I think the reason that part hits me every time is because it reminds me of 14 year old me sitting next to my dads bed (before he died of cancer) telling him I understood what was happening and that it was ok for him to go
Zola should be grown up and a good surgeon and Mer should be a really old women. My favorite imagination ist that Mer dies, happy with her life and goes to heaven where she'll meet everyone that died again. Maybe we could say that Christina died a few months before and in heaven MAGIC will be reunited, and Mer will be together with Derek while they're looking down to their daughter. And Zola stays in the OR saying: "It's a beautiful day to save lifes".
This broke Mer in a way she will never come back from. No matter who she's with now. Derek will ALWAYS be her soulmate. RIP Derek. We'll never forget you.
I had to stop watching it after the first few years. I had enough drama and pain in my own life, I didn't need to see more fabricated drama, no matter how "good" it was acted. I used to LOVE this show back when it started though, before real life came knocking at my door.

As someone who grew up around drug addiction, Amelia is such a strong character. On private practice she had so many brilliant scenes. If Charlotte wasn't on there, I'd say she was the best.

However, it's true , Amelia always acts like she's the only one to suffer... like when she basically said to Meredith that she didn't suffer enough, when she was blaming Meredith for Penny or when she came to see Meredith after her assault and started to talk about herself without even asking if she was ok...it's always about herself.

Derek said he doesn't want to live in a world without Meredith, and that made her choice very clear, people need to stop blaming her because she lost him too. Meredith was pregnant with Derek's baby when he died.
The reason I love greys is because you can really feel the emotions of the character, even if it is just acting. They perform with such passion and it gives me chills each time
I think that they tried to replace Derek with a new “MacDreamy”. When Lexie died, they replaced her with a new sister: Maggie. Now when the best couple Arizona and Callie are gone they needed a new gay couple. Because they want to show that they support the LGBTQ community. So they took in a new hot gay guy to get together with the guy with the glasses. What I’m trying to say is that you can’t just replace people. We will never love Maggie as much as we loved Lexie, and we will never love some of Meredith’s love interests as much as we loved Derek. And don’t even get me started on Calzona. I stopped watching a few episodes after they killed Mark.. That was already too much, I couldn't take any more deaths... I heard about Derek... And this was only today that I could watch his death for the first time. I won't re-watch the show though, it hurt me too much.

Catherine's acting was brilliant. I love that scene when she's about to fall into the hands of OXY again and instead breaks down and feels Derek's death for the first time.
I lost interest in the show when Derek died,,, I mean I still watch it sometimes,,, but I don't like it anymore,,, and I was a huge fan,,, since the very first episode....
It's struggled since then because so many pivotal characters to Meredith's story have died or gone away. I mean they're working with what they've got, but honestly, it's been struggling, the episodes are very lackluster except for the beginning of the seasons and the ends.

Though I'm as sad as you are when Derek died, keeping him "alive" would only prolong the pain. Putting an end to it would be mercy.

I cried a lot over the seasons from season 2 onwards. Derek’s death had be snot bubbling and everything, the saddest I’ve ever felt for a programme. Shonda does her job a little too well 😭
My best friend, a loving LOVING wife and mother to a one year old died a week ago today. Her husband told all of us of her sudden and unexpected death in an eerily similar way... We were greys watchers, my best friend and i.... to watch this scene, listening to Amelia talk about her grief... it's the type of pain I relate to... Most of all... In this very real life... my best friend and her husband were very much the Derek and Meredith love story... I used to cry over this fictional storyline... now to feel myself in it... to understand that grief... for the actors to have sold it so deep to portray this genuine and real pain.... It gives it, it's own new life and meaning.
Honestly I'm just so mad at how they handled Derek's death and Dempsey's exit in general. There's rumors about what happened backstage and all that and i don't know what's true and what isn't, but this was just sad. Extremely dumb and lazy written accident, then fast forwarding through the funeral and the whole year after his death I mean there were some patients' death that had more emotional impact and he was the second or third most important character in the show for 11 years and this how they end things?! I guess I'm just frustrated that his exit wasn't clean, he signed on for another season and they wanted to get rid of him asap after a very short 11th seaon...and now no one talks to Dempsey anymore..it's sad :(
I personally didn’t find Derek’s death sad, just the way mer dealt with it afterwards. How she was pregnant, how she took her kids and left just like her mother did with her. She gave birth all alone, and the parallels between her and her childhood was just:(

This show is just incredible. At school, kids call me "Grey's" because of my obsession (lol) but like this show is just filled with incredible actors and actresses and honestly, season 17 is our last and let me just say: this show will be remembered. Meredith, Alex, Goerge, Izzie, Christina, Derek, Amelia, Maggie, Arizona, Callie. All of them. Most have died or are finished in the show but we will remember the dedication put forward and I am not ready for it to end. This show is just magical 😊

I was okay with all the other deaths (George, Lexie, Mark, Danny) but Derek?! WHY SHONDA WHY? Merder was my otp and Derek was such a big part of the show since season 1.

+Rebbexa I read somewhere that when people are in this kind state (neither dead nor alive - the spirit has already left the body when the body remained alive), the spirit is torn between two worlds. Derek doesn't belong in the realm of the living anymore, but he can't cross over to the other side, so it's tormenting for the spirit.
Though I'm as sad as you are when Derek died, keeping him "alive" would only prolong the pain. Putting an end to it would be mercy.

My best friend, a loving LOVING wife and mother to a one year old died a week ago today. Her husband told all of us of her sudden and unexpected death in an eerily similar way... We were greys watchers, my best friend and i.... to watch this scene, listening to Amelia talk about her grief... it's the type of pain I relate to... Most of all... In this very real life... my best friend and her husband were very much the Derek and Meredith love story... I used to cry over this fictional storyline... now to feel myself in it... to understand that grief... for the actors to have sold it so deep to portray this genuine and real pain.... It gives it, it's own new life and meaning.
Honestly I'm just so mad at how they handled Derek's death and Dempsey's exit in general. There's rumors about what happened backstage and all that and i don't know what's true and what isn't, but this was just sad.
Extremely dumb and lazy written accident, then fast forwarding through the funeral and the whole year after his death
I mean there were some patients' death that had more emotional impact and he was the second or third most important character in the show for 11 years and this how they end things?!
I guess I'm just frustrated that his exit wasn't clean, he signed on for another season and they wanted to get rid of him asap after a very short 11th seaon...and now no one talks to Dempsey anymore..it's sad :(
I personally didn’t find Derek’s death sad, just the way mer dealt with it afterwards. How she was pregnant, how she took her kids and left just like her mother did with her. She gave birth all alone, and the parallels between her and her childhood was just:(

At school, kids call me "Grey's" because of my obsession (lol) but like this show is just filled with incredible actors and actresses and honestly, season 17 is our last and let me just say: this show will be remembered. Meredith, Alex, Goerge, Izzie, Christina, Derek, Amelia, Maggie, Arizona, Callie. All of them. Most have died or are finished in the show but we will remember the dedication put forward and I am not ready for it to end. This show is just magical 😊
