Semenya, Niyonsaba and Wambui are all males with male-only DSDs. Not women with "high testosterone" or "female athletes with hyperandrogenism" as the press and sources like Wikipedia constantly say. All three of these athletes have been through male puberty.
Semenya has XY 5-ARD and Wambui has said publicly he has the same condition. Males with 5-ARD can father children. They have fully functioning testes and all the sports advantages of a typical adult male who has been through male puberty.

No - all 3 have 46XY 5ARD- a DSD condition with internal testes producing male levels of testosterone and they went through male puberty.
Yes,South Africa,Burundi and Kenyan doctors when they were growing up didnt have the knowledge/expertise & so they were brought up as girls.However when they didnt go through female puberty & got involved with elite athletics the doctors there would have known but there were no proper rules around it,so obviously it was in their and the country' s interest to compete in the female category.
I feel sorry for these 3 people, because if they' d been born in a developed country they would have been brought up as males. But they should not be allowed to compete- 3 female athletes missed out on medals and 3 missed out on reaching an Olympic Final and 1 from South Africa,Burundi and Kenya missed out on becoming an Olympian.

For context, all three of these athletes are intersex and as of 2019 changed regulations, can no longer compete under female classification in distances of 400m to a mile.

Sticky subject. Taking all of the hatred out of this contentious subject and looking at it from a macro view intersex athletes are exactly that - INTER. Both male and female. Therefore without sounding mean they have a clear biological advantage competing against whole females and should be competing in the male equivalent event. Of course she wouldnt be "great" in the mens - and such is life. I do think this is unfair to the women who don't have the levels of testosterone she has in their bodies. Sorry Caster but if your not good enough to compete in the mens then you're not good enough to be an elite athlete. Just like 99.99% of us. It's not about putting anyone down, you are entitled to identify however you wish but this really violates the even playing field all sports require.
And while we're at at, we should also compare muscle density, bone density, arm/leg length, total weight, muscle fatigue and anything else that can give a biological advantage over others, since we're all different in these aspects.

Michael Phelps has abnormally long arms and large hands that give him a MASSIVE advantage. Did he ask for it? No. But it does give him a biological advantage does it not? Her levels of testosterone is still acceptable for a woman, thus she gets to compete with them. She trains just as hard as these other women so why take that away from her? It was so clear that she lost the 2012 800m on purpose so that she wouldn’t be accused of being a man like she was in 2009 and after. She didn’t ask to be born that way so why punish her for it?

IAAF should make a new category, for the hermaphrodites, people with blurred gender identity will have advantage if they choose to be classified as women. It' not an issue about her daily life if she wants to be identified as woman or not, but when it comes to sport, it has to be clear cut. There's no detailed analysis about her gender being publicized. I admit I feel sorry for people who are hermaphrodites because in sports, they can't really fit into male or female,unless if new category is introduced, but I feel even more sorry for those other females, who don't have testerone levels like hermaphrodites, No hate, but that's the truth
