    I see your replying to all the comments too :D
    Coach, I'm new to Muay thai(no martial arts exp) did a bit of boxing before, but now I decided to join a muay thai gym since it's very close to my home. What do you think are the essentials to master before I make my first appearance in the gym. It's considered one of the best gyms in my country (Kuwait). I'm low key terrified. And my flexibility is the worst. Do you have vids on stretches a total beginner should master before joining muay thai. Would really love to see and I bet alot of people would love to see it too. Hope you read this coach.

      find a punching bag, set-up 3min timer, only left kick, rest, another 2min left kick, rest, 1min left and right together. rest, for at least 1month.
      It's not only about your flexibility, it's more about your nerves, your brain, are less familair with left leg, the whole muscle fibers that control you body to performe a left kick.
      So what Im recomending you is more about self-awareness, self-control, but ofc, stretching is also importent. But think about it, if your left leg is more flexible than your right leg right now, can you still perform it well?

    is it better to practice kicking air or a bag when first starting?

    • @IronboyExperience
      @IronboyExperience  Год назад +1

      Honestly both are necessary. I personally recommend Shadowboxing kicks (kicking air) as it will help you with balance. A key component to all techniques.

      @@IronboyExperience Okay, thanks for getting back to me. I'll do both. At times when I kick my bag, my groin kind of hurts if I go a bit out of my range of flexability. That's probably normal though. Not to where there's excruciating pain, but just annoyance.

      Bro tell me how everything is going? Should I master flexibility before joining muay thai? Mine is so bad too. What are the essential traits to master before I go to muay thai gym? :)

    • @GotFaculty
      @GotFaculty 3 года назад

      @@dad4378 Honestly i still haven't been to a Muay Thai gym, I have no doubt i will in the future but my focus is on financial right now.
      I'd definitely recommend being consistent with a stretching + yoga routine while aiming to to improve general posture throughout the day.
      Kettlebell workouts are incredible, I do them and if i was fighting i would still work the kettlebells, most gyms implement them anyway them i believe.
      Diet is *the most important8, mostly plant based whole foods i recommend.
      If you haven't already, learning to cook healthy food that tastes good will be your best time saver, money saver, performance booster and all things health in general. (it'll help you with stretching too)

      @@dad4378 It is not required for you to master flexibility before joning a muay thai gym however it would greatly help you. I started muay thai 1 month ago and i'm really inflexible and sure I cannot kick to the head but thats okay cause usually you don't do that anyways as a beginner and even if you were it's no problem, you'll just have to kick at the ribs instead til you get flexible enough. Im stretching every time after training and I'm already seeing major improvements in my flexibility all tho im still VERY inflexible, however it get's better for every time. I am however planning on starting to stretch everyday at home to reduce the time til I can get really flexible so that i'll be able to throw better kicks at the club however as I said before it's definently not required, you will get more flexible while training and just do a little stretches afterwards. Start your membership now! you won't regret it trust me, it's so much fun!

    This is brutal I took kickboxing for 7 years, sponsored rollerblader, played football and lacrosse in high school, here I am just turned 40 been about 17 years, the flexibility is at novice stage, I just started getting back into it, hung my 6ft heavy bag last night, I used to be able to do a 360 roundhouse like nothing above my head, now it’s just above my waist, plus I’m slow as hell, thank new sub and muy Thai is something I always wanted to learn but I have no clue where to find a gym. Thank you corona I got completely out of shape, married a Blackfoot woman professional model and I’ve always been in shape. Now I have to resort to RUclips, no offense we bought a house in a very rural Midwest town fn Walmart is the excitement out here… 🤦‍♂️, we are Bostonians

      @@sumone9920 if you never figured it out ; the only thing I’ve found to help; has been 7+ years since anything OTHER than lifting weights for physique … stretching habitually; DO NOT “BOUNCE” in the stretch… it’s bad, learned this from a PT.. our ligaments and tendons are rubber bands.. what happens when you stretch, semi release, stretch again etc to a rubber band?? Exactly… now think the same for a crusty locked up one … aging & bouncing is a recipe for disaster… don’t be afraid of the pain .. unfortunately regaining or gaining flexibility is never FUN.. just make sure you’re not over exerting & you’re keeping you’re breaths reasonable… my nightly routine is calm controlled stretches for 6 breaths 1-3 reps per stretch… utilize dynamic stretches & warmups … frankensteins , walking hip rotations, & I use some old ass karate warm up routines I still remember from around 8-10yrs old!
      Example: feet shoulder width apart, bring one leg up & to the side, as high as you can SLOWLY, repeat 10x times , do this for side & front , that’s when I start my splits & usually after a run for 20-30min I’m good to go…

      Started doing this a few months back; could southpaw sidekick above my head 7+ years ago… couldn’t kick AT ALL .. roundhouse was genuinely impossible & within a week or two my southpaw sidekick was maybe chin level! Crazy

      As far as gyms go; if there are no gyms .. then what else can ya do? You can shadow box but unless your Bruce lee you’ll just form subpar form & bad habits… you probably won’t gain enough to compete but if all you want is confidence and fitness ; go for it!
