So many of the Bad Boy reviews are only walk a rounds...Look how thick the steel on the deck is...look at the nice paint...look how easy it is to get to the engine air filter...look how easy it is to change oil and filter...On and on. Okay, most of us already know all that, but what almost all of these reviewers fail to do is show us how well it actually mows in the real world. You really gave your mower a real world stress test. I have yet to see or find a single video of the 42" MZ Rambler doing some actual mowing . All I have found so far is walk a rounds with the reviewers bragging and slobbering over the Rambler saying what a great mower and how well built it is.
I have 8 acres of tough field grass. I went thru 2 lawn and garden tractors in 5 years. My property destroyed them. I bought a Bad Boy Maverick and I love it. It takes everything I can throw at it with ease. My grass cutting time has been reduced by 2/3. Two upgrades that I made was adding a suspension kit to the seat, and replacing the turf tires with lug tires. Both were well worth the money. I recommend Bad Boy to everyone. The thing is almost indestructable.
I feel the same about that. Even stepping on the 60in mowing deck it feels like a tank. It was worth every penny I spent on it. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

I purchased my MZ Magnum 54 with Koehler engine in the middle of the Pandemic. So I had to wait a few months before I was allowed to pick it up. I went from a John Deere 42” (La115?) and had been push mowing my 2.3 acres with a Ryobi 20” push mower (yeah, not ideal but I had to mow and it gave me something to do during the lock down). So I had been taking all week to mow with the Ryobi (insert dumb looking face here) and went to about 2 hours to mow all of my property including trimming. I used to pay a local guy with a tractor to mow the back half of the property but started to mow it myself. It was as high as your field you just cut! I had to go over some of the parts a couple of times, but I don’t fault the mower for that, just this lazy home owner. Haha. I am with you though! Bad Boy construction is top notch. I tested out several in north Texas where we live and most were not as solid as the Bad Boy. Just step on the deck of a Bad Boy and all the rest flopped around (maybe not the pro grades like Ferris and whatnot, but I didn’t heed that high end of machine). Way to go Bad Boy! Only complaint I have is the digital display quit on me after 15 hours. I had seen that in reviews leading up to it. I don’t know if I will replace that or not. It is disappointing that I can’t easily display the hours of use though. All in all, this has been a great machine for us. We are country dwellers so our grass is mostly cut pastureland. Thanks for your review! All the best!
I wanna see Bad Boy upgrade you to a Rogue or Renegade and put those through the same tests. You deserve it for the recognition you're giving them. And if I had a Rogue or Renegade, I'd do what you did here every day. As long as it's not wood-based vegetation, hit it; don't quit it. ***Also, if you want a similar ride to the Maverick, you'd better not choose the Rebel. Neither of them have the squishy front puck suspension.
One thing to remember is that the Rebel gets you to entry commercial level. Everyone talks about the engine, but it’s more important to talk about the hydraulics and the transmission. The rebel gets you to firm commercial level gears and proper hydraulics. I do prefer the Kawasaki, 999 I had grass with thorns, and small plants and trees on 12 acres, just as high, but a lot thicker, and it cut through
I agree on the Kohler. The confidant is a little more towards their commercial line and it’s got the cast iron cylinders and they’re pretty tough. Add a Kohler command 23 on my John Deere riding mower and it’s 19 1/2 years old and that thing still works great. I beat that thing to death for years and I have traded to the Maverick because I needed something faster but that old Kohler come in 23 engine on my little John Deere L1 30 is pushing 1000 hours and I replace almost everything on that mower except the engine and all I’ve ever had to do to. It was change a starter plugs a fuel pump and I cleaned the carb once. I think the Honda is definitely a better engine and the Kawasaki might be a little better, but I’ve got no problem with the Kohler and chose that. It’s pretty much the same as yours but without the suspension seat. I test drove the rebel, which doesn’t have the suspension on the front and rear wheels like the maverick and even with the suspension seat I liked the ride of the Maverick without the suspension seat better than the rebel. I really wanted to get the maverick HD with the Honda but it just wasn’t worth another $2000 for what I’m doing, I’ve only got a little over 2 acres to mow and got the maverick because it has the 3200 hydros on it, and half of my property is on a fairly steep slope and it’s probably overkill but I’m hoping it will last me 20+ years like that old John Deere did.
