Thanks for the video. I am going to change fluid in my ZT Elite soon and it is nice to be able to actually "see" it done. I am really enjoying the mower. Thanks again !

I'm the happy owner of a 2022 ZT Elite, just coming up to 1 year/50 hours so ready to do the service and noticed that my mower has no hydraulic fluid reservoirs. Is there a how-to video or sheet for changing the oil and purging the system for my rig?
That is correct. There is no need to check the levels as you go because you have to get the system filled to the "Cold Fill Line" on the tanks. Through the process of getting the level to the port plug then filling to the expansion tank, effectively you are "checking" the levels. Just make sure to do the purge process. Great question!
Great Video. Good closeup of all the particular screws n ports to look for. Need a video explaining how to equal both drive bars. Ive been looking for a good Bad Boy video expaining that. Look for ward to that. Thanks.
This is a very easy to follow, even if you're 85 he's old, Tks.
My 2021 Maverick with the ZT3200's is ready for service. Mine does not have expansion tanks like any other diy video on here. Instead mine has a vent port next to the fill plug. Do you or can you make a video on how to service one of these? I know this is an old video
The expansion tank is just an overflow. That is why the fill to line is right on the bottom of the tank. The potential air bubbles in the system are tiny so purging the air will not cause a significant drop in fluid levels. If you have filled to the tank then the fluid in the tank and hydraulic hose going to the transaxle has plenty of leftover/reserve fluid to ensure the trans is full during and after the purge process.
I have a 2014 zt elite with the Allen head port plugs that are stripped out. I noticed that you guys have changed over to a bolt head port plug. Is there any alternate plug for the allen head port plug design for the 2014 model.
Just purchased a 2024 BB 60 ZT there isn't a reservoir on this model and 2 caps over the axle which one is the fill/check?
I've been trying to get an answer to that question for about 3 months now.
you guys ROCK. Thank you for this video.
2023 Maverick has no expansion tank. It would be nice to see a video on how to service the 3200 Hydro-Gear 10cc Integrated Transaxle.
Agree
FYI to the peeps with the Maverick 54...it has 8 grease points...take note and put that in ya pipe and smoke it

I also have a 2022 ZT Elite 54 with no expansion tanks so I'm not sure where the fill port is. I found a schematic diagram of the transaxle online (not in my owner's manual) that showed the location of the fill port, but when I took a look at mine, there are 2 plugs in that location. I don't know which one to fill. I called the dealer where I bought the mower, and the mechanic had no idea that there are mowers without expansion tanks. It wouldn't make sense to take it there. Please answer the question on how to fill the transaxle with no expansion tanks. I'm coming up on 100 hours!
thanks my zt 60 2012 will get new trans oil and filters tomorrow
Perfect! Glad to hear it. If you have any suggestions or any questions feel free to let us know.
My manual says to use 20w50 motor oil in the trans on both sides....both of my brothers Maverick mowers is same way
What is the process of i have internal expansion tanks in my 3100s?
Where are the bypass valves at?
What can I use to top off my hydraulic cylinder on my zt elite
I got my bad boy from my neighbor and have not been able to mow with it yet due to the poor condition from neglect. The mower looks like a very well built machine. My last step was to replace the busted hydro tanks and do a fluid change. Pulling the filters revealed water contamination my question is how do I clean and flush the system? Both motor seem to still operate at least driving from the field to the shop around 100 yards.
are there any videos of servicing the magnum models
Why is this procedure not in my 2021 Maverick instruction manual. As it says refer to that section but yet there’s nothing .
Apparently someone dropped the ball here ?
I'm so happy. I saw this comment because it says refer to the purging section in 2 different places. Yet there is no purging section.!
My bad boy elite with a kawasaki 726 cc dose not have the white tanks you put fluid in to fill up
Nope...they stop putting them on there..just a 18 or 19mm metal bolt plug on top of transaxled...have to use a long skinny oil funnel to refill...besides the plastic tanks dry rot n leak...
Did the procedure now the fluid leaks out when it is parked , looks like a small bolt next to the filter but there is no head on it to tighten even though it looks like an allen wrench head, contacted bad boy and 2 of their dealers and nobody has any idea what these plugs( i call them) are or how i they get removed. I have had this mower less than five years this will be my first and last bad boy mower i every buy. How do u build something and not know how to fix it
I’m dealing with the same issue did you ever get it fixed?
