  • Before you blab...speedometer is 10% slow and I know these arent "fast".... this is just to show its new acceleration under LIGHT throttle application with 35's. I'm reaching 50 mph that quick in a truck with 35's by giving it VERY little throttle...its impressive...versus it short shifting like crazy all the time and being a sluggish dog...definitely woke up the transsmission in this sleeping beast. I'd say it is a MUST with oversized tires.

    Yeah they normally just shift a little sluggish and late on the 1-2 shift when stock. this cleans it right up

    yep. its still running great. it accelerates fantastically for a lifted truck. it's down to almost a 7 second 0-60. not bad. let that l33 breath and it runs awesome. just have to make sure you install the servo properly. only $17. by far the best upgrade i did and it just so hapen to be the cheapeast and easieat of them all...a must have for a lifted gas chevy, especially if it isn't regeared.

      Yeah i fixed THAT ABS issue. I had a wheel bearing going out. I didn't know that would cause your ABS to act up but obviously it does. Recently switching to 37's my ABS light comes on momentarily everytime I romp on it. I've been told with these GM's once you go beyond 35's it plays with the ABS computer a little and there isn't really a fix. Oh well...I dont mind a little light flashing when I stomp on it 🤷‍♂️

    Oh and coach bob. I do not have a tune yet.....I'm gonna go with a custom black bear tune here soon. It sounds like they are the king with chevys. $300 for a custom tune and free to change anything later on...you just have to pay the deposit for the module every time you do but you get it all back.

I'm gonna be pulling the engine right away to have it rebuilt and do some work to so I am gonna hey a transmission built while the engines out. I'm shooting towards 425-450 hp, nothing crazy. It is a brand new part from Oregon Performance (you can find them online) It will fit into any 4L60E and it just makes the transmission run more aggressive. After the install my truck is night and day more lively and more responsive.

    What gears are in your truck? I have a 06 with 3.42s and I have 33s on it. Its a dog with the stock tires and really a dog with 33s. I am tuned with a airaid mit and exhaust. mine shifts into second way too fast and it lugs in 2nd and the 2nd to 3rd shift is really soft and sometimes too early. I am thinking about putting in this servo and then going to 4.56 gears. A friend of mine had a 05 with 4.10s from the factory and it was really impressive for a half ton truck with the stock 265 tires.

    • @cameronwelch78
      @cameronwelch78  7 лет назад +1

      T-Bub86 yeah 3.42s arent conducive to making power... these are 3.73 in mine....it is a dog right off the line with 35's but once it hits 15-20 mph it has plenty of power. and I would highly recommend this servo for you then....before I put this in, my transmission would shift way earlier than stock, and way earlier than you "want it to"....half throttle down and it doesn't even run through the gear at all before it shifts....the tires throw off the ratio s bad....the servo will clear almost all of that up for you....this $20 is without a doubt the best upgrade I did....it runs like a hotrod truck now if you want it to...light throttle it drives like a truck with stock tires....as soon as you start feeding it some gas, it gets up...just make sure you out the servo in correctly....look on RUclips for tutorials...

    • @j.cooper2246
      @j.cooper2246 5 лет назад +2

      A little, I've been told it could be a worn piston inside the accumulator body. Easily replaced when dropping the transmission Pan. 3 bolts, you can buy a complete assembly for about $40 or rebuild yours for about half. Factory has a plastic piston you can upgrade to an aluminum piston. Also I then told change 1-2 &3-4 shift solenoid. Also easily accessible when you drop the Pan So with these 2 upgrades and new shift solenoids. Are often done together to a dress these issues we seem to experience with that 1st to 2nd gear slam. Hope this helps as I am planning on doing mine as soon as the weather breaks 40゚.

      Yeah I don't have any recommendation on that. Mine behaves and drives almost like a totally stock truck under 50mph and light to medium throttle input. Of course the gears are taller because of the tire size so it takes longer to wind through the gears, but otherwise it feels stock. If I stomp it at 55. It will still drop in 1st HARD (and even spin them on a wet road at 55, especially if any corner is involved getting squirly and sideways in which I have video of such if you guys want to see that) Granted, its a wet road... But still pretty impressive to see a lifted 5.3 break 35"s loose at close to 60 mph.

    Yeah its really nice. short shifting is gone. with a 4l60e and stock tires, I don't have any complaints except the 1-2 shift being sloppy. but with bigger tires this is a MUST. makes the 4l60e just aggressive enough to compensate for the tires on shifting.
    And idk what's up with the ABS. The front driver tire wanted to actuate making my brake pedal fade coming up to a stop (and almost rear end people) I've been told replacing the wheel bearing can do the trick, or dirty ABS sensor. but I don't much care so I just pulled the ABS fuse LOL I don't need ABS but I'll fix it eventually. I can barely lock the tires up with 35's unless I'm in the rain. I don't drive like an asshole or tailgate so not having ABS doesn't really effect me much.

