I love to see huge hits and tackles, but seeing a player getting injured or knocked unconscious is something you hate to see. Football fans and players love toughness, but a dirty hit or just an injury is unbearable to watch.
Most are not dirty. Half are just accidents. And keep in mind that the hitters are taking just as much damage as the person being hit (Newton’s Third Law). Except for the should hits on the head, the hitter is also hurt.
Poor Austin Collie. I watched both of those hits live, and remember thinking “I hope he retires” after the second one. Thankfully he did, I honestly think he might have gotten killed if he got hit too hard after those two hits. When you see someone’s arms stiffen up when the get knocked out, but they’re fingers are still making gang signs and shit you know it was bad.
He got KO’d three times. I saw the eagles one. He didn’t retire; the colts just didn’t resign him. The 49ers signed him, cut him like immediately, then the Patriots signed him. Then he even played in the CFL. The game and Joseph Smith were probably all he had. Chewed him up and spat him out.
As a lifelong Colts fan with nothing but respect for Manning, I can say that it almost seemed deliberate how many times he set Austin Collie up to get viciously smoked. These are just two of those many incidents and he had actually come under fire for it at one point.
I like at 8:26 how Mike Tolbert rolls right back up. The 49ers tackling him got the worst of that! Being a Panthers fan, I remember him as a powerful fullback. He has another highlight in this compilation, playing for a different team.
@@sexton__hardcastle slow your roll champ...Porter and Harrison (Foote & Farrior as well) played in the 2000s and rules were slightly different. Ray Lewis played during that time and he was equally feared as Harrison. They all play a little different in that division.
Fuck Peyton; to be one of the greatest QBs ever, to make those reads let alone throws, are beyond terrible decisions. I'm 55 and grew up watching players get buried, and I love it, as long as it isn't a cheap shot. Football is not a contact sport, it's a collision sport. I love peel back, blindside blocks, anything where a player goes flying
I’m 25 and I love the hard hitting too, I understand the helmet to helmet hits but bring back more of the toughness especially hits on the QB. Roughing the passer calls are bullshit
Yea, I’m 17 and something my dad always told me is the old school, 70s-90s, players knew what they were getting in to and that’s what made it more entertaining
00:50 the QB was tripped, causing him to fall into the helmet to helmet. There was nothing the tackler did wrong. He was lined up to hit low. Unfortunately, he still got called for a penalty.
I genuinely wonder how the hell that linebacker at 3:38 wasn’t suspended for that hit. Red Rifle was clearly sliding, and he clearly went for the head. It was a total thug move.

The NFC North would be long af too, albeit most of the modern ones would just be the rest of the division getting pissed at the Packers generally doing better than them. But the 80s Packers vs. Bears would have quite a bit of retaliation from the Packers. I think though that NFC North would be long in terms of number of years of intense rivalry, but AFC North would be long in terms of sheer furiousness of the rivalries in the modern era. Like, most of the fights that happen in the last few seasons are from that division alone.
Love this video. Reminds me of the old football I used to watch in the 80s. To me they look like mostly normal football hits. A few are kinda tough to watch but I mostly see normal hits I used to see.
see I understand intentional helmet to helmet contact, when I played we called that spearing (leading with the crown of your helmet). Saying that, some of these targeting calls now days aren't intention they're accidental due to the runners lowering their heads in that split second of ending a play. something has to be done about offensive issues because ya can't leave it all on the defensive players. also, incidental or unintential helmet to helmet contact has to be addressed as well. just my 2 cents worth.
100%. some of these are clean, shoulder tackles but the helmet makes contact. Spearing is one thing, but some of these seemed unavoidable. It is football after all.
Do we really need to watch the NFL regular season anymore? I mean this is really the number one reason people watch this sport anyway isn’t it? Thanks for freeing up 9 hours of my week!
It’s funny, I can watch hours of boxing and mma knockouts and not flinch or cringe but the moment I see football players go stiffed on the field my stomach goes into knots.
most of those KO are expected, even if you fall "inconsious" your body is prepared for it, in very rare ocasions the body falls flat, they usually pass out like if they go to sleep. Here is the complete opposite, specially with the recievers. Once they have the ball, all their focus is on running and dodging, not bracing for impact, so when they get hit, is with the full force of their sprint plus the impact from, usually, a blindspot. I bet MMA or box causes more injuries, but these feel probably way worse.
