enjoy the video, and I hope it helps you out. Hit up that comment section if you have any questions or feedback.

      @@UlfricStormcloak69 DOD are not ticking time bombs and this is not a DOD issue.
      Almost all newer vehicles have DOD or complete engine shut off when stopped , as fuel saving software/electronic features.

    • @MrGreenelight
      @MrGreenelight 2 месяца назад

      @@UlfricStormcloak69 DOD is a software/ CPU function not a mechanical, it just cuts off fuel to certain cylinders when not needed to save fuel. The ticking sound is mechanical and is Not related to the Cylinder Deactivation s. The sticking lifter is a fairly common problem with that style of engine that uses rocker arms and lifters rather than overhead cams.
      It is almost always due to trash / debris resisting movement of lifter. An oil change and /or engine flush usually takes care of it. This problem appears to just be a valve spring adjustment needed, from the wiggling and loose rocker shown at the end of video

    Stuck lifter...it can be due to low oil psi..the o ring at the oil pump shrunk and now sucks in air causing low oil psi Wich cause that lifter to get stuck cus that's how these AFM crap activate and deactivate. The o ring is like $2 but the job is allot bcus you need to take the oil pan of and you need new oil pan gasket..

    good video man. thanks. yah i'v seen some videos where guys run engine with valve covers off to see if they can find offending cylinder. or do the spin over like you did before pulling rockers but like you said we all have our way of doings things. i enjoyed your good attitude doing the job. i saw some lawsuit videos on it. do you know if the lifters going in are a different part #? which shows they may have fixed the issue but then again why are new engines still failing with lifters. i think they need to get rid of this system all together. maybe the govt mandates fuel savings and this system does that

The truck had 250,000 miles at the time. After replacing the oil filter and oil on the side of the road with the help of Walmarts management of course. I started the truck and after some banging and rocking it smoothed out and I drove it home. and after another 250,000 later With a total of 500,000 miles I pulled the engine still running to put a 350v8 engine in its place...I could only figure that with regular oil changes along with the engine restorer lube is what saved the engine when the oil filter came off...

      It depends on if the Camshaft got damaged. If not, you just replace the lifters. But if the CAM did get damaged, then you’d need to replace CAM and lifters. See video here : ruclips.net/video/k8qYZMQrA98/видео.html