My Maverick has 3400 Hydros. I don't like that the new ones require the buyer to get the HD version now to get what mine had. I personally liked it when Maverick was just Maverick. I haven't found a BB Rogue without the suspension seat. It's a step up over the Maverick HD. I crossed 200 hours and am still running strong. I am still happy with the Bad Boy. Congrats on your new ride! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
@@JustinsProject I was pretty close to getting a rebel and it has the 4400 drives and it had a 27 hp Kawasaki but the one I’ve got is overkill already and I just couldn’t justify spending another $2300. The maverick HD is also a couple thousand dollars more. If I had money to throw away, I probably would’ve gotten the Maverick HD. I think the rebel and the rogue are just too big. They’re a good foot longer and about 300-400 pounds heavier. I was mowing, huge, golf courses, or some thing I can see a point to that but for most yards you’re going to have too many bumps to go full speed even at 9 miles an hour, going 12 or faster would be really sketchy unless you’re on a nice smooth golf course or football field. Mine doesn’t have the suspension seat but it’s still drove a little better than the rebel with the suspension seat in it because the rebel doesn’t have the chassis suspension like the Maverick does. They’re all little different, but I think the maverick was definitely the best bang for the buck. I’ve talked to a few dealers, and they think the same thing and that’s pretty much their best seller because it’s bullshit tough and you really can’t get close in the other brands for the price. I liked hustler and grasshopper also and the high-end Toro mowers were really nice but I just think the Maverick was a better deal and had everything I wanted on it and was still affordable
My back up mower is a 16 year old MTD with a 726 cc Briggs. The only engine problem is the valves get out of adjustment every year. My Bad Boy elite 60” hasn’t had a problem since I fixed a few problems from new.
I bought a bad boy pup in 2006 it is 60 inch deck I mow a little over 5 acres every week had carburetor trouble one time replaced the spindles but otherwise no problems
Amazing how I have a field with same weeds and same height with goat weed. I keep it mowed now but I use the zt elite 60 in deck and it mows like a champ!
Hey Justin, man where ever you live it looks hot...thanks for all of your vids I take heed and listen up because I'm a nube on these, I use to use Dixie Choppers back in the late 90's for a couple of years, but things have sure changed since then...Yea I'm learning a lot from your vids....Peace to You and Yours good Sir....Paul and Dede in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Much appreciated, and thanks for watching. Bad Boy Mowers are great mowers for sure. I've tested this Maverick time and time again. It exceeds my expectations in a lot of areas.
Density matters more than height does. I've mowed similar fields with a $4k hustler. Most machines with a fabricated deck and at least 21hp can manage mowing tall stuff. I do like the maverick hd though, especially since it is available with a 42" deck, and it may be what I upgrade to in a couple of years when my raptor sd starts to show some wear.
Wow, I never knew that Bad Boy makes bush-hogs! I'm about ready to buy a Maverick HD 60- only thing holding me back is that I want a carbureted engine, but the only carb engine they offer on this model is the Kawi 23.5 horsepower. The Briggs & Scrap'em has 27HP, but is EFI (I don't have the specialty scanner for it, and am not buying one for one mower!)- Love Kohler ...but it's EFI....
I got the 60-inch deck because it makes for faster work when mowing over 6 acres. Smaller deck (below 48") usually means 2 blades vs. 3 blades. I'm not sure either way, I can see positives and negatives for both smaller and larger decks. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Bought a 48" MZ Magnum on the 7th of this month with the Briggs 25hp engine, Last Saturday just three weeks and less than 8 hours the engine started making a racket, took both spark plugs out, one at a time and started it, looks like the rods are bent on one side. Only thing I was worried about when I bought this was the engine. Very nice mower and I love to use it, however now it is sitting waiting for Bad Boy to decide on what do with it.
Just bought me a new rouge yesterday live in East Texas wondering how it'll do on thick pipeline grass at. My deer lease is all mowable with a good zero-turn
I have eight patch wields on it. The thing is a tank though. I have 15 acres of 82 I mow for the past 8 years. Snapper is not what it used to be anymore.
My sisters got the bad boy maverick its a great mower. I went spartan my spartan is same price for very comparable mower. ive got a way bigger floor board, thicker steel, sturdier feel to everything, it feels more ergonomical to me...Hers rides better but the spartan seat location and height is better. This is not a bash on bad boy just my drethers
Robert Foster which used to work at Bad Boy now at Spartan. Both companies out of Batesville, Arkansas. So it makes total sense to me that they are tough mowers as well. I would love to test one out someday. Thanks for the input!
