Giving a DM the award would be great. Could give all players in the field even more motivation to know they can also be recognized as the best player in the world
I feel like the only one saying this but Rodri wasn’t the best player in the Euros and didn’t deserve the that player award. That isn’t to say he doesn’t deserve the ballon d’or cos he has still been one of the best if not the best players in the world this season, no doubt. The first spot should be between him and Bellingham (and I hate Real Madrid). Recency bias has been the reason Vini has been gaining so much traction (due to his strong end to the season) but Bellingham has both out-scored and out-assisted him this season, as well as helping England reach the Euros final while probably being their best player that campaign, so there’s really no reason for Vini to be ahead of him. Third spot should be between Vini and Lautaro imo
I agree. Bellingham deserves it, then rodri and vinicius. Vinicius 3rd because of copa. Imo vinicius’ claim is not recency bias bro😂. If you understand that he played fewer games than bellingham, has just maybe 1-3g/a contributions less than bellingham. He was literally asked to play a different role at the beginning of the season that compromised his style of play and gave bellingham more room to shine and he still balled this season. Try to put things into context. Imo bellingham-rodri-vinicius.
You do realize that Jude wouldn't have won the UCL without vini right?? He and rodrygo tore up the KO stage And vini was out for sometime as well Jude had a good start to the season but 2024 has been average he shouldn't be anywhere near that award It's between vini and Rodri We all saw it in the UCL KO where Jude was nowhere to be seen but vini turned up against city,Bayern and Dortmund If Madrid lost the UCL you can call that a failure of a season Not to mention he's nowhere as consistent as Rodri Vini came back and took Madrid to the next level He's the man of the big moments for Madrid
@@BiggestBirdonMars I definitely had vinicius over anybody before copa and lowkey wanted england to not go far because of vini😂😂. But vini didn’t play well in copa and brazil didn’t go far either🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️. Mind you ballondor is for the whole season blud and so even if bellingham didn’t play consistently over the season, he was still instrumental to madrid winning as well as england winning. Bellingham may have played averagely in the euros but at least he single handedly saved from elimination twice in euros, had an assist in the final(was literally the best player in england during the finals when every other player disappeared)
Rodri was not the best player for spain and did not deserve the player of tournament award imo He was not the best player for man city(arguable but not) The only reason i will put him as second is his consistency, the fact that he won euros coupled and his impact in winning the prem
I saw your video for the first time earlier yesterday which was on the eye test bias and i found it profound & nice cos its been one of the things have been talking about myself. There are two extremes right now, the old heads with extreme nostalgia and the new heads with recency bias. Have always been an advocate for balance that is void of sentiments and and allows for naunce conversation. After watching that, i saw you had other videos which were around 8-14mins, downloaded all to listen to including the videos of last year, you quite objective in your analysis. Though, i had a few disagreement with you on some vudeos but all in all, you got like 80% of my votes on your videos. Almost done watching all. Messi shouldn't have won the ballondor, haaland was the more deserving winner. It's a ballondor award not a ballondor World Cup award. Kvara was Napoli best player and not Osimhen, I'm Nigerian but I got pissed at the narratives flying around cos kvara won it & osimhen didn't. Also, there is no issue in a 21 yr old & 19 yr old(Sancho & Saka) taking pk's in a shoot out game. I am tired of hearing this. When it comes to shoot out, it is who is mentally prepared and who wants to take it, there is a reason alot of players shy away from it. Whoever decides to take it whether they are young should not be questioned. Cr7 took the last pk in 04 against England, Nuno who was 22 took a PK for Portugal against France, we've seen teenagers(febregas, Torres, etc) captain clubs who had experienced players. For the 8 players you listed that are in the running for the the ballondor, why was Kroos not mentioned? I am not surprised anymore even if it's always annoying, what else does he need to do? You can argue vini & Bellingham were real Madrid best players but they had stints during the season they were off form, especially vini in the beginning of the season. Kroos was their most consistent player in all competitions but ofcourse, lewandoski gets included in la Liga player of the season award over him, he doesn't get included into the starting 11 of the UCL team of the season and now he is being overlooked in your 8 man list even after having a very good euros. Modric won the ballondor in 2018 with lesser performances. And for the last 1-2mins on the praise on rodri, Kroos>>>. And for lautaro, he won't make the top 5 list, yes he had a great season with inter & he came up clutch for