I really appreciate your video. I thought man that looks like my neck of the woods. Yup. I'm on the north face of Olympic Peninsula near Sequim. I'm 70 and tired of getting beat up every week on my Cub Cadet LT46 mower. Last time left me lame for 10 days with either a pulled muscle or aggravated disk. Time for a better machine. Leitz is the BB dealer here and had about decided on the Maverick HD 52 with Kawasaki. But then saw the Grasshopper front mount 52 on Town and Country. Maverick seems like the deal for your property, mine is 2.5 acres - sloped in 2 directions - 30 year old grass and lots of potholes and bone-jarring ruts from years of runoff and soil sluffing. Wondering if the Grasshopper is more for a flat smooth yard compared to the Maverick? You can get a glimpse of my yard to the north in the video Deer vs Tree Cage. Any thoughts before I pull the trigger? Again, thanks. Jack in Sequim
I work at Town and Country- how's that for coincidence? I've tested Grasshoppers on the property, and can definitely say that the Bad Boy mid mount has a much softer ride. The Grasshopper front mount rides great, though. Longer wheel base eats up a lot of bumps!
@@HomesteadBandwagon Softer ride is 98% of the decision. The remaining 2% is the beer holder. Thanks! Grasshopper is intriguing - but getting it serviced here might be a problem. Gonna need a wheelie-bar though or counter weights.
@@HomesteadBandwagon I'm looking forward to it; got the HD 60 in Kawasaki; delivery is Friday. Might be overkill for 1.75 - 2.0 acres - but it's a commitment to living here until they carry me out. And if I have to pay a kid to drive it - I'm sure there would be more takers on a great machine. Also added a receiver hitch and one of those assist bars for getting on and off of it. I was truly shocked at the strength and stability of the deck when I stepped on and off of it. I'm 6' and 300# and it didn't budge. Will probably add the dual LED light option and advanced chute system.
Looks exactly like my first day, getting stuck and pulling it out with the tractor, then thinking I ran out of fuel. If you have any more problems with it quitting running, make sure the vacuum hoses going to the charcoal canister aren't kinked, mine was kinked right at the battery. It will act like it's out of gas then when you remove the gas cap it will lose the built up vacuum in the tanks and run again for awhile. Drove me crazy the first few days.
The seat on that model is the tallest one that they have available, as far as I know. I wonder if a company like Grammer makes a Tall Guy seat... should be pretty easy to bolt one on if they did!
I was pretty impressed with its hill performance. It had no problem sticking to hillsides, stopping, starting, etc. If you're going full speed and trying to make a downhill turn, gravity certainly would drag the front end a bit, but it recovered well. The only problem i had was making sudden uphill turns at full speed. The machine has so much snap and power that it could pop the front wheels off the ground if a person wasn't being careful