Yes, I have the suspension seat, which is a must for me. Also, my Maverick has front and rear suspension. All of that really helps with overall ride. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I just installed very sharp high lift blades, and it's doing great with those. Mowed my field, which is in a lot better shape now, then it was in this video. Was about 8 to 10 inches tall, and it cut it a lot better than my mulching blades. I would like to test out a Rogue for several hours. Nice mower! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
How is using a light commercial grade mower in a field of tall weeds abusing it? What are you supposed to do, fence it and turn loose some hungry goats?
Eventually, it may cause premature failure to components of the mower, since ultimately it is designed to cut short or moderate-height grass. Although it is built like a tank and would probably last many many years with no issues it is not specifically designed for this. We were cutting the field roughly every week and a half last summer. This year we choose to let it grow and cut it for hay. Let the frail mower do what it's designed to do. If fencing was not so expensive, goats or sheep would be a great option 😀
Impressive. I’m considering my first residential zero turn mower and comparing Bad Boy with Scag. Our property is 12,000 square feet. Your thoughts and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I would recommend the Maverick HD to anyone mowing up to 10 acres. I have the regular Maverick, and it could easily handle 10 acres. The HD is step up over mine. Great mowers. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Oh yeah, just bought a Mav 60" with a Kawi. We had a couple Kohler 7000 series 26 hp. Meh. One died right off the bat. The second engine has done pretty good to a point. The fuel system/ pump and lines have failed. I've gone with an electric pump now. :D
If you bought a 2015 60” 35 hp Bad Boy stocked with a Cat Diesel and then the dealer went out of business, … you would find yourself, like I did, way up the creek without a paddle. As if matters couldn’t get any worse, you can’t even get good maintenance info from the bad boy factory, since they turned from cat diesels to Perkins, diesels, a completely different animal! It would not be so bad if they would share with me hat kinds of hydraulic oils and transmission and rear end fluids and filters I can safely use in place of whatever is supposed to be used with my unit!
I cannot imagine using a gasoline engine on your zero turn … which means you will probably have to be hauling gas cans back-and-forth from a gas station in order to keep your property mowed. Using my 60 inch zero turn equipped with a cat diesel engine absolutely spoiled me. When I need fuel, which is much less often than I would if I was using a gasoline powered machine, I very quickly fill up from my 300 gallon diesel tank, which of course is right on my property.
I am hoping to move into 100% electric. I hate hauling that fuel around. All that loud noisy and such. However, it is time tested and powerful. I would like to be able to test a commercial grade electric zero turn.
pro tips, pass twice. I have that issue, tall weeds. I really didn't like the spiders falling on me. But got hold off on buying a tractor. first time I saw a bad boy I was like YES!!!
Question: who would want to sell their Bad Boy? They’re almost bulletproof. My JD mowers could never do anything close to what my Maverick HD can do. At 81 years of age, the suspension seat is a huge “ass set” for me. 😂 🤭
I have a Bad Commercial mower, & Bad Boy is a good Brand, but it's still not better than the Hustler Fastrak SDX. Cuts better & a way better Warranty & its alot Faster.
Yea I bought one of 60 inch bad boys few years back love it I’ve got 7 Arces but I’ve had 4 friends buy one also but dont buy the overpriced bagger that goes with it it’s junk
I have a tractor with a Kohler engine it is 31 years old and never had a problem with it in all those years. Bad Boy also offers a premium B&S engine that is supposed to be better than the Honda or Kawasaki and it is made in Japan.
I have a bad boy elite with 54” deck, Kawasaki engine, my dealer suggested I buy the Kawasaki engine, neighbor has a bad boy with kolilor engine it blew up on him, just my experience, I would not want to mow that field with my mower, So far my mower has been a good mower,
Wonder if your neighbor serviced it correctly. Or if it just blew up for no reason. Im over 200 hours with no issues. Hopefully, I can say that once I reach 500hr, 1000hr and beyond. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@JustinsProject he had lots of problems with his mower, bolt broke of two or three times that holds the clutch from turning, ripping the wires out, Then the motor blew up and the dealer would not support him, had to buy a new motor, Bad boy elite 54” cut, I drove it some before I bought my mower,
@fredhart7904 sounds like some heavy heavy use. Why did you choose Bad Boy if the dealer in your area doesn't support the customer? Honestly, that is a deal killer for me. Even if I never go to the dealer. I hate bad service. I haven't had to use service with Bad Boy yet. I am sure eventually I will, and I will be sure to follow up on that experience.