Argentina but he had a whole 2months run in Serie A were he was abysmal. Yes what he did had already and looking at how other teams messed up had given inter the league title since but hakan was their most consistent player. Anyway, love your little sarcastic/funny comments in-between your videos, also like the basketball comparison. I also follow the NBA. Have been following the NBA since and I can tell you Kyrie has better handles than any player in NBA history including Jamal Crawford, AI, Curry, etc, though AI & Curry are the better players. Neymar>>>Ronaldinho. Who was the better dribbler is hard but overall as players, Neymar>>>. For the whole Van Dijk legacy and were he ranks, he is not top 5 as it stands in EPL history & yeah, I agree with you, some of the names listed in being better than him are laughable. Also, Van dijk is complete & all round but he isn't as complete as Rio Ferdinand was. Van Dijk long passes are similar to that of Rio but ball playing, defending & being consistent at a top level, Rio is easily better. Also, he shouldn't even have made the podium for the ballondor in 2019. He won the pfa award but Bernardo Silva was the more deserving winner and should have been on the podium instead of him. Bernardo Silva was city best player in the league & in their domestic treble that season, he also won the best player award at the uefa nations league. Alison was also great in 2019 and won the Copa with Brazil. His 2019 performance is "slightly" overstated. Staam was a better CB than Van dijk but he just didn't have longetivity enough. In summary, he is not top 5 but he is around the 7-8th spot a couple more seasons with good performances and he breaks into the top 4,5.. Base on ability, consistency, availability, impact, big game performances & titles Ferdinand, Terry,Vidic, kompany,Sol Campbell, Pallister, Cahill & Hypia are ahead of him. The first 6 games are definitely ahead of him, the last 2 are debatable. So he is around the 6-9th spot for now. Staam & Carvalho could have also made it too but they don't have longetivity. Also, saying the definition of a WC player should be players who are top 3 in their position is not nice cos in some positions, there are more WC players. With your definition, then it was only buffon, kahn & Casillas who were WC, cech, van der sar,etc weren't.John Stones is not WC, he had a good season but that's it. You said Rudiger didn't have a great season this Year? You also said he isn't WC but earlier, you said Stones was WC, let's be serious please. Upamecano, De light, etc are not borderline WC players, they are mid as fuck. Barella is not a borderline WC player, he is a WC player. You easily put kvara as a WC player and you were unsure about leao when leao has done it in more seasons? Lol. Osimhen is NOT WC, he is not even better than vlahovic or Louis Openda. Lautaro is easily WC. You left out a couple of WC players in other positions. Theo, DiMarco, Bernardo Silva, bremer, kroos.
rodri argument not that good bruh. it just sounds like ppl just don't want a madrid player to win again. spain were a well oiled machine and he just happened to be the best player on that team. the fact that they scored 2 goals in the final after he got benched sounds like the way mfs used to talk about brady helping the defense through "being a great leader" or sum bullshit. vini and jude clearly had better seasons than rodri. Even tho jude did play "moments" typa football, he did what big time players do, show up when it mattered most. i think southgate was hesistant to bench foden and kane which made their counter attacking style of football not as effective as it could've been. kinda fucked up the flow for the team. still got either vini or jude tho
That’s exactly what’s happening he wasn’t even a top 4 Spanish player in the euros and he wasn’t even city’s best player last season he was medicore in the euros didnt stand out over any other player playing for any other team in the euros Fabian ruiz, dani olmo, lamine yamal, nico williams were all better then him, he didnt even Make Tots for the premier leauge if he even gets top 2 i would probally quit watching the sport
@overlordzlol it's genuinely hilarious. The voters are acting like Rodri carried a bum ass team to the euros like Modric did in 2018. In fact Bellingham played better than Rodri this euros. The reason a lot of ppl hated on Jude cuz he wasn't controlling the pitch like prime Xavi and Iniesta but the truth is that it was a coaching thing and a defensively minded way of playing football. But whatever, the truth tends to reveal itself. It might take months or even years, the truth will reveal itself...but Rodri...no lol. Vini deserves or Jude
Bring stats , individual and collective achievements, Bellingham is the rightful winner. In his first season in Madrid he won: UCL La Liga Super Cup Euros Second place La liga best player (101% right) UCL best young player just cause of recency bias for Vinicius Euros 2 MVp with clutch goals Two goal involvements in both finals . 35+ G/A as a midfielder. Last only 3 games all season. Now Rodri was not even the best player for Man City in the season . Even in Spain I think Yamal , Unai and Nico Williams arguably did better in their roles. They made clutch safes and goals. He won UEFA super cup FIFA club World Cup Euros EPL Individually 2 player of the tournaments .
