took out backwards speaking because I hated it.
The sheer fact that this song is the musical of someone going mentally insane from shock torture for something he didnt even do is spine chilling
From what I’ve seen, it’s not torture, (not meant to be) but shock therapy. If you WERE insane, it would help. But if you aren’t insane, it irreversibly fucks up your brain.
@@ThetaSimpson yes it's not meant to be but I see it as torture because he was never able to leave till they seen he was physically unable to hurt anybody because of how much shock therapy he actually endured. Which then labyrinth came into play and showed how he had to fight against the memory loss and pain of how messed up he actually got from it.

Personally, I feel like he did kill his wife/girlfriend. Since the old version of Murders replaces all the “he’s” with “I’s” and it feels like it’s eluding that.

Here’s my interpretation of this song
The main character is going to court for murdering his girlfriend ( which he didn’t do imo I think the erlking mentioned in murders possessed him and killed the girl ). He claims that the erlking did it but the judge doesn’t believe him and finds him guilty and sends him to shock therapy. The weird deep voice part 1:13 is actually the erlking is still inside of the main characters brain and tells him to be scared. The main character is telling the shock therapy people to have mercy on him and not do this to him but still does it. The erlking is still inside of the main characters brain and is telling him that he’s going insane and is describing it as falling inside a hole you can’t escape. He finally talks to a therapist to tell them that he’s going insane can’t tell if he’s him or not because he’s doing horrible acts. The erlking tells them that main character that he will never understand what is happening but the erlking doesn’t understand how he is still alive after these events. The main character has gotten used to the shock therapy that he finds it comforting.
