    I am NOT a professional or expert. I am a DIY home owner. This video is NOT step by step instructions on how to install a tankless heater. It's simply an overview that hopefully helps others trying to figure out if they should attempt to do this themselves or hire a professional. I made the video simply because I couldn't find a lot of resources out there and hoped this would be helpful for others. If you're unsure of your skill levels regarding plumbing and electrical work I recommend hiring a professional to help with some or all of the install. Best of luck!
    NOTE: You MUST install a discharge pipe on your relief valve. The video doesn't include that but I did install one after the fact.

    Got the same one, and yes the flickering of the lights every time we use hot water. My son thought the bulb was going out. But yes it's a small problem, other then then that it's spotless.

    I could not find the size of the electrical knockout in the manual and we are installing this soon. Rheem hung up on me twice. Thank you for that information!!! This will save us the running around that you had to do:)

    Great video! I’m in the process or researching and trying to figure out what I need in regards to power. I only have 150amp panel. Was looking to install this 36kw until but might not work with my panel. I only have a 2 shower home with a inlet water temp of 72/75deg

      Probably way too much for your panel. But one of the smaller heaters might work. Just make sure you check the specs out. Good luck!

    Greetings, great content. Im actually in the process and a little stuck at the breaker box. Once I get past that I can move forward. Im studying up on code now my system is a baby compared to yours, im thinking i may have to upgrade.

    Per code you need a form of disconnect for your electrical at the water heater. Can’t go just straight in with conduit, you should have a fused disconnect on each circuit.

      Interesting. Both the heater and circuit breaker are in the garage within site of each other. Is that enough?

      Your comment got me thinking...so I checked it out. The water heater is set to 125 F. The water temp at two faucets, one close and one far from the heater, is 120 F.

    On the elbow fitting near the hot water cleanout there is a pressure relief valve, you need to install a vertical pipe going down toward the floor, ending a few inches above the floor. If pressure builds up for any reason, that pressure relief valve will open, spewing scalding hot water out the elbow. If you get near the hwh when this hot water is spewing out, you are going to be severely burned.

You make a video to show thousands of people how to "correctly" install something - and because you did not do it right - guess what you have done - you've just shown all of them how to do it wrong, when they think you are the "expert" who did it right

      I made a video as a guide to help others trying to figure out if they should attempt this themselves since DIY information on these heaters is limited on the internet. I never claimed to be an expert. I showed everyone that the product recommends professional installation (albeit in a lighthearted way).
      With that said, your point is valid and accurate. I've updated the description of the video and added 2 captions in the video regarding the discharge pipe. I opted against re-uploading the video because doing so would delete the comments that I believe are helpful towards the conversation. Thanks for your observations.

      I don’t believe the pressure relief valve is needed or required on a tankless. So the vertical pipe is not needed either.

    I have the same tankless water heater and recently it stopped heating up water. Do you know how I can fix it. We have replaced the flow meter still don’t work

      I'm certainly no expert. The heating elements can fail over time. Maybe that's the issue?

    So 300 Amps is recomended but would you feel okay installing it on 200?

      I read about another person on a DIY forum that installed one with 200 amp service and it was fine. It depends on how much stuff you have drawing power. It has the potential to draw 160 amps.
      Looking back I probably could’ve sized down to the 27kw model and been fine. That model uses three 40amp circuits instead of four. It says you can use it with 200amp service. We have a 3 full bath home with 3 people for context.
      Please note I’m not an electrician. If I was in your shoes I’d look at the 27kw model. Good luck!

    Is that method to code? Running romex into the flex? I’m installing a 27 but it must be to the building code.

      I’m honestly not 100% as I’m just a homeowner and not an electrician. I found conflicting info out there.

      I’d strip back the outer pull sheathing and just run the wires individually in the flex. Install a junction box at the top where the romex will enter and the other end of the flex goes to same jbox.

      @@u2ooberboober I ran the wire from the panel thru the wall and exited the drywall thru an LB. The LB connected to the water heater. All per code with my inspectors approval.

      @@donhuffer5167 I always wonder about conduit fill for the size of conductors to prevent heating. I guess the lb can be considered a nipple with no limitations.

    36kW is too much for residential homes. Only good if you have at least 300Amp house.

      We have 300A service. In hindsight I could've sized down. Too late now.