Awesome. Appreciate you taking the time to share that. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
@@JustinsProject sure thing. I started following you when you were discussing the emphases micro inverters. All the best!
@Brent Johnson Thanks for hanging out with me
Really love my 2022 48" Maverick w/Kawasaki
Congrats!!! Awesome mower. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I wish Bad Boy would help me upgrade, but I haven't heard anything from them. Although I do love my Maverick. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
@JustinsProject Contact them... make them a deal.
Tell them, "I'll put out update videos every other month, or once a quarter."
Thanks for the information and video.

Bad Boy "Mow with an Attitude"! 🤘
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Thanks man
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
One thing to remember is that the Rebel gets you to entry commercial level. Everyone talks about the engine, but it’s more important to talk about the hydraulics and the transmission. The rebel gets you to firm commercial level gears and proper hydraulics.
I do prefer the Kawasaki, 999 I had grass with thorns, and small plants and trees on 12 acres, just as high, but a lot thicker, and it cut through
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Go get your Rogue! freak'n love my '22 w/ 72" deck (5 acres) - major upgrade from my '12 zt elite.
Someday, someday I will. For now the Maverick is handling business pretty nicely. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Love your videos! Can’t decide between a grasshopper diesel front mount or the Maverick
Both! 😂 Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
I have a bad boy with a 42 inch deck on it. Yes, mine is a badass mower its self. It also has a Kholer engine on it too.
Awesome! Mowin' with attitude 😁 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I have a mz magnum with the 48” deck and the kohler, it’s a tank of a mower
My back up mower is a 16 year old MTD with a 726 cc Briggs. The only engine problem is the valves get out of adjustment every year.
My Bad Boy elite 60” hasn’t had a problem since I fixed a few problems from new.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience👍🏻
Great video. Thanks!
Glad you liked it! Thank you for watching and commenting! 👍
I bought a bad boy pup in 2006 it is 60 inch deck I mow a little over 5 acres every week had carburetor trouble one time replaced the spindles but otherwise no problems
What motor do you have on that bad boy?
@@JustinsProject it is a 27 hp Briggs and Stratton
Briggs is a fine engine
Amazing how I have a field with same weeds and same height with goat weed. I keep it mowed now but I use the zt elite 60 in deck and it mows like a champ!
Awesome! Bad Boy makes great mowers. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
i'm looking at the new renegade with perkins diesel engine.
Btw, I'm just south of you in central KY.
Thanks for watching and commenting
I must admit I have no desire or use for a electric mower but... I would like to see the video on one in use. :)
I have a EGO Z6 now that I could a review on. It's an electric zero turn with e-steer. Maybe I'll work on that. Thanks for watching and watching
I can't wait to get mine

I own that same mower it is awesome for sure
Rock on 🤘 Terry! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I have cut the same thing with a 32-year-old Snapper SR150. I will be retiring it after this season
32 years of service is good stuff! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Is it better to get a smaller deck with same motor? Seems like you would have more power in tall grass.
I love my Rogue with the 35HP 999cc Kawasaki! It’s not really a mower, it’s a tank that thinks it’s a mower.😊
Maybe some day I will upgrade. Would love to test drive one in the field. Congrats on the rogue btw! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
@@JustinsProject I do have a vid on my channel.
It’s a hot rod as well.
I have a 2017 bad boy zt elite and it gets down to
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Bought a 48" MZ Magnum on the 7th of this month with the Briggs 25hp engine, Last Saturday just three weeks and less than 8 hours the engine started making a racket, took both spark plugs out, one at a time and started it, looks like the rods are bent on one side. Only thing I was worried about when I bought this was the engine. Very nice mower and I love to use it, however now it is sitting waiting for Bad Boy to decide on what do with it.
Hopefully, Bad Boy gets you squared away. Please let us know either way. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Wow, Mowed the yard and found a neighborhood.
Just bought me a new rouge yesterday live in East Texas wondering how it'll do on thick pipeline grass at. My deer lease is all mowable with a good zero-turn
Congrats! The Rogue is a beast of a machine. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I have eight patch wields on it. The thing is a tank though. I have 15 acres of 82 I mow for the past 8 years. Snapper is not what it used to be anymore.
A little character shows it's been a good one. 😁
A real test, I have a JD 737, maybe early 2004, it would never cut what you did. Impressive bad ass Bad Boy😊
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Got a spartan also and love it. It was a very tough decision on what to get but very happy with the Spartan so far.
I need something with a suspension, due to a bad back & neck injury. Does BB have anything?
