Your videos are very important if they encourage just one person who has talent to go into the area of restoration you have done well and a worthwhile thing, our past always needs saving for future generations to enjoy. I worked as a ceramic restorer for most of my life and it was such a happy and rewarding career, I never became a millionaire, but it bought me so much personal satisfaction and many customers became very good friends. Restoration is one of those unusual careers that many youngsters never consider, and it does take a special kind of person to be prepared to learn all the many skills involved, and because each piece is different you learn so much actually doing it, and it takes a person who likes personal challenges, I hope there are youngsters willing to put the time in out there watching you work and get inspired, because your work is important. I don't work in furniture restoration but it isn't hard to understand that you have to sacrifice some (or sometimes a lot of) original wood if you want to restore functionality as well as the looks.
You did an amazing job here rescuing this chair - which probably needed this level of restoration even before the seller dropped a cabinet on it?! Now it can bring joy to another couple generations! You don't often see this level of upholstery either so many thanks for sharing this very entertaining video!
The current generation growing up today are mostly a lost cause when it comes to repairing broken things and handcrafts... Anything manual labour really... When they realise this and regret spending all their lives in front of their computers that my generation built for them, they at least have a chance at re-learning some skills by watching videos just like this one!

I was a salesperson at an French antique dealer and they had a cabinet maker, that is what their profession is called in France unlike here where a cabinet maker is what the name implies. His name is Philippe from France he was the best. He restored the items that were brought in from from France and Italy. When they arrived and were unloaded you would just not believe what he could do with the items brought in. He is a very good friend of mine and your workmanship reminded me of him. Very fine workmanship.

Great restoration on a chair which I would have called a lost cause. Fine professional upholstery!

I have taken apart a few antique chairs in my time, but have never watched a professional upholsterer at work -- particular using straw. You did a great job, and the chair turned out looking very nice!