My manual says to raise rear tires off the floor when purging so I assume that the video while it doesn't say this, they must be.
Yep they missed that.
Why do you call out needing 2 gallons of new oil? Especially considering Im paying $30 per gallon 😡 (Tractor Supply) and if each tranny only holds a half gallon...
A question I have wondered myself.
I have changed mine several times, it takes 1/2 gallon per side.
My booklet says they use 2 Qts each that's 1 gal. I am not a mechanic.
you do not mention checking the fluid level during this operation when purging the air. is that because it is unnecessary? Thanks for the video.
I have a bad boy mower and it just started bucking or severely jerking on the right side hydro any idea what that might be or if this might fix that issue?
Check your transaxle bolts. The ones holding it to the frame. We had this happen before and the bolts had come loose.
I ordered your kit and received just 1gallon of oil. Why wouldn’t you include 2 gallons? I received 2 filters...why not enough oil??
Great question! All of the hydraulic kits we sell come with at least 2 gallons of fluid. There are other places online that only sell one gallon but that will not fill the transaxles up. Verify where you ordered this. Like I said all of our kits are sold with at least two gallons.
I checked... it was from you
@@WrenchAddiction no reply not good but I do have to say that I love my Bad Boy mower
I did the service now it leaks out oil when I park it over night.
Hello, i cannot gwt the air out of my lines i have done exactly what you said to do. Is there anything else u can do?
Go to the 3:20 mark. Fill with oil, cap it. Then bleed the air from the lines. This part should help you.
Did you jack up the rear wheels and move the steering arms back and forth ( wheels turning )?
My 54" mz magnum ive heard is a sealed unit but my left trans is gwrting louder and weaker then it use to be whar can i do to service it sounds low i fluid to me. Can i add fluid or change it? Aby help please.
Same I have the 48" but having issues on one of the sealed units. How do you service a sealed unit.
@@C0C0_Nuts beat it with a sledge hammer and go buy another lawn mower with serviceablr transaxled...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video. Got questions about belts. There's a belt loose on my 2013 ZT 60 and the mower starts but won't move. I find no videos about replacing pump belt or drive belt nor is there any info in my manual. Help?
Great question. This is one of the videos we get asked about a lot. We have the pump belt videos on tap to do this winter. There is no service manual or videos showing how to do this so we understand the need for this video. We just ran out of time this past off season to get the pump belt video done.
I've heard that you need to have the mower on jack stands with the rear tires off the ground while purging the air. I noticed that method wasn't used in this video. Is it necessary to do that? Thanks
Good question because the mower would be moving on the ground in the second step with transmissions in lock position.
What filter do I need to use for servicing transaxle on my Bad Boy Elite Z T
Get a 2-pack from tractor supply.
Where is the bypass valve
How many hours need reemplace the filter and oil at transmission?.. thanks
I change mine at 500.
My book says change the oil in them 75-100 hours after that every 400 hrs.
How do I identify which transmission is in my 2009 ZT? The tags seem to show other info but not the model.
open what by pass valves?
The L shape rods on both sides of the frame of underside rear of mower.....just above the transaxle locations...they have a safety pin in them....gotta lay down on the ground so you can see them
The bypass valves are in the transmission to open them pull the silver levers that are behind the axels with the little clips in them. There's about 8 small holes in them. pull out those levers and place the pins in the last hole holding the levers out away from the axles. That's what my booklet says anyway. I am not a BB mechanic.
When should it be changed
Geoffrey Russell 250 hours
THIS SHIT SHOULD BE IN THE GOD DAM BOOK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same goes for the locations of all the grease ports. Manual says there are 14, but only shows a few in the parts lists. I found 8. Can’t find the rest. I agree manual on the used one I got is fairly useless.
Mine is in the manual
Same procedure on a MZ Magnum?
MZ Magnum has sealed trans and they are NON serviceable
Mz 42' 19hp sealed also?
@@michaeldevine301
Thank you for letting me know about the mz bad boy 54" is a sealed unit...
I've been searching for over an hour on how to do it....
So is it just going to break down at some point because we can’t service it?
snapped off my front filter cover bolt
