True, but for example Joe Cocker’s version of “with a little help of my friends” by the Beatles is way better in many people’s opinion. Also kind of like anything Kirk Hammett of Metallica, most RUclipsrs can play his stuff better than him. 😂
Btw RUclips covers of Jimi Hendrix didnt took the Band when Jimi died. They are 2 guitarrists of the same Band, compare them is kinda natural(btw i know they have different puposes, but the skill , tone and playability at the same songs is comparable)
@@frusciantegeartoneeh the fact is there would be no great songs to compare them if John hadn’t written them. That’s why he’s in the band and Josh isn’t.
john is 100% more sure about what notes he are playing and this is vital to a great guitar solo, josh is great but maybe cuz this is not his composition it sounds like he is not sure about the song
I see what you mean! Sometimes I do feel like John doesn’t know where he’s going with it and leaves you on the edge of your seat but then delivers in a big way. I feel Josh just kind of misses it compared to John but it may also boil down to tone as crazy as it sounds. Good tone is inspiring and John’s tone is pure gold.
If you want to compare Josh's performance with John's, I recommend you look up when he plays BSSM stuff. Josh always mentions in interviews that he knows those songs backwards and forwards.
I love Josh, But in this case you have the John, who wrote the song and the solo. John's tone has always been the best. So in your face, crunch and fuzzy, and his improv is always soooo goog.
If you play guitar, you instantly hear the differences…it’s an opinion question but my opinion is TRICKFINGER…he wrote it and he plays it with more emotion.
@@tn5074 Yeah you probably mean the solo of this song but rip-off is a big word here. We all understood it was more a tribute, it was obvious. The song itself is similar to Petty’s song but he was man enough to not be offended by it.
That’s not always the case though! Joe cocker’s version of the beetles song “with a little help of my friends” is far superior to the beetles version. I also agree about John though lol
I like your logic. 😂 But there are people that do better than original artists. For example Joe Crocker’s version of the Beetle’s song “with a little help from my friends” is usually thought of to be so much better than the original track. I like John better but it’s interesting hearing people’s thoughts.
Jonny greenwood > John frusciante What about j mascis? Graham coxon? Omar Rodriguez Lopez is a more technical composer. John is better at simple melody structure but could never write an album like mars Volta and before fans come in and say he played on the album. Omar wrote the music…. So doesn’t count.
Ironically some like Josh better! I was interested to see people’s opinions and sure enough there are some who prefer him. Of course I think Frusciante is better!
Yea I see what you mean. He definitely tried to find his own stage presence but always could tell he loved everything about John. Can’t blame him either..
I've watched dozens and dozens of Josh his liveshows with the Chilis and if one thing is incorrect then it's the statement you're giving. John was always very stiff on stage, especially on the SA tour. Josh was jumping around like crazy every night, so I don't really see where you're coming from?
@@coentertoogen7573 I gotta admit that John is indeed very stiff, but when he moves or kneels or shakes during solos it's almost a vivid image of how Josh used to. I'm not saying Josh copied John, it's just those little details that really threw me off.
These comparisons are weird cause John wrote all these songs. It's like, who did it better? Hendrix or the millions of YT Little Wing covers?

SRV wishes he wrote anything as good as Machine Gun@@giova90metal
Josh playing the solo : An Angel
John playing the solo : A Biblically Accurate Angel
😂 I like that analogy. And also completely agree! 🙏
The tone, and the polished, smoothness are all on John F.
It would be cool if they were both in the band. They have parts in some songs that have two guitar parts.
My thoughts exactly.

Josh is great, but there is no comparison to John when tplaying any of the Rhcp matterial.
a single impeccable John Frusciante....
John is the real guitarist of the chili peppers, i think there's nothing to add... 🤘🎸💖
That’s one way to look at it!
I don't think we need this type of videos, it's obv who is better
True but I was curious to hear different opinions. Some actually like Josh better.

This song is a rip off of purple haze.

Caralho pegar versões do Josh no primeiro ano com a banda é foda.
você não gosta dos primeiros anos de Josh com a banda?
You should compare Dani California to purple haze.
Then compare before the beginning with maggot brain.
anthony: yeah wooh
love josh sm
I agree. I’m partial to John but Josh is great as well.
who composed dani california?