Best take I’ve seen so far👏. People forgot Bellingham in the begining of the season had us thinking he was the second coming of Ronaldo at Madrid with the rate he was putting up goals. This is the same situation as with Halland from last year when he ghosted in the finals of the Ucl and people immediately began to berate his monsterous debut season bc of recency bias. Thankfully Bellingham had the euros.
Given the context of his season , my candidate would be Jude but Rodri last season does deserve a case , he's impact from build-up to keeping City ticking with his passing and IQ plus putting up great numbers for a deep-lying midfielder , some clutch goals and while not the best for spain imo at euro 2024 he was consistenly good so all in all if he wins i'd say he'd be a great choice
It will most likely be jude bellingham imo with rodri comin in 2nd. Rodri was good but he didn't have a better season the jude Jude won player of the season and he was breaking madrid and laliga records in his first season. As for vini he had a better end to the club season than both rodri and jude but overall i dont even see him being above martinez who just won copa america and broke multiple records too fr
Kroos vs Rodri ucl 23/24 Most:l per game: Tackles - Kroos Passing accuracy- Kroos Chances created - Kroos Key passes - Kroos Interceptions - Kroos Forward passes - Kroos Take on success rate - Kroos Interceptions - Kroos Possession lost - Kroos (8.8) Rodri (12.2) Through balls - Rodri Shot accuracy - Kroos Kroos also won the ucl and assisted in the final. Kroos deserves the balondor more than Rodri
Vini should win it imo. I mean Rodri was really good this euro yes, but personally he wasn’t even the best on his team, same goes for city where Foden was better this season.
@@Jatnielp not really, vinicius was the bets madrid player in both the supercup and the ucl this season, onyl jude maybe edging him out in la liga. Rodri on the other hadn ws shit in the fa cup, average in the carabao and wasnt citys best player in the league. Rodri wasnt city or spains best player in any competition.
He didn’t win last year when they won the treble. He was injured this year quite a bit. It was also quite pathetic when real parked the bus on them the only player trying to unlock them was de Bruyne. Not foden, not rodri
trying to make an argument that you don't believe will never result in a good one, my goat deserves it because of hes consistency, Bingham ghosted the entirety of the knockouts in the UCL and vini was mid in the start of the league and the groups, but the only reason my goat hasn't won back to back trebles is because of hes teammates, mr cosestent
Was mid at the start of the leauge and Ucl? He was injured for literally 3 months well well well what a surprise the dude with the Rodri pfp says he deserves it when he did fuck all in the euros ghosting in the semis and getting subbed of before halftime, nga didn’t even get Tots for city and he wasn’t city’s best player even if he deserved to be in there it will be a absolute disgrace if this dude even gets a sniff at the award
Madrid fans would have been all over a midfielder (Kroos) winning BalonDor if Germany won the Euro and Kroos won POTT. Let's be real. There is an incredible bias against Rodri because Madrid players are media darlings. If the voting was fair, Rodri 100% was the best player for both club and country and deserves to win the BalonDor.