    I was going to have it installed but the mechanic said it would shift hard ???

    • @cameronwelch78
      @cameronwelch78  3 года назад

      Yes it shifts harder but in a good way...if you hot rod your truck at all, or tow heavy loads, it is the part for you....its basically like putting in a shift kit. It lengthens the shift and makes it more firm (and gets rid of the sloppy 1-2 shift the 4l60/65e is notorious for and is bad long term) the more firm shifting equals less slipping on your clutch plates when shifting. Granted, I have oversized tires which tames it down a little but it is not too firm by any means, it drives like stock when driving normal, but as soon as you start getting into it all at the shift firms up. Best $25 I have ever spent and the best upgrade that showed the most results versus thousands of dollars on other upgrades.

  • @cwirtz1854
    @cwirtz1854 4 года назад

    Did it take a little while for the shifting to settle in after it was installed?

    • @cameronwelch78
      @cameronwelch78  3 года назад

      No the firmness of the shift has stayed even today. It drives the same as it did. The larger tires tame down the firmness, and I would say it makes the truck accelerate, drive, and the shifts points feel exactly like "stock" even though you are running much larger tires. With stock sized tires at WOT people say with the corvette servo they chirp tires going into second, kinda like putting in a shift kit. Mine definitely isn't quite that fir. with big tires though. It just behaves and has as much throttle response as a stock truck under 50mph.

  • @ryanpaetz3643
    @ryanpaetz3643 4 года назад

    • @cameronwelch78
      @cameronwelch78  3 года назад

      Yes. Exactly....with less throttle input. With bigger tires I really had to give it half throttle or more to get it to use the gear properly before short shifting and get up to speed...now it takes 1/4 at most and it can get up to speed no problem

      Yes any 4l60e it will work with....just make sure you follow the instructions and check out the few RUclips videos I found on here before I did it. You have to make sure to keep certain things in the same direction when you put them back in. Total install was like 30 minutes. And you have to add about 1 quart of fluid after because almost 1 quart drops out when you open it up.

      Nope. It hasn't tripped anything. Just an amazing running $20 part that took 30 minutes and a quart of trans fluid to install and it was probably the part the made the biggest difference to my truck hands down....It REALLY woke it up....I HIGHLY recommend it for any chevy truck if you want it to run more aggressive, but with big tires it just makes it run basically identical to how it did stock if you arent re-geared yet when under 50 mph..

Enough to feel anyway. And the reviews I read weren't bad. They claim their filtration is still great to pretty much the same as K & N but without the price. Now a days going with a company like K & N half the cost is going to just buying the name in my opinion.

      ebaysnipa In a word no it will not affect mpg to any extent. What it does is apply more pressure in 2nd gear. That translates to less slippage going into second gear, extending the life of the trans. Second (and fourth) gear applies the band which is a notorious weak point.

    my truck came with 3.73 stock gears, I installed 35" tires but now it feels sluggish. should I go with 4.56 gears or maybe go for the 4.88?? later, I'm planning on going with 37" tires since my truck is lifted. thanks for any advice!

    • @cameronwelch78
      @cameronwelch78  7 лет назад +1

      4.56 should be plenty for 35-37" tires. if you want to get to the nitty gritty, 35" tires are 10% larger than the stock tires it comes with. so 4.11's are exactly 10% lower gearing so that would put you back to stock gearing. but it still might be a tad slugger than stock because although you have fixed the ratio, the tires still weigh 30-40 lbs more than stock. my buddy had the 4.8L vortec with 35"s and 4.56 and he said they were perfect, could spin tire no problem and had plenty of power. so 4.56 should probably be great with 35-37"

    • @cameronwelch78
      @cameronwelch78  7 лет назад +1

      Sgt Tanguma I would stick with 4.56 gears
      35" tires are 11% bigger than stock
      37" tires are 16% bigger than stock
      but 4.56 gears are a 22% correction/change compared to stock. meaning with 37% tires, you'd still be geared 6% lower than stock.
      plus the higher the pinion ratio, the less tooth contact you have with the pinion. a lot higher chance of blowing something out with 5.10s as opposed to 4.56

    • @whatchu_talkin_john_willis
      @whatchu_talkin_john_willis 7 лет назад +1

I changed the o-ring and I haven't had any lifter tick but now at idle it reads like 10 psi and when driving, it doesn't get above like 30 psi at WOT. My ticking problems are gone, but my oil pressure definitely seems low. (Too low for my preference). The GM book says as low as 8 psi is "okay". I'm rebuilding the engine later this year so it just has to make it that far and it's getting a melling pump.

      Chris Henry it's all about power and gearing. a v8 putting out 350-400 horses is plenty of power for most applications. but even with that you can't expect it to propel a full size 6000 lb truck to 60 in less than about 7.5-8. seconds. a Sonoma with a 350 should haul ass.
