Justin Welby is obviously pulled in two opposite directions. I would expect that this will involve both family members and best friends (not because I know for sure but because this is the experience we all share). However even before he took up office he publicly voiced his own uncertainty as to the rights and wrongs of the issue of sexuality. He appeared not to have arrived at a coherent (faithful?) theological understanding before he launched himself into the job; given the fight that was looming, that was a very serious error.
His actions since have been consistent in ratcheting the Church of England in the revisionist direction. He's done this conspicuously in terms of the appointment of people to positions of influence - for example appointing a "married" homosexual as his bishops' appointments secretary. Actions speak louder than words.
But he's a very tough cookie, brought up within the English establishment. I think his attitude and behaviour is shaped by the instinct of establishment people to do what's necessary to maintain their position within it. So a part of him has to die over the current disagreement: his establishment instinct or his faithfulness to the word of God. It's not looking good. We should pray that he will repent and do the right thing but, humanly speaking, things are looking very shaky - for him and therefore for all of us.

Unless you are Welby. In which case you surround yourself with others with similar doubts and listen to those who speak things contrary to the truth thus grow your doubts. He will have to lose everything he has built to get back. I pray he does of course do this.

The fruit of his heresy is now he is no longer first among equals, he is no longer even in communion with the rest of the Anglican Church! He's still deluded in thinking everyone is free to disagree with him and that they in turn will return the favour!!! Rejecting the teaching of the Bible and the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ is heresy NOT disagreement! Admitting he was wrong to vote for blessing sinful unions, wearing sackcloth and calling the Church of England to repentance is the only way back! The Anglican Church has made it its core business to be conformed by the world, right from the beginning. Just stating historical fact. The practice of Bible As Final Authority can be used to support any fanciful doctrine. Homosexuality, divorce, Faith-Alone, Bible Alone, The Eucharist as a symbol, Abortion etc etc. Nothing is out of bounds. You would realise the Lamberth Conference in 1930 approved contraception ofter 400 years of holding that the Bible taught against it. You see, the practice of Bible As Final Authority is the problem as it results in hundreds of versions of "truth" and division.

Justin Welby should grow some balls and tell the British government in no uncertain terms that the government does not have the authority to dictate doctrine to the Church of Jesus Christ. (Rom.13:1-7) Indeed, it is by the good grace of God that every single person in existence takes their every breath?! Welby needs to inform the government that he and God together are the majority! A) it is dubious whether it is in actual fact a survey of Anglicans.
      B) It risks selection bias impacting results.
      2) It's all online wich is a limiting demographic as some people are not technically able and others lack access. Again potentially biasing results.
      3) It's applicant based. Now they do draw from a larger panel in an attempt to mitigate this but it still has problems.
The sample is to someone degree still self selecting another posible bias factor. (Who apart from political activists would agree to fill in government surveys?) Certainly political activists would have a strong motivation. Also LGBTQ activistisam is very active area amongst political activistisam currently.
      4) Church members attitudes could have been ascertained in a far more effective way. Why not survey church attendees directly via parish churches? For some reason no one thought this was a good idea at hm gov. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

There is no 'one suits all' solution here which will bring and keep folks together, the consequences of this situation are harmful to everyone .
I hear the concern of the Bishop in this video for the churches in Nigeria facing Boko Haram , a frightening prospect, equally I think of the new Death Penalty law against homosexuals passed in Uganda and shouldn't churches in the worldwide communion make some sort of protest against that? To show compassion , act justly , live as salt and light are biblical acts , so prayer and action is surely needed to move forward. With all respect to politicians their role is a secular one . If there is a controversy, with some people pressing for innovation in the Church, the safest thing to do is to stick to normal Church practice and stand up to the innovators, surely. Especially if the innovations are so totally alien to all previous doctrine and would lead not only to division within the wider Christian community but also within the Anglican Church itself. How utterly foolish of Welby to vote with the innovators in this case.

What's everyone complaining about? The head of the Anglican organisation is simply being a good Protestant. Every fanciful doctrinal conclusion is arrived at under the practice of Bible As Final Authority. Nothing is out of bounds. No need for the Rock of Peter and his successors. Thank you Martin Luther

We need to spiritually fight against bullying in the church by clergy and the whims of ordinary people. God didn't change His Word. Having a designated gender stands. There is a reason why God said, " man shall not lay with man!" We should, in the church , not be celebrating gay union. All people yes, God loves all people but not the sin, the sexual sin and churches are bowing to pressure to accept more sin into the church and this is bringing the church down to satans level! All clergy should not be afraid to speak the truth of the lord!

The Anglican Church made it its core business to please the world from its begining some 500 years ago. Just stating historical fact. The practice of Bible As Final Authority can be used to support any fanciful doctrine. Homosexuality, divorce, Faith-Alone, Bible Alone, The Eucharist as a symbol, Abortion etc etc. Nothing is out of bounds. You would realise the Laberth Conference in 1930 approved contraception ofter 400 years of holding that the Bible taught against it. You see, the practice of Bible As Final Authority is the problem as it results in hundreds of versions of "truth" and division.

"Christian", and substantially Anglican, Uganda has passed a law that would sentence gay people to death. Don't you think this is a more important evil to stand against that than the blessing of equal marriage in the C of E?

Mate that's just disinformation and mud slinging. Sounds like you haven't read anything that has come from the Anglicans in Uganda, but listening to spin from pressure groups and thinking it is true. Mind you that's exactly what went did, in camera too. No the issue here is what is true and right. No-one is advocating violence or even criminality toward homosexuals, but following the bible rather than the world. Nice attempt at a straw man mind.

If true, remember that this is also the stance of all fundamentalist Moslems domiciled in the UK today as well as ultra orthodox conservative Jews in Israel - do you want to take them on as well? It's really only Christian tolerance that's holding back - Nb that's 'tolerance'; not to be confused with approval by people still struggling with the English language.

The entire Anglican Communion has one rule and guide to Faith, practice and Salvation; the Holy Bible... perhaps the ABC and his advisors should spend more time there rather than at other pursuits?

With regular and fair church elections, things are voted 🗳️ in every church. One law or opinions are never sway over all churches, perhaps truth is difficult to understand? The communion of churches is stronger then anyone person.

Acts 4:18-20 shows Christians how to react to governmental officials who contradict Bible teachings. "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God, judge for yourselves. But as for ourselves, we cannot stop speaking about the things we have seen and heard" For that, they ran the risk of a flogging, thankfully, that didn't happen, but, when they returned to the congregation, they made a big fuss about how they were able to defeat the so called politicians of their time.
Justin Welby, didn't have that commitment, though he must have known about it.
The problem with all of the Churches of Christendom in the west, it's full of narcissists, of which I include The glorified Arch Bishops of anywhere, as being guilty of the fact, that William Tyndale, who stated to an eminent church goer.
"That the humble boy who guides the plough, would know more about the Bible than he did"
Am I wrong? respond and tell me why.
