My parents bought a Premium Padmini ( brand new) in 1972 at a price of Rs 27000/- . We sold it in 1994 at a profit. Never had any major problems. I loved the Amby too.

Suspension is not the best, steering gives no feedback, no AC, performance is lagging, brakes are bad etc...etc... We all know that Faisal. How was the feeling? That is what is expected from this car. Obviously you cannot compare with modern cars.

I wanted to hear the sound from startup to every gear changed but guess what, thanks to you I couldn't get a clear patch whatsoever even after playing this clip over a dozen times ....
When reviewing an old classic you should also go back in time so as to match up. Life was a whole lot slower back then and things were crisp and clear so this should reflect in your narration.

Wrong style!! . You does not roll up windows when you drive a "Padmini". You roll them down, place your upper arm on the door, You use your right hand in that position to drive and use the left one to change the steering gear. Same with "Ambassador, ones who hold the wheel with both hands are considered a "novice"...........lol.
When you Reverse the car, You does not use the ORVM or IRVM, you are supposed to look back, Keep the left arm fully on the seat back for whatever reason and then do it. Yeah it is actually how one use to drive in the good old days.😁😄

That's a beautiful car as it is . .. just wish that we avoid the those small critics for the car .. as we know these are the vintages beauty Marvels and we shouldn't have mindset of new gen car while reviewing a vintage beauty.
This was my First car, Mine was 1963 Fiat with rounded boot lid,What an experience, that car has made me learn the automobile coz every time I take out the car I used to bring it back with new problem every time and I used to fix it. But driving pleasure and Comfort was next to next level. We do not get that comfort in any high end luxury car. When I bought the new car I used to get scared about whether I would be able to operate the floor gears , I was very low on confidence, I used to drive in tight traffic of Pune in those days with these Steering mounted gear shift lever and all. Overall very nice learning and ownership experience.

My father bought one when I was 5 months old that's oct 1990 then sold it after some years and bought another one. Both preowned. I got to get my hands on it when I was 10 years old and by 12 I could drive it independently. I know it's illegal but back then there were hardly any cars on road in Assam. Sold the 2nd one in the year 2018 and bought the legendary santro xing which we sold this month. Watching this video felt the craving of driving this car 'dear padmani' again.

Miss my s1 with the flow gears. Gad 14.inch opel rims and 205 6 r14 Falken tyres. Was also a part of the Fiat classic car club India. But had two seats in front as it was flow gears
