How many #FasBeamers have seen the 118 NE in person? Did you know this is a Lada? Special thanks to instagram.com/bhushan_patekar/ for lending me his vintage car!
I think my dad had this before I was born and regarding that hood thing I hv seen that in our commander .. the first vehicle in which I learnt to drive.. it's steering was so dead.. u could play with it even though it used to go straight... horrible brakes.. I mean very heavy peddle feel both clutch and brake.. the gear stick shift even without applying clutch we could shift it... lmao.. back in 90s Mahindra had made IMT...
Thank you Faisal for this video. I am very much emotionally attached with 118NE which my father had bought in 1988 when I was in 8th std. Yes the gear box was super slick. Our 118NE had come with a Japan made Nissan engine, clutch and gearbox. The blue engine cover and many other parts had prints in Japanese language. The engine was also super smooth right from idle to redline and the clutch had a great feel. Even the ride was supple, absorbed everything that came under. Ground clearance was low and straight line stability was very much assuring. Still it was not bad in ghats may be due to rwd mechanism. We used to get a highway fuel efficiency of 16 to 17 and city figure of 10 to 12. The max speed we had done was 130kph with lot of wind, engine(not coarse though) and road noise but speeds like 50 to 70kph felt like pin drop silence with nearly zero engine and suspension noise. Steering was old school worm & roller type. The only down side it had was severe body rust. After having many colour treatments we finally sold it in 2000. There are many many unforgettable moments connected with our 118NE. Thank you once again.
the Nissan 118 engine was a revelation in smoothness for its time. And one of the first "next gen" cars to be able to comfortable exceed 100 kph without breaking a sweat. And with just 4 gears.
Sir you really responded to my comment regarding this car. Thank you sir It's a rare thing these days that any big youtuber reads his comment section. Thanks sir❤️🙏
Fiat 138D was the luxurious robust cars of late 90s in India. But lada is still selling these type of cars in Russia as well as in Peru . This car was very popular in those golden age times and now it become so rare in our Indian roads
OMG... This was my dad's first car... We had a petrol 118 🙂 must say it had buttery smooth gear box and the AC was super powerful. We had travelled a lot in this car, it even had a wonderful suspension. Thanks for shooting this Car, nostalgic 😇
This review brought a smile to my face. My dad owned 2 of these back to back (petrol versions) and I have so many memories of it including me learning to drive on it. Was definitely very comfortable and yes it used to often heat on the highways and break down. Lol
The Nissan Gear box was one of the best available then…It was butter smooth and shifting gears was like splicing a slab of butter. The 1.38D was an in house built Diesel engines which gave good mileage but was known to guzzle money for maintenance. The engine was also used in Padmini Diesel. The 118 NE came in late 1986 and not 1984. The Petrol engine was butter smooth though …1171 CC
Hey Faisal please do a vlog on the Fiat Uno petrol launched in India .....we had booked it but then had to cancel it due to long waiting period and finally PAL closing down.
My father owned this car in 1989, sold it within a year and bought a Maruti 800 as it was known as neck chopper, its hood opened towards front and during head on collisions the hood opened and crashed through windshield, many accidents had front passenger's head decapitated
I always admired this car when I was a kid but don't know which company made this, is this the indian version of ussr Lada? Would love to own one if found one
Please handle old cars with some care... You are always breaking something on old gems.. It will be really hard for it's owners to replace with the genuine ones... Lots of love... Keep rocking...
Thanks faisal for the review my dad use to love 118 ne for its sitting comfort and road grip drive it's was heavy body car and engine power wasn't enough the pick up was slow and one need to shift gear in short interval
This car is far better than a 30 lac Innova, aerier seats, comfort, easy to maneuver, little bit manual handling but that's also good for the driver ! Yes, you cannot make a trip from Kerala to Kathmandu, but who does such trips other than Autocar India /Powerdrift !
My father had 118 ne in 2002 then he sold that car 2009 because the car was having some problem from that day till today he really miss his car after I send this video to my father he was very happy after seeing this video. Thanks Faisal for making this video
Lada should come to India, they really do make good, robust cars. Those cars that survive in the harsh Russian winters, will run forever here. It'll also improve Indo - Russian relations.
Yes Maruti 1000 and Esteem shares same body shell and looks but Esteem had Red reflectors on tailgate and 1.3L written on both side of front fenders. M1000 had black reflectors on tailgate. Many people doesn't know there was a car named Maruti 1000.
Pretty looks likes a Retro car. But sounds very hard like old Diesel . Faisal Khan is always kidding after telling features😂. It's really a Good looking Fiat.
Hi Faisal can you tell me the location of that place as I can see lots of padmini and 118 getting there work done as I own one much difficult here to find good mechanics thank you
