I don’t have a hoist and I didn’t want to spray undercoat in the Collision Shop because of contamination which plays hell with paint finish’s. So I took my new pick up to Crown, they sprayed the bottom only and did a good job. Then I bought a gallon of theirs for $60.00 Laying plastic down in the driveway I have a $60.00 Undercoat Gun I bought off Amazon. Needless to say I didn’t hold back. It was dripping out of every panel for a few hours. I had trouble using the hole gallon. No need to over do it like I did, it’s almost a waste considering how much leaks out. You should be able to save enough for another application one day!
Great tips, thank you for sharing! Yeah I've heard applying oil spray in a paint shop can be a huge nightmare, it floats in the air for quite a while. Once that coating dries and the dust sticks to it, you can apply another coat after.
Hopefully I'll be able to get to it this year. After soaking the doors in oil, it hasn't gotten worse thankfully. My plan is to sandblast them, treat it with a rust converter, epoxy prime, and paint. Maybe light filler if it's require but I doubt it's needed.
@@4DIYers Cheers for getting back to me! That's pretty much what I had planned. I fear my rust may be coming from inside the panel, so I may end up having to weld in some new material, but here's hoping...
Oil has detergents, if your not going to use proper Undercoat use Transmission Fluid. I worked in the Collision Industry for 44 years, you can trust me.
Are you referring to the Dodge Ram door? I never took them apart, didn't have the time. With the rust on that door, the outside has also been hit and has filler, I'm hoping to replace it with a new door eventually.
this happend on mostly all civics from around 1990-2005 , i have to change both doors on my Civic LX 2 doors 2000, and the worst thing is that its really hard to find , even if on didnt pay much for it, im starting to regret it ... i repainged the whole car, did some body work and noise canceling ... im allready tired of working on it ....
I'm not sure where you're located, but do you have the option of getting doors shipped up from southern US? Car-part.com is a good website for searching local wrecking yards, it works for all of North America.
does that really work well? cuz i see slowly rust comming from under front fender. i remove the mudcovers, and cleaned all the shit what collected in 20 years there. but is that also the issue why the door is rusting?
Is that fluid film? Have a 2012 dodge ram 1500 and was gonna put fluid film on that bottom door seam behind the rubber molding, but heard people mentioning fluid film will ruin the molding and warp it, know anything about that?

It'd be great to see a video of you removing/repairing that rust spot on the door edge. I have the exact same issue on my Jeep.

@@4DIYersdo you have a follow up video about reapairing that door rust?
Put heavy weight oil where the Windows goes up and down on a hill or down hill to coat the metal. Much faster and easy
Great tip! I've done that in another video, I prefer to use grease instead, it stays in place and it's safe for any nylon components.

@@mcmuskie2563 HI. Where do I put it..

You’re welcome!
GOOD VIDEO. TY
You're welcome!
well done video- I subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
If you had the door all apart why put it back together to spray the rust proofing via the holes and hope it goes everywhere?

Keep applying wd40 in the drain holes before every season & more frequently during rainy & winter season.

Nope. Most brand do caution about spraying around rubber components, I can't speak about fluid film specifically as I haven't used it.
I never heard that, Transmission fluid works well. Motor Oils should not be used because of the detergent levels.