To me is between Lautaro n rodry. If Vinicius or belligan would have won the euros or copa America then they deserve it but since they didn’t I don’t think they should win it. It’s either rodry or lautaro
so far hes been the best player in 2024 being the best player in the world is more than having the most goal contributions, im sick of people talking like it is even as a dm he has like over 20 g/a hes been the best and most consistent player in the world but bro why are people already talking about the ballon dor? its July. rodri might drop stinkers throughout the first half of the 24/25 season or he might drop a 10/10 performance every second game. anything could happen, there's still many months to go. its still wide open and there are still so many players who could win it after having a good first half of the 24/25 season but so far rodri is the frontrunner for me
@@svd8140 the Ballon D’or isn’t calendar year anymore, the cutoff is the end of the season now so the international tournaments were pretty much the last auditions
@@mandafrombk Even though the period under consideration is 1st August to 31st July, you can't stop what happens in the first 2 months of the season from influencing voters, as the 30-man shortlist will be published on 4th September for voting to begin.
If the Ballon d'Or wasn't a joke, I'd say it should probably go to him. But seeing as how the shortlist and winners are largely decided by clueless journalists who almost always give it to attacking players, I don't think anyone should give a single shit about that truly meaningless award.
Seriously, though. Even in the Messi v Ronaldo debate, Messi obviously takes the Ballon d'Or crown, but that's not why he's a better player. Judging a player by how many subjective annual (seriously, a yearly award for best player is silly) journalist-voted awards they get is stupid. Messi would be the better player if he got 0 Ballon d'Ors (or is it Ballons d'Or?). I think Rodri is probably the best player in the world, and I would like to see that recognised, but even if he doesn't win, he still is.
Rodri Very close For Balon D’Or. I think he’ll get 3rd behind Jude and Vini. Just because of PR and Forward Bias or the public. But it WOULD be great if he won. And im not a City or Spain fan by any means
@@jinsimpfor2878 not exactly. The main argument for him is consistency, reliability, his importance to the Prem champions and leadership for the Euro champions. Perfectly acceptable arguments tbh, whether they outweigh Vini or Jude’s arguments is another debate
I feel like a lot of arguments for rodri has been because bellingham’s type of football is not attractive(hence the statements that football has fallen) and everybody wants to shit on what he has done this season😂😂. Not necessarily because rodri outperformed him but because they dont want ballondor to go a boring player(not enough aesthetics😂😂). Its ridiculous imo. They are forgetting that bellingham is a midfielder first and he was asked to play a different role as to what he is accustomed to. Performed excellently well in the role. We can clearly see that he wasnt quote in quote playing up to what he did in laliga, in the euros. Yet he was one of the best players in england
Notice how rodri wasnt even the best player in spain but was given player of the tournament😂😂 And all we have been saying since is that bellingham’s PR is massive💀💀
@@oladipo3644 the problem is u don't work for uefa u would have chosen the best player of the tournament in your own opinion🤣🤣🤣 but first understand that uefa is not a podcast owned by one person, there are many people so they had to first make a debate on each and every player performances and ratings dropped per every game. According to u you think rodri must show off his dribbles while playing, yes he can dribble like other attacking players who dribble and end up losing the ball but remember he plays CDM plus a combination of CB that's why he takes most of his time at the back, he picks it from the keeper controls it and distributes it where he scanned the weak side of the opposite defensivilycat the moment and remember his position is so congested with midfielders of the other team so he could be attacked by three or two players. His dribbling is so accountable since he plays so deep in defense once he loses the ball, he might give the other team a chance to score which means he has to dribble less and pass to keep possession and avoid committing mistakes

This is a conundrum. They either give it someone who’s unworthy, like Rodri. Or they give it Vini who is the best player in the world. But he has been injured for half of the season. And like it or not, your best ability is availability. Or do you give it to someone like Bellingham, who did slightly worse than Rodri in the Euros and slightly worse than Vini for Madrid. Or do you give it to Carvajal who was instrumental to winning the euros and for Madrid but in not the superstar for both. At least not now in his age, as he was for Madrid back in his heyday. It’s a tough one, but you have to give it to Vini. We may revert to the olden days where only 2 dudes got the award but if those dudes are Mbappé, Vini, and Jude. Third spot should be between Vini and Lautaro imo
Facts
He and rodrygo tore up the KO stage
And vini was out for sometime as well
Jude had a good start to the season but 2024 has been average he shouldn't be anywhere near that award
It's between vini and Rodri
We all saw it in the UCL KO where Jude was nowhere to be seen but vini turned up against city,Bayern and Dortmund
If Madrid lost the UCL you can call that a failure of a season
Not to mention he's nowhere as consistent as Rodri
Vini came back and took Madrid to the next level
He's the man of the big moments for Madrid
Rodri was not the best player for spain and did not deserve the player of tournament award imo
He was not the best player for man city(arguable but not)
The only reason i will put him as second is his consistency, the fact that he won euros coupled and his impact in winning the prem

rodri argument not that good bruh. it just sounds like ppl just don't want a madrid player to win again. spain were a well oiled machine and he just happened to be the best player on that team. the fact that they scored 2 goals in the final after he got benched sounds like the way mfs used to talk about brady helping the defense through "being a great leader" or sum bullshit. vini and jude clearly had better seasons than rodri.
