@@jordandeleeuw3083 it doesn't seem too far from the stock C6 Z06 i've driven a few times. I haven't gone anywhere near 200 myself, but have been told that it hits 200 shifting into 6th, just like this video, and the 60-130 seems like when I was driving the Z06.
That's the LS motor for ya, one of the few things GM ever got right. On most other engines the fresh coolant enters at the top the engine from the radiator, flows down through the engine, and hot coolant is sent out from the bottom of the engine back to the radiator to be cooled. On the LS motor its reversed and fresh coolant comes in from the bottom and the heated coolant flows out the top back to the radiator. This is much more thermally efficient then trying to cool an engine from the top down because heat rises and heats the coolant up faster in topside cooling.

One notable exception to this was the LT1 which was in the corvette from 1992-1996 and the F-bodies from 1993-1997. That cooling system was the unique system where it did in fact cool the cylinder heads first, then the block, then out to the radiator. The advantage to cooling the heads first is being able to run higher compression ratios. Case in point, the LT1 had a 10.5:1 compression ratio and the LS1 when it came out had a 10.0:1 ratio. Pumping the coolant through the heads first then down through the block does have some disadvantages though, it can be harder to purge the air out of the system and requires the steam pipes be operational to prevent hot spots and stuff like that. You can in fact run higher compression when you cool the heads first, but back when the LS1 was in development there was a lawsuit about patent infringement that involved the LT1 and its reverse flow cooling, which may explain why the LS1 never got it.

I can vouch for this. My C6 Z06 is a scary car between 3rd,4th and 5th gears. I can’t begin to tell anyone how many times I’ve scared myself in those 3 gears. These cars absolutely rip.
I’m no gearhead by any means and have only touched 130 being my top speed in anything (besides an airplane Lolol) but I drove my buddies 2020 Shelby gt500. Tuned e85 to a tad over 800 horse. I thinks it’s around 817. Anyhow, the majority of people don’t understand the power of a machine with those kind of numbers. I’m not saying it’s the world’s fastest thing. It’s not. But the power of those kind of machines is insane. Dropping it down to 3rd and letting her eat, scared the shit out of me. I’ve driven a c8 (regular, no zo6 or anything) flat out, wide open on a track. Fast. Touching scary fast. But his gt500? Scared me. I went from about 2k rpm to right around about 6k and then hit 4th. Before I knew it, I went from about 47 mph to right at 107. Then 130. Then I just couldn’t do it anymore. It fucking scared me. I let off. I don’t care what anyone says. I’m not accustomed to that kind of power. Vehicles like that, are made to eat fuel and shit pavement. It was an absolutely unreal experience. One that gave me respect and fear at the same time. Just an incredible moment in my life. Just thought I would share this. There are machines made to dominate the asphalt in regards to nothing but speed and fuel consuming madness. Just incredible. 🤝🤝🤝

Hint: the primary thing you're up against is wind resistance - which is equal to the frontal area times the coefficient of drag times air density, all divided by kinematic viscosity of the air, all multiplied by velocity SQUARED. That V^2 is a real gut punch.

In the ten years since you posted this comment, you've probably come to realize that just because you have another, higher gear doesn't mean you can go faster. By that logic, you could add 50 more gears and go mach 5... which is obviously foolish. Your engine is putting out power to overcome three sources of drag: rolling resistance, grade resistance (going up a hill) and wind resistance. At speeds at or above 80mph, wind resistance is by FAR the biggest. Together, these three factors are called "road load". When engine power = road load, you've hit your top speed. In this video, if he shifted up into 6th, engine speed would drop to about 5500rpm where the engine doesn't make enough power to overcome the road load associated with 200mph - thus the car would slow down. Another example: I had a 1998 Cobra which came stock with 3.27 rear end gears. It had a top speed of 147mph which it achieved in 4th gear at 6800rpm redline. If I shifted into 5th, the car would slow down to 141mph. When I swapped in some 4.10 rear end gears, I could only go 120mph in 4th gear @ 6800rpm, but 5th gear took me to 152mph @ 6200rpm
When trying to get the best high speed 5th gear is best. I’ve raced SS Camaro’s with 6 speeds and Corvette Z06’s with 6 speeds. Six gear is just a milage gear to cruise in.