Yes, I have the suspension seat, which is a must for me. Also, my Maverick has front and rear suspension. All of that really helps with overall ride. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I bought one after I watched your videos. There is no telling how many Mavericks that you have sold for Bad Boy. Thanks
I'd like to upgrade to a bigger Bad Boy. I really like mine. Congrats! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I got a bad boy sorry lawn mower Farris is the best
Which bad boy mower did you get?
that's impressive the mower handled that tall of weeds/grass. I would have thought you'd need a bush hog for all that.
Thanks for watching and commenting
Mine also takes multiple passes on anything over a few inches. Bad BUY Rogue Kawi EFI 7.2 hours on 13 gallons.
Just bought a badboy maverick HD,it’s a tank.
Congrats!!! I'm so ready for the mowing season! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
It's not the height of what your mowing that puts the biggest load, but how dense and strong the vegetation is.
Wouldn't height add to density in the mowing chamber since it is chops it multiple times before slinging it out the chute?
what height did you mow?
The mowing deck highest setting is 4.5 inches. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Impressive. I’m considering my first residential zero turn mower and comparing Bad Boy with Scag. Our property is 12,000 square feet. Your thoughts and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
You stated 12,000 sq ft. That's about 1/3 acre, correct?
Do it again this time with the chute closed!
Why would I do that? I never mow with the chute closed in an open field.
@@JustinsProject I was just trolling, it would stress out any mower
Looking at the 2023 Mavrick HD thinking its similar you yours but has no flat front tires. Should I look for a bigger unit on my 8 acres?
I would recommend the Maverick HD to anyone mowing up to 10 acres. I have the regular Maverick, and it could easily handle 10 acres. The HD is step up over mine. Great mowers. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
My 2021 Maverick cuts 8 acres of field grass with ease.
Anyone have a zt avenger bad boy like me? Don't hear to much on these
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Oh yeah, just bought a Mav 60" with a Kawi. We had a couple Kohler 7000 series 26 hp. Meh. One died right off the bat. The second engine has done pretty good to a point. The fuel system/ pump and lines have failed. I've gone with an electric pump now. :D
Thanks for sharing
If you bought a 2015 60” 35 hp Bad Boy stocked with a Cat Diesel and then the dealer went out of business, … you would find yourself, like I did, way up the creek without a paddle.
As if matters couldn’t get any worse, you can’t even get good maintenance info from the bad boy factory, since they turned from cat diesels to Perkins, diesels, a completely different animal!
It would not be so bad if they would share with me hat kinds of hydraulic oils and transmission and rear end fluids and filters I can safely use in place of whatever is supposed to be used with my unit!
Yeah, that doesn't sound like a good time. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

JD is garbage.
My bad boy is a great zero turn. It cuts about 4 acres easily
Thanks for sharing!
I like my BadBoy, except the fuel guage and hour meter stopped working. 😊
My hour meter is starting to do some funky stuff also. Was thinking about replacing it before it goes out completely. Thanks for sharing!
I have a Bad Commercial mower, & Bad Boy is a good Brand, but it's still not better than the Hustler Fastrak SDX. Cuts better & a way better Warranty & its alot Faster.
Hustler is a solid mower. 💯 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I eat small trees with mine I love it
On occasion I feed mine some small trees also 😂

I have a tractor with a Kohler engine it is 31 years old and never had a problem with it in all those years. Bad Boy also offers a premium B&S engine that is supposed to be better than the Honda or Kawasaki and it is made in Japan.
So far no problem at all out of the Kohler. I hope this one will last 31 years. 😀
Cub Cadet, Bad Boy and Hustler are all owned by the same company.
Bad Boy is a privately held company. They are not connected to Cub Cadet or Hustler.

I would not want to mow that field with my mower,
So far my mower has been a good mower,
Wonder if your neighbor serviced it correctly. Or if it just blew up for no reason. Im over 200 hours with no issues. Hopefully, I can say that once I reach 500hr, 1000hr and beyond. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@JustinsProject he had lots of problems with his mower, bolt broke of two or three times that holds the clutch from turning, ripping the wires out,
Then the motor blew up and the dealer would not support him, had to buy a new motor,
Bad boy elite 54” cut, I drove it some before I bought my mower,
@fredhart7904 sounds like some heavy heavy use.
I heard the Ryobi battery operated mower is a piece of s*** Ryobi mowers her a piece of s*** I would stick with a gas one I have to Toros what is us-50 and a 42 I have good luck at Toros