In his first season in Madrid he won:
UCL
La Liga
Super Cup
Euros Second place
La liga best player (101% right)
UCL best young player just cause of recency bias for Vinicius
Euros 2 MVp with clutch goals
Two goal involvements in both finals .
35+ G/A as a midfielder.
Last only 3 games all season.
Now Rodri was not even the best player for Man City in the season .
Even in Spain I think Yamal , Unai and Nico Williams arguably did better in their roles. They made clutch safes and goals.
He won
UEFA super cup
FIFA club World Cup
Euros
EPL
Individually
2 player of the tournaments .

Yeah goalkeepers and defenders should score
@@violationz4842 Yeah and defensive midfielders should know how to defend
@@44nkkhe know how to defend what are u saying?
@@juanllanes8299 not very well
@@idk-dz3foyour point is actually against rodri imo. The keeper does his job, the defenders do theirs, dm does his. The ballondor winner should be the player that goes the extra mile, that foes extra things to win the game for the team
Dont get me wrong rodri did that this season and even last season but players like vinicius literally saved madrid out of nothing with his performances
Man city, bayern dominated madrid. Vinicius was clearly a stand out player for madrid
Same goes for bellingham(ancelotti basically asked him to fill a role that he had never played before whilst still doing the dirty work on defense. He may not have performed in euros(clearly as a result of southgate and how the whole team was constructed) but rodri was clearly anot also the same in euros
Imo rodri was not even the best player in spain, not to now talk of the whole tournament
Kroos >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Rodri
Next time use cricket as the example not basketball
Rodri winning the balon d'Or will literally make me cry ,that could have been me if i went to the academy ,but shorter
Think ballad or award should be given to retiring comrades for the wonderful work put to the beautiful game
no
Funniest thing I saw all day 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rodri has been unbelievable this season but any other winner besides Vini will be a disgrace. Vini is the only rightful Ballon D'or winner. Rodri dropped a stinker in the Euro Semifinal and the FInal, Rodri also dropped a massive stinker in the fa cup final and the UCL Quarterfinal. Made a mistake leading to a goal for Real Madrid. Hes amazing but Rodri is nowhere to be found in big games
Which mistake did he made to lead to Madrid goal, and tell me the stinker he dropped in semi finals. A u okay or you are just scared that he 100% going to win it
@@KaweesaTanansihe got turned inside out by Bellingham who passes it to vini who had the assist for Rodrygo in the second leg
@@lovemannen6176rodri did not drop a stinker in the semis… literally performed good against a midfield of kante hawk tchoua and rabiot. In the final he made 2 crucial blocks and played really well. Also he didnt cost the goal its not a mistake just didnt get jude btw there was like 3-4 more passes that happened before that goal, fuckn valverde was the one who got it into tje box and it was walkers defensive mistake of not marking rodrygo
People saying vini should win the ballon D’or should rewatch Brazils copa America
copa is a joke
@renedo141, Would you say that affects Martinez's position?
@@renedo141 i think comparatively jude and vini both had pretty dysfunctional national teams and jude just showed up in big games and more or less took them where they weren't supposed to be. i'd give it to jude
@@browhat6935 what does that have to do with martinez
People who think Bellingham should win the ballondor should watch England euro campaign as well
Modric winning the Dor was the worst thing to happen to football. Now we have to pretend Midfielders are at the same level as Fowards who score goals
Lmao
Facts
@@chingyminecraftgods9424 you can't win games without midfielders. They're literally the team's engine.
